He pounced at me, but I quickly dodged.

“Aiden!”

I kept calling his name, but it felt like my voice couldn’t reach him. It was like there was a wall between us, something thick and impossible to break through.

His eyes looked empty, distant, almost hollow.

“This isn’t you!” I shouted, hoping something would snap him back.

I tried to run after Olivia but Aiden suddenly moved in front of me, blocking my path.

I tried to steady my voice even though panic was creeping up my throat.
