I emerged from the SUV, drew my weapon, and charged. The first enemy warrior came at me from the left. I ducked his claws and drove my fist into his ribs. He crashed into a tree.

Another attacked me from behind. I spun and knocked him down. “Push toward the eastern ridge!” I shouted. “We need an escape route!” Nobody answered, and I looked around.

The eastern ridge was already occupied. More of Kaizen’s warriors stood there. My stomach dropped realizing they had surrounded us.
