Diana's POV

"No, that can't be," I managed to say.

I felt so weak, I could barely move my body. Ciara helped me inside her room, as it was the closest to the living room. She laid me on her bed, placing a pillow beneath my head.

"Hold on, I will be right back."

"Where are you going? Don't worry, I'll be fine. I just got dizzy, that's all," I said, trying to stand but falling back down.

"Don't say anything, Diana. I will be right back," she yelled.

I lay quietly waiting for her. Shortly after, she came back with a face towel and a bowl of water. She sat at the edge of the bed, just the right distance from where my forehead was.

She dipped the towel into the bowl of water and squeezed it, then used it to clean my forehead and neck. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"Can't you see that I'm trying to wipe your sweat away and also trying to reduce your temperature?"

"I feel dizzy."

"Come on, Diana, you're scaring me," she said while still cleaning my forehead.

"I'll be fine. You don't have t

Marcel's POV"Mom, what are you saying?" "I am saying that Raphael knows the truth about the slush funds, the embezzlement case.""How's that possible?""Because he met with the lawyer who made everything up, and he couldn't stand his ground. But not to worry—I already punished the lawyer for not keeping his mouth shut.""And what did you do, Mom?" "I did what I had to do, what a mother should do to protect her son.""Don't tell me you—""Marcel, what I did to him doesn't matter. It doesn't concern you. All you need to be focused on now is how to get yourself that company. Also, think of how to clear our names from this scandal, because I'm sure your brother has a record of the whole discussion with the lawyer.""That bastard seems to get his way in everything," I grumbled, kicking against the wall."You will hurt yourself, Marcel!" Mother warned. But I wouldn't listen. I had woken up that morning alone in my room. Serena had told me she was going to spend the night with her parent

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 69— The Panic

Diana's POV"I can't be pregnant, Ciara, no I can't afford to be, not now." I panicked."Calm down Diana, calm down, you are panicking.""I am panicking? Seriously Ciara, you of all people should know—""Come on Diana," Ciara interrupted. "You need to chillax girl.""There's a fetus growing inside me and you ask me to chill!" I feigned a laughter."Oh my gosh Diana, you are being so paranoid right now, just calm down."Louise leaned on his executive seat, his hands folded and watching as I panicked until he couldn't have it anymore.A loud thud on the desk in front of us made us quiet instantly. "Okay, I think I have seen enough of this madness." His gaze shifted from Ciara's to mine. "Do any of you mind telling me what's really going on here?""Uhm, Louise—"Ciara was going to talk but I began to step on her toes, signaling to her not to say a word. But Ciara was too stubborn; she never listens to me, especially when she's certain that what she's about to do will do me more good than

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 68— A threat in the cradle

Mrs. Kensington's POV"Can't we just let her live her life alone?" Gerrard said."Are you serious right now, Gerrard? Leave her be?"He nodded."No way it's going to happen. We aren't letting her be, not when I am alive, not when my daughter isn't happy that she's in the same family she is to be married into.""But they could both live as sisters.""Can you even hear yourself? Live as sisters?" I scoffed."Yes.""Just shut up and drive, Gerrard. I think you would be very happy when I tell our biological daughter that her father wants her to live happily with her sworn enemy.""Hey, come on, Sylvia. That's kinda harsh to say. Look, I believe we can make the two of them live peacefully with each other.""Gerrard, I need you to get this into that thick skull of yours. There's no living peacefully if Diana remains in that family, so if you don't mind, just shut the fuck up and drive."The remaining hour drive to our home was silent. As he drove, I kept trying to devise means to get to Dia

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 67— The test that changes everything

Diana's POV"Here, wear this," Ciara handed over to me a nose mask and a face cap before coming down from the cab."Why are you giving me this?" I asked."For disguise.""Disguise? Why?" I asked, a little bit confused."Oh my gosh, Di, I can't believe you are really asking me that right now.""Come on, Ciara, why are you making me disguise?""What else could be the reason, Diana? You are married to the eldest son of the richest family in the whole of New York City. This eldest son is also stinkingly rich with his own fucking money, and then a few weeks ago, there was a scandal about him siphoning money from his grandfather's company into a slush fund account offshore. His picture was posted on the news alongside yours—your wedding photo to be precise—and you ask me why the disguise?" She took in a deep breath. It was then I realized why she did that. I didn't even know she came with things like that with her."Are you both not alighting here anymore?" the cab driver asked."A minute,

Mrs. Kensington's POV"I told you times without number, Gerrard, that you should take that picture out, but you wouldn't listen," I yelled."I know, and I am sorry that I didn't do that on time. I am sorry our daughter got to see, it's just—""It's just what, Gerrard? Why are you holding back? What's wrong with you, for Christ's sake?""It's hard to let her go!" he blurted out, his voice a little louder.I scoffed. "Seriously, Gerrard? So you would choose an adopted child over your biological child?""No, it's not like that, it's just... you know..." he stuttered."Look, I have had enough of your whining, Gerrard. Go get that picture frame out of here now."He hesitated."Gerrard! Do you want our daughter or not?""I want her.""Then get that frame out of here. She's upset already by it. I wouldn't let you or anyone destroy my chances of having a better life with my biological daughter."Just in case you are wondering who Gerrard is, Gerrard is my husband, yes, Mr Kensington. Gerrard

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 65— Two lines, one truth

Diana's POVHonestly, I never expected my adopted parents to show up in Ciara's household. How did they even know I was there? Were they following me, or maybe they wanted to just see Ciara, perhaps pass a message through her to me?And that wasn't even the most annoying part of it all. The way they came—threatening Ciara and I—was just so much for me to handle. I had no other choice than to lash out. Besides, they aren't my parents anymore, so what's the point of holding back?We watched as both of them left Ciara's house."Oh my gosh, baby girl, I never thought you had it in you!" Ciara exclaimed."I am no longer the girl they used to know, Ci.""Uh, uh, I can see that, and I'm sure they know that now.""I hope they did. Why were they even here in the first place? What business do they have with you?""My dear, it beats me too. I am as surprised as you are.""Well, I guess that's going to end today because of the way we warned them.""I hope so. Now, back to where we left off.""Oh
