Nightmares

"Jerry!"

"Jerry, please!"

"Jerry, please help me!"

"Please don't leave me here!"

"Jerry, please don't do this to me!"

Before I realized it, I was up, heart racing and soaked in sweat, with Lydia next to me, freaking out.

Lydia gave me a concerned but gentle stare.

I didn't know how long I had been screaming in my dream.

In confusion, "I-I...I thought...I saw Jerry."

"Goodness, Lexy, you're probably having a terrible nightmare!" Lydia exclaimed as she reached for a glass of water from the bedside.

"Please drink this. Should I turn the AC on?"

"Gosh! You're soaking in sweat, besty," said Lydia as she headed for the AC switch.

"Don't you worry, I'll be fine."

"I probably need a few minutes outside to clear my head," I ignored Lydia's concerns as I headed for my robe.

"I know you're going through a rough time right now, but please don't do this on your own."
