Ride Home

"Oh no...! Not my car keys too..." I yelled in disdain while clenching my teeth and fist. First my wallet and now my car keys?

"How was I supposed to get home then? Is there someone trying to mess up with me?" thoughts raced down my mind

Frustrated, I stood in the parking lot wishing the car doors would open and let me in. I couldn't walk home, it's quite a stretch from school. Besides, the frustrations drowned me in a pool of exhaustion.

Since I lost my wallet, earlier on, I had tried reaching my dad to rescue me from the embarrassment in the food joint, but his phone was out of reach and so was mum's phone too.

Quite a dramatic long day for me. I sat on my car trunk waiting for a miracle to happen.

Out of thin air, Jerry shows up again. This time, he is driving a cool blue sedan car.

"Not again...! How many times will this man be a hero in a day?" I thought as I stared his way in distress.

Jerry pulls over his car, steps out, and walks toward me.

"I won't bite, just here to help if you need my help," Jerry said with a charming smile as he offers his hand to help me get off my car trunk. He walked me to his car and opened the front door of his car for me.

I remained silent and followed him like a sheep. I just didn't want to argue with his kind gestures anymore. After all, I was stranded... I mean I've been stranded in the afternoon and like an angel, he pops up to save my day.

I hopped into his car without a second thought. "Will you please drop me at 6th street, the third black gate," I informed Jerry as I fastened the seat belt.

Without a word, the gentleman nodded and turned on his car engine. In silence, Jerry headed for my destination, my house.

Deep inside me, I kept wishing he said something to disrupt the deafening silence. The silence grew louder and made me nervous.

I stole glances at the gentleman from head to toes. The guy got looks and great too behind the wheels. A very cautious driver.

Then Jerry interrupted my moment, "here we are miss Lexy." Oh.. there we were, at my gate.

I loosened my seat belt and went for the doorknob before the gentleman stopped me.

Clearing his throat, "excuse you, miss... that's not the way to treat a guy who has just rescued you since noon."

I kind of assumed that Jerry wanted me to appreciate his kind gesture. A kind gesture is reciprocated by a bunch of thankful words or notes.

Then I said, " oh... how can I forget to thank you for saving my day. I was about to do so once I got off your car."

The guy smiled and giggled and I joined him. I didn't know what was funny about all I said. I just brushed the moment with laughter to conceal the weird and embarrassing moment.

I thank my parents for getting me home with biometric gates. Otherwise, I would have been stranded outside the gate too.

Suppose that had happened too, the man might have assumed I planned the whole incident out.

"That could be so cheap...! I mean... do people still do that? I posed looking at the bridesmaids' team.

As soon as the gate opened, I rushed to get into the compound.

I wanted to get rid of Jerry. He was still there waiting... waiting for nothing.

Perhaps he was just waiting for me to get into my home safe. Quite a gentleman who took me by surprise.

As soon as I got inside my compound, I heard him leave. For a while, I leaned back on the gate.

My heart skipped so fast, I think I was in dismay by Jerry's actions. After the sound of his car tires faded, I walked into my house and rushed to place my handbag on the kitchen table.

One might think the bag was heavily loaded; hence weighing me down.

I rushed to the fridge to grab something cold to cool down my overheating body. My temperature kept rising and my heart pumped blood so fast.

I could feel the blood flowing through my vein. I needed to get rid of the weird feeling.

My body was in flames. I took out a bottle of water and gulped the cold water down my throat.

I was hoping my temperature would cool down after having the ice-cold water. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

So I headed for the shower. While in the shower. I kept thinking of my messed-up day and the Jerry stranger guy who saved me.

While in the shower, I thought of giving him a call to appreciate his generosity and kind gestures. Then I recalled I didn't get the stranger's number.

Then my face beamed with a smile at the thought of the power of social media platforms. I assumed every young person engages themselves on famous social sites like F******k, I*******m, and Twitter so it would be easy finding Jerry.

After showering, I picked up my phone ready to start my search. My interest in knowing the handsome, polite, and generous stranger took a hit on me.

