Diana’s POV
I waited for a while, hoping Ciara would come back out, so we could settle things, but she didn't. I stood up, went closer to her room and heard her best song playing softly from the Bluetooth speaker on her phone. She was listening to her best song by Taylor Swift, titled LONG LIVE. It is a song about friendship where Taylor Swift celebrates the journey she shared with her band and fans, reflecting on memories, victories and the unbreakable bond they formed. It's an anthem about cherishing moments with people who stood by you. I knew instantly that she was hurt by what I just did. "Ciara! Ciara!!" She didn't respond. Instead, the volume of the music increased. I tried to open the door, but she had locked it from inside. Ciara never locks her door from the inside. "Ciara! I am just gonna sit right here until you come out" I yelled, knocking on the door. I wasn't sure If she heard me due to the volume of the music she was playing. But my mind was made up, I was not leaving there until she came out. I had an idea; I stood up, went over to the table where a jotter was, took a pen, tore a sheet and wrote the words I AM SORRY, on it boldly written in capital letters. I slid it through the tiny opening at the foot of her door; I prayed and hoped that she would see it. I waited till it was past two, and that was when I finally gave up. Besides, I had to wake up to go with Raphael to see some business partners at Dawn, I needed to catch some sleep. As I stood up to move, the volume of the music went down, followed by the creaking sound of the doorknob. She bowed her head in shame. "I am sorry" we both blurted out at the same time. We chuckled. "Honestly, Diana, I think you were right," "Right about what?" I asked, looking confused. "I shouldn't have assumed All was well between you, Marcel,-" "No, no, Ciara, don't do that to yourself," I interrupted. "I should have let you know my thoughts about him, I should have-" "That's enough ciara, it wasn't your fault that my seven years relationship ended, neither was it your fault that I ended up falling in love with a cheat and a psychopath, for what it's worth, even if you had told me about what you think, I probably wouldn't have listened to you. No, I rephrase, I wouldn't listen to you because, at the time, I was madly in love with him; anything you would have said about him to me would have sounded like a betrayal." Ciara heaved a sigh "But Diana-" "Don't blame yourself, I was wrong to say what I said earlier about you not telling me about him, it wasn't your business, you did what a friend should, you stood by me, supported me, housed me" I paused "look around Ciara this is your house, you've been helping me from day one, I have barely done things for-" "What are friends for, uhm." She smiled I smiled back at her, walking closer to her. "I am sorry I made you go listen to Taylor Swift," I teased, poking her in the stomach. She grinned. "We both know Taylor Swift is my best artiste; that song just kinda went with the mood I was in at that moment." "I see" "Come on; I wasn't playing it because I was feeling bad or something", she scoffed. I chuckled "I know you weren't." "Oh, come on, you don't believe me?" I said "I do believe you," I lied, laughing hysterically. "I hate you, Diana", she said with a wide grin on her face. "I love you, Ciara" She began to pursue me around the living room; we continued like that for a while until it was 3am. "Oh my gosh, Ciara, it's gonna be morning soon. I need to go to bed." "Oh ýeah, you've got that meeting thing with the fine gentleman," Ciara said winking at me. "Come on, Ciara, I don't know where you are getting this idea from, but I am sure this marriage is nothing but a contract marriage to him, so it is to me, too." "Are you sure Diana?" She questioned folding her arms "I know for sure that there's something else in the gentleman's eyes and don't forget that-" "Yes, yes, I know, I am the one who suggested the contract marriage," I inhaled sharply. "I know that I am being selfish and greedy, but..." "I know Diana, you don't have to explain a thing to me. I am well aware of your situation, and I support your decision, but I also know a sparkle when I see them in someone's eyes." "Hahaha," I feigned a laughter. "What do you mean by sparkle." Ciara folded her arms and sat on the couch in the living room. "Well, you know that sparkle of excitement when you see someone that you just might like." "Oh my gosh! Ciara!" "Calm down; I am not saying you love him, at least not yet." "What do you mean by not yet?" She chuckled "You know, anything can happen within five years?" "Nothing is going to happen, quit looking for the love that's not there" I laughed "Okay! Okay, I give up but just know I will remind you about this day when you come back to me saying that you have fallen in love with him" "Never," I yelled as I turned to leave. "Okay, go catch some sleep now, we will talk in the morning." Ciara stood up from the couch and headed to her room door. As she opened the door, she turned to say, "I am glad you are doing this; either way, I know you are doing this for revenge, but I will still advise that when it comes to Raphael, don't be too uptight." "Whatever Ciara, goodnight." I chuckled "Goodnight." As I went into my room, Ciara's house was a two-bedroom apartment. We would have stayed in the same room, but she had a lot of stuff. As I lay on my bed thinking about the introduction later today, I wondered if I should tell Ciara about the other reason why I agreed to marry him. If I told her the reason, she would assume that it was because I was in love with him already. Could this be possible? Was I really in love with him?Diana’s POV Moving closer to me, she asked, "Why didn't you tell me he was here?" her voice a whisper."I tried to but you weren't getting it."She turned and greeted him respectfully. "I am Ciara Bennett." "Well, I am Sebastian Hayes."Ciara's jaw dropped in amazement.Sebastian smiled."Tell me you are joking""No, I am not joking; I am Sebastian Hayes, son of the mayor of this great city.""Oh my gosh, I have heard so much about you." She lied Ciara had this funny attitude of pretending to have heard about someone she's just meeting for the first time, but it's nothing serious; it's just one of her old daddy jokes."Really?""Oh no, I am just playing with you" She laughed happily."Oh my, you almost got me, dear Ms Bennett.""It's Ciara, please." She corrected."Okay... noted Ciara." He smiled. She turned to face me."How's he doing? He is going to be fine soon.""We don't know yet; Shania went in with the doctor as he insisted he had to see a family member, and no one else was
