It is a lie,” I repeated.

Every pair of eyes turned toward me, as though trying to bore holes straight through my soul. The Alpha slowly turned to face me, and whispers erupted around the crowd, instantly making me regret speaking up.

I should have listened to the warning bells ringing in my head and stayed out of it.

“Could you repeat that?” he asked.

I shuddered at the change in his voice. It was firmer now, laced with a quiet warning—as if I would be severely punished if my accusation proved false.

The courage I had managed to gather quickly dissolved like smoke in the wind. My eyes dropped to the ground, unable to meet his piercing gaze.

“She lies, Your Majesty,” I whispered.

My eyes remained fixed on the ground, but I noticed his boots move away from me. Slowly, I lifted my head and watched him walk back to Valeria, taking her hand in his.

His jaw tightened as he looked at me, his silver eyes narrowing while I stood there fidgeting, silently wishing the ground would open and swallow me whole.

“But she bears my mark,” he said coldly. “How do you explain that? In fact, who do you think you are, telling me I cannot recognize my own mark?”

My lips parted, but no words came out. The whispers around me grew louder, spreading like wildfire.

“She has some nerve trying to ruin her sister’s happiness after ruining her own life.”

I glanced at Valeria, my blood boiling when I saw the faint smile playing on her lips.

She was enjoying this.

“I asked you a question!” the Alpha thundered.

His silver eyes burned with intensity, and fear flooded my chest so fiercely that I thought my heart might stop.

Just then, James stepped out from the crowd gathered to witness the Alpha King choose his bride.

My fists clenched at the sight of him. Memories of the passionate scene I had witnessed between him and Valeria flashed through my mind.

“Please do not concern yourself with that whore,” he said, spitting the words with disgust.

The insult instantly drew everyone's attention—including the Alpha King’s.

My blood boiled as James stepped closer to him.

“She’s only trying to destroy her sister’s life the same way she destroyed hers,” he announced loudly so the entire pack could hear.

“You see, Your Majesty, I was betrothed to her. I was ready to make her my wife as soon as possible. But guess what?”

He paused, squeezing his eyes shut as if struggling to contain his emotions.

What a cunning bastard.

“I caught her cheating on me… with a filthy omega.”

Gasps erupted around the crowd as if they were hearing the scandal for the first time.

Why were they all so eager to turn against me? Were they trying to recruit the Alpha King to their little party of hatred?

My eyes drifted back to the Alpha.

Disgust was clearly etched across his perfect features.

“I had no idea the Bloodfang Pack harbored such disgraceful individuals,” he said, his tone dripping with contempt as his gaze shifted from me to Valeria, who stood behind him like a fragile swan in the rain.

If only he knew the monster she truly was.

“Is this true?” he asked her.

Valeria immediately burst into tears.

Loud, exaggerated sobs.

I stared at her in disbelief, too stunned to react. I knew she hated me—but what had I done to deserve this?

“Yes… yes, it is true,” she cried.

Without hesitation, the Alpha King pulled her into his arms.

Fuck.

Anger surged through me like molten lava rushing through a volcano. Before I could stop myself, the words exploded out of me.

“That is not true! She’s a bloody liar!” I shouted.

My voice echoed across the clearing.

The next moment, Valeria was standing in front of me.

Her hand came flying toward my face.

“How dare you,” she whispered.

The slap rang out sharply.

Pain exploded across my cheek as I stumbled backward. My skin burned where her hand had struck me.

When our eyes met, I saw nothing but venom in hers.

She wanted me to understand something.

I was too weak to fight her.

And deep down…

She was right.

“Enough!”

The Alpha’s voice sliced through the chaos like a blade.

He stepped forward, his expression dark with warning.

The crowd immediately fell silent.

Valeria returned to his side, and James wasted no time seizing the moment.

“Andrea has brought nothing but shame to our pack!” he declared loudly. “She has ruined our reputation—even in front of the Alpha King of the Thornhaven Pack. I say we banish her!”

The wolves immediately echoed his words.

“Banish her!”

“Banish her!”

The chant thundered through the air.

My world shattered.

It felt like I was drowning.

Desperate, I searched the crowd for someone—anyone—who might save me.

That was when I saw her.

Lilian.

My stepmother.

Maybe… just maybe… her hatred for me wasn't strong enough to let them banish the daughter of the man she once loved.

At least, that was what I hoped.

But instead of helping me, she glared coldly.

Then she joined the others.

“Banish her!”

My heart sank.

“You can’t do this!” I cried.

But my voice was nothing more than a weak whisper against the roaring chants. My knees buckled, and I collapsed to the ground, finally accepting my fate.

Suddenly, a familiar scent surrounded me.

Warm.

Comforting.

Clover.

She knelt beside me, her voice soft with concern.

“Stay calm. I’ll make sure they don’t banish you, okay?” she whispered.

But I knew she was lying.

There was no way she could stop this.

No one could.

Especially not a mere Gamma like her.

The Alpha’s decision was final.

And the pack would always stand behind him.

I forced a weak smile, trying to hold back my tears.

But just as I feared, two powerful Betas grabbed me.

Their claws dug painfully into my arms as they dragged me across the dirt.

