Claire pleaded to Ellyse as soon as she saw her after school.

“Mommy, please cook my favorite spaghetti at home, pretty please!” Ellyse’s head was throbbing from her encounter with Kai, and now she had to deal with her sulking daughter.

Even during their ride to the mansion, Claire kept begging her to cook spaghetti.

“Claire…there’s no pasta at home,” Atleast from what she can recall.

It has been two days since she last moved out and normally the maids would do the grocery shopping during the end of the week, it’s only friday so she doubts there’s pasta available at home.

“Then can we buy pasta?” Ellyse closed her eyes, trying to calm herself.

She had planned to drop off Claire and then go back to her office as soon as possible to start revising the floor plan.

“Claire-“

“Please mom! I really want spaghetti,” Ellyse couldn’t say no to her daughter, especially when she saw how hungry she was.

“Fine,” She blurts out half-heartedly.

“Yay!!! I’m so happy! Finally I can eat!” Ellyse only shook her head while driving, Claire was so happy, she wanted to jump inside the car!

“Okay but first, we have to stop by the grocery store,” Claire didn’t mind as long as she would taste her mother’s home cooked spaghetti.

When they arrived there, Ellyse took out a cart since she was planning to shop for food she can eat for the next following days. She thought it’ll be convenient since she’s already here.

Claire was skipping inside the store, she looked so happy and excited.

“Since I’m already cooking you spaghetti, you’re not allowed to buy sweets or junk food alright?” She warned her daughter who seemed unbothered upon knowing that.

Usually, she’ll sulk and press for Ellyse to buy her junk foods. But since she craved spaghetti so badly, she didn’t care.

Ellyse bought meat, oil, a couple of snacks and instant noodles. Claire so their cart filled with so much food, “You bought so much, Mom,” She commented.

Ellyse only chuckled and caressed her daughter’s head before they went to the next aisle. However, she didn’t expect who they saw next.

“Ellyse?” Agatha was also grocery shopping when she bumped into Ellyse.

Her eyes moved from her to Claire who’s innocently clinging onto her mother.

Instead of greeting her husband’s mistress, Ellyse stayed silent. “Your…daughter?” She asks.

“Yes,” She didn’t want to act happy nor surprised by seeing her so she maintained her usual expression.

“Hi sweetheart, what’s your name?” She asks nicely.

Ellyse wanted to scowl at her and leave, but she’s better than that. She will never stoop down her level let alone give her the satisfaction of her frustration.

“Claire…Claire Laurent,” Ellyse noted how Agatha’s eyebrows twitched. Of course Claire was her and Kai’s daughter.

“I like your braids, Claire,” She smiled at the young girl, lifting her right hand up to touch the braids Ellyse had done on Claire.

“Thankyou, my mom did it,” Claire answered.

Ellyse noticed the shiny diamond ring on Agatha’s ring finger. Her brows knitted together, in her head, she had assumed that maybe Kai had given her the ring when she saw them at the restaurant.

Her throat ran dry, she gripped the handle of her cart tightly, she wanted to leave so bad…she wanted to pull this girl’s hair and-

“Really? Well, you mom must adore you very much,” Agatha finally says before renewing her eyes at Ellyse who’s now in the brink of crashing out.

“Long time no see, Ellyse,” Agatha was always like this. For Ellyse, she was fake. She liked putting on this facade of a nice and innocent woman when in truth, she’d spoiled and rotten inside.

Ellyse managed to put on a fake smile, “I know.”

Agatha seemed to have sensed Ellyse’s aloofness, “Right, I’ll get going then,” She didn’t say anything to her and proceeded to push her cart towards the cashier.

“Mommy, who’s that girl?” Claire poked at her side.

“Just an old friend,” She answered simply.

But Agatha Langford was never a friend. Six years ago, she despised that girl so much for being a hindrance in her and Kai’s marriage.

She and her have met way before she knew Kai. They became close friends, and at the time, Agatha was telling Ellyse about this boy she’d been secretly going out with. Ellyse had no idea how that same boy would soon become her fiancé. The boy she loved so much.

Ellyse yawned before standing up to go downstairs. As she descended from the stairs, she heard Claire’s high-pitched voice from the dining area. “And we made stars too, grandma! I painted mine blue, because blue is my favorite color!” She chuckled. Her daughter loved Victoria so much, she always looked forward to her grandmother visiting their house.