Diana’s POV "I am sorry I am late, If I had been here earlier all this wouldn't have happened""It's fine, what matters is that you are here now.""I am surprised you've still got those moves," Shania said punching him lightly."Oh those moves, they come in handy when I need them."They kept on discussing forgetting that I was in their midst. I wasn't angry because I understood that it had probably been a while since they had seen each other. Plus, it also felt good to see Raphael smile genuinely.I was about to move away when I felt his hands on me, griping them tightly a little bit, then reducing their grip. I understood what it meant.I smiled. He needed me there with him. Shortly after a loud screeching sound came from the microphone on the podium.Mr Lorenzo Junior was on the podium and was going to address everyone."I am sorry for what you all had to experience here right now; please, it's with deep and great sadness that I bring to you the news that this introduction party h
Diana’s POV What just happened? I felt Raphael heave a sigh of relief. It seemed like he knew what just happened. Slowly, he released his grip on me, pulled me away slightly, and then placed a kiss on my forehead. My heart raced. Why would he do such a thing to me? Without warning.I blushed. He turned to look in the direction where Marcel was standing, but he was no longer standing; instead, he was on the floor panting heavily.I saw a strange person standing beside him. I had never seen this person before; he didn't look like the Lorenzos either, but he had a charisma like theirs, and he wore a perfumed that I recognised. It was one of the unique scents that Lorenzo always produced. I remembered one of my discussions with Gramps years back, that was during my first year in my relationship with Marcel. Marcel had gone to attend to something, so I was left with Gramps in their home for a while. I would have gone home, but Marcel had insisted that I stay and get familiar with Gramp
Diana’s POV Behind him were Marco, Anna and a few other people I didn't recognise, they were probably friends of Marco or Marcel who also didn't want my engagement with Raphael. They didn't look like family members; you would know a Lorenzo when you saw one; they had a different charisma, and the way they carried themselves was different. Not like I am being biased, but the truth is they walk and talk like they own the world. Well, you wouldn't blame them. That's what comes with being the most prestigious family in New York City.Even Marcel had this trait, but he was more subtle than the others. The others were outright rude; I didn't notice this about Marcel when we were dating, maybe because I was blindly in love, so I was overlooking most of his excesses, but now that I was free from the shackles of a stupid love, I could see him for who he is.Looking at him standing over there with those people behind him, panting heavily. It made me wonder what I saw in him that even made me
Diana's POVI turned my face away from him and looked towards the direction of Raphael. He had a big, wide, happy smile on his face. Seeing him smile at me that way was making me feel strange. What's this feeling? As I went down the stairs, I saw him walk down to the base of the stairs with his right hand outstretched. "Please allow me." I stretched forward my left arm to him, he held it and helped me down the stairs."You look ravishing," he said, staring widely into my eyes. His eyeballs were big and intoxicating. I blushed."Thank you."Everyone's eyes were fixed on me; I wasn't sure if it was the dress, my face, my heels or the fact that I was going to get married to Raphael. But whichever the case is, I wasn't going to be bothered about it.Ciara followed quietly behind us. There was soft music playing in the background. People were drinking their wine and toasting to whatever it was they were discussing. My eyes rolled until they stopped on my adopted parents. My mother's eye
Raphael’s POV After the long moment of silence, I picked up my phone and was about to text Diana to let her know about the change of things, but I stopped halfway into the text. I wondered If she was going to like it. I didn't want to jeopardise this opportunity I had to marry the woman of my dreams.Gramps noticed that my behaviour was a little bit off. "Are you thinking about the past?" He asked "No, I am worried about Diana.""Diana? Why?" "I don't think she's gonna like the idea of inviting all this many people to the introduction.""Then don't tell her about it" "Gramps?" I protested."Come on son, do you want her or not?""I want her so much Gramps""Then do as I say.""But if I don't tell her she's going to come the way she's supposed to dress to an office-""That's not a big deal" he interrupted "That can be arranged, Raphael""But how Gramps?""It's simple, does she not have friends?""Gramps? What does her friend have to do with this?" "Are you going to listen to me or