“No! Andrea!” Clover cried, her voice breaking.

I forced myself to smile at her.

Unable to look into her eyes, I silently mouthed the words:

“I’ll be fine.”

And finally…

I let the tears fall.

Andrea Clover’s scent disappeared with the wind and I slowly drifted back into my ocean of thoughts, letting the waves drown me until I couldn’t breathe anymore. She made it clear that she’d find a new home for me…a place more suitable than here. But that was exactly what she said to me when she convinced me to come here. I wanted to believe that she had a better place in mind for me, but most of me already knew that she didn’t. A knock on my door jerked me back to the present and I slowly sat up on the bed, pressing down on my temple like it would reduce the throbbing sensation inside there. “Come in..” my voice echoed barely above a whisper. The hinges creaked and the door pushed open, Don walked in and shut the door behind him. He walked over to my bed and stood at a distance, coughing softly into his fist. “I see you’re recuperating really fast.” He started, scanning me thoroughly. “I’m trying..” I replied dryly, trying as much as I could to not meet his eyes. “

“Oh my goddess, Andrea are you okay?” Clover asked, her voice so high it made the unbearable headache I was having more unbearable. Instinctively, I reached for my head, my face scrunched up in pain. “Sorry.” She frowned, handing me a cup of water which I gulped down immediately. “Are you okay?” She asked again.I took a deep breath, wondering if I was truly okay as memories of everything I’d been through within the last few hours came rushing back.I blinked back the tears as I remembered how mean the men were to me for absolutely no reason. Because I was wolfless? It made no sense.“I’m not okay,” I finally managed to say. Just as Clover was about to offer me a bit of comfort, the door flung open and both our heads cocked towards it. A young maid walked in with a plate of hot porridge, the smell wafting through the air and my stomach growling in response. She set it down on the table beside me, her face filled with visible disgust. “Master Don told me to bring this to you…” She

Andrea My life had just gone from a decent and comfortable one to something I can’t even understand anymore. Don would never look at me the same way anymore. The good reputation I had built here quickly crashed right before my eyes. Everyone would soon start to avoid me like I was some deadly plague. And to top it all, Don no longer has any use of me at the counter, I didn’t even know what to expect from working behind with the wine makers. The music went on outside, but I could feel the shift in the atmosphere. I heard their mumblings from inside here and even though their words were inaudible, I could tell they were speaking of me. I lay on the old bed, pulling the sheets over my face like it would block out the gut wrenching feeling in my chest. But of course I was only wasting my time. The voices slowly became distant as people dispersed. I heard shuffling outside my door as the other workers went back and forth. “I can’t believe she fooled everyone..” I heard s

Andrea My heart froze, and in that moment it felt like time had stood still and we were the only people in the room. I felt my body quiver as I watched the smile on her face grow wider. Why always me? Why was I never allowed even the slightest bit of happiness? “What sister? Aren’t you happy to see me?” She smiled, her voice laced with mischief. I swallowed hard, looking around to see if anyone was perhaps listening to us but the sound of the loud music and their happy chattering confirmed that it was impossible. “What are you doing here?” I managed to ask, my voice breathless and she let out a hysterical laughter. “What am I doing here? Oh honey I believe that’s a question for you.” She replied, her voice firm and eyes radiating with all the hatred she had for me. She quickly walked past me, gliding through the crowd while I watched quietly, unable to move or even say a word. Why did she have to come here? It could have been any other bar, any other tavern, why here? Did so

AndreaThe morning sun kissed my face warmly and my weary eyes fluttered open. I stirred on the old bed, stretching my arms above my head. Footsteps shuffled outside briskly, like everyone was hurrying somewhere. Children wailed, mothers whined and nagged. I sat up on the bed, my fingers digging into my ruffled hair as I waited patiently for my brain to fully wake up.A soft knock on the door disrupted my solitude and I reluctantly dragged my sore legs to see who the caller was. “Good morning miss Andrea..” the owner of the tavern greeted, his creased eyes smiling warmly at me like a father would smile at his little ones. “Good morning sir…” I greeted back. “Please call me Don… it’s short for Donovan.” His voice dropped weakly as his frail fingers held on to the hinges of the door. “I just wanted to let you know that your sister mentioned that your journey to this place was a long and tedious one. So you can take the day off to rest fully, then you can resume tomorrow..” he offe

Andrea“Clover?” The old man continued, leading us into another room. The smell of burning incense and raw gin pierced through the air, making my nose scrunch up. I pushed the old dusty curtain aside before leaning into the room. “You know if she has to stay here, I need to at least know what it is you’re both hiding from. So I can protect her if it ever comes down to that..” he urged on. I gestured to Clover not to speak and she already understood even before I said anything. “I wish I could disclose everything to you, but it’s beyond what we both can say. I’m just going to need you to please keep her hidden for my sake. I can’t lose her..” she said, her shoulders dropping lower than anything I’ve ever seen. Her voice dipped into something that yearned to be pitied and the old man took her word for it… hook, line and sinker. “Fine..” he sighed, rubbing the bald spot on his head. “I’ll keep her here..” “Thank you so much sir… I really appreciate it.” Gratitude warmed my voice a