While drying my hair, I started my search for Jerry. Before I could get results on my first F******k search, my phone started ringing.

A call from an unknown caller. I hesitated to pick up the call, and before I made up my mind to answer it, the call ended. Then I sighed in relief.

Again while on a F******k search, the unknown caller rang back. This time I didn't hesitate to respond to the call.

Upon picking up the call, I was met by silence. Then I went first, "Hello.. who I'm I talk.." before I could finish my line, a male's voice intercepted, "It's Jack, I found your wallet and keys, just want to give them back."

I was super excited to know that my lost items were found. However, I didn't know the caller or how he got my contact.

Without further delay, I asked Jack how I could meet him to pick up my wallet and keys and he suggested the school's cafeteria.

Since the school's cafeteria was quite a stretch and I didn't have my car, in an attempt to intercept and suggest a closer location to my home, the caller hanged up on me.

Without a second thought, I requested a cab to the school's cafeteria. In less than 5 minutes, the taxi had already arrived and I was headed for the school.

Upon my arrival at the cafeteria. I walked in scanning the entire room. My attempt to pin any guy who seemed to be waiting for me, who had phoned me was in vain.

I grabbed fresh apple juice and took a seat. Before I could settle in at the table, my phone rang, still, it was the unknown caller. Then the call ended.

That was strange. However I didn't panic because I was within the school premises with full surveillance cover, so I felt safe.

I sat there for a while staring at the door, watching people walk in and out of the cafeteria. Still, no sign of any male person approaching my table.

With my apple juice halfway, I decided to make my exit. Before I got to the door, a tall, dark hair guy, with a mustache, well built stopped me and said, "someone dropped this off for you," as he handed me my wallet and keys.

Then curiously, I asked who left me my lost items and how the man I was looking at in his eyes right then knew who I was.

Then the guy just whispered, "don't shoot the messenger," as he raised his hands as a sign of throwing in the towel.

I didn't know what to say. I just frowned in shock and left the cafeteria. As I headed for my car in the parking lot, the guy who handed me over my lost items followed me in a haste and when he realized I'd noticed his presence, he stopped and shouted, "At least I should know your name, miss."

His words surprised me. "How could he have handed me my misplaced items without knowing who I was, "I thought. I stopped walking forward and then turned to face the opposite direction where I'd come from.

The guy reached me and stretched out his right hand, "by the way, I'm Jack, we've met awkwardly but it's still okay to know each other," he said while fixing his eyes on me.

I introduced myself and then excused myself. I rushed to my car and left for home. I wasn't rushing home for business or school work but to search for the Jerry guy, lol... seemed like I was already into him.

My bridesmaids giggled and then returned to silence, allowing me to continue with the story.

Luckily, I managed to get Jerry's social media profile. Unfortunately, I didn't get his contact.

So sad, but at least his page had several pictures of him to admire. I went through his profile for nearly an hour or two before I fell fast asleep.

I didn't notice how fast time flew. It was already dark. I dressed up and left home for dinner at the York hotel, one of the best hotels in town with international cuisines.

Tonight, I wanted to try out Mexican taco. Upon my arrival at the hotel, I was informed of only one table left.

Coincidentally, the table had two different reservations at the same time. That was strange. Since I was alone and so was the other party was alone too, I agreed to share the only remaining table.

Upon arrival at the table, I met Jerry once again. Then in shock, he asked if I'd been following him because it seemed like he got there first.

Just before I could explain myself, two waiters had already arrived at our table ready to serve us.

By this time, my love story started getting interesting. I could tell by the look of my bridesmaids' eyes and facial expressions.

They all yearned for more. They wanted the whole story. All details including what happened at every stopover.

"Girls... girls... the story is too long. Perhaps I should just cut it short and give you a summary," I said with my shoulders laid back and a smirk on my face.

As I opened my mouth to continue my love story with Jerry, the driver took an emergency break that shook me and the girls. "What's happening, why the sudden stop..?! Can someone please explain what's going on out there?" I inquired hastily waiting for the driver's response.

Then Lydia handed me over my phone as she said, "you have to see this Lexy."
