Alison’s POV
They stopped at Vandyke’s house, not a hospital like I had expected them to. When I saw the building, no one had to tell me it was his. It was massive, like four houses merged together, yet he was single, and Cory didn’t even live with him. Poor guy. I was the first to climb down wondering what the guards were going to do next, they also climbed down and brought his stretcher out, then just like that they set him down in the driveway, dressed his wound, and bandaged it - no hospital. I watched in disbelief as he sat down, though under anaesthesia, gave orders like he hadn’t been shot. Who was this guy? Was he not rather… weird? Who was he? I watched as they placed a sling over his shoulder and then he got up like it was all alright. He swaggered to the entrance and then stopped and turned around, “First aid lady! Come here!” he called out to me, then proceeded to enter the building. I followed him and one of his guards into the house. “Follow me.” He instructed me again as if I already wasn’t doing that. The guard stopped but I continued till we were up the stairs and at his bedroom door. He bent down till he was on face level with me, “Do you know what you did was dangerous? There was a shooting! You should have stayed down. Why did you come to me without thinking? What if they shot you?” “I.. I was…” I had no reasonable explanation for what I did. It was on impulse, I was seeing my revenge experiment slip through my fingers right before my eyes. What was I supposed to do? “I was trying to save you because… I…” Before I could land, he straightened up and took a few steps back. It looked like he was going to fall so I rushed to help but he didn’t lose his balance. He chuckled, “These people gave me way too much anesthesia.” He sat on the bed with a thud. Then suddenly he pulled me closer till I was a hair’s breadth away from him. “Why did you come to me? Did they send you?” His grip on me tightened. “Who? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I began to struggle to break free but this guy was super strong. Nobody has had such a strong grip on me like this before. “Those bullets. They were meant for me, right? Because they had silver in them.” He said tightening his grip on my arm even more. “Silver? What the hell was he talking about?” I began to whimper in pain. Who was this man and what trouble had I gotten myself into? “It’s me, Alison. Don’t you recognize me?” I asked. “Al who?” “Alison Quinn, a couple of weeks ago we met…” He flung me on the bed and bent on all fours like a wild animal. The hairs on my body stood up and I could feel the goosebumps cover my body. Alison do something! I was shouting to myself but what could I do? This man was strong, and not in his right mind, he was going to kill me before I could do anything. He was acting like a wild animal that had caught its prey. I sat up and shifted away from him but he kept crawling and I could swear that I felt an animal’s presence in the room. He didn’t look away, he just kept coming straight at me. I didn’t know what to do, I had to think pretty fast, I sat there helplessly as he pounced on me then without properly thinking about it, I kissed him. Yes, I did, maybe that would tame him. Even wild animals can be tamed right? So I pressed my lips to his and kissed him passionately, it stopped him for a few seconds, he didn’t do anything he just relaxed as my lips caressed his. Then he kissed back, it was soft at first, then it got heated, he started to rip off my first aid apron, then he sniffed me. Then nodded, “Ah, human.” Then he lay down quietly beside me, not saying a word but his eyes were wide open. What did he mean by human? What was going on? I was at all levels of scared and confused that I couldn’t get up and run so I sat there crying. Thinking about all the guards in the house that would prevent me from leaving. As I was crying my eyes out he patted my knee gently, still lying there with his eyes open. “I won’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you.” He whispered over and over. I nodded and wiped my tears waiting for him to sleep so I could escape. The yearn for revenge had once more eluded me, I just wanted to be out of there. His eyes finally closed and I put myself together and tiptoed to the door and soon I was out of there. I walked down a long hallway and then down some stairs and I was back in the parlour, I opened the main door and there was a thick tall guy at the exit. “You can’t leave now.” “Why not?” I stubbornly asked him. “It’s getting late, it’s not safe out there.” He replied. “It’s not safe in here either.” I snapped back. “Let me go or else I will call the police.” That seemed to work because he stepped out of my way and backed off. I stepped onto the streets and started my journey, but I didn’t even know where I was going. I hadn’t really been to Moonlight County; it seemed like an isolated town somehow. It was close and yet far if you get what I mean. As I walked through the groves, I could sense that I was being followed, I turned around and saw a wolf, I paused and froze; A wolf? What was one doing here? Oh god! This was the end of me!Ralph’s POV“Alison is not pregnant, and if she is, she can’t hide it forever. Pregnancy always shows in the end, doesn’t it?” Charlotte replied, saving me the stress of having to lie.My wolf gives me a hard time anytime I lie to Cory, I find it uncomfortable to lie to him and other people I care so deeply about. That’s why I dance around the question instead of answering it if I don’t want to tell the truth.Cory was not satisfied with that answer,“Is Alison on talking terms with you now?”Charlotte nodded, “We sorted things out,”Cory looked doubtful. " Are you sure? Maybe she hasn’t updated you on the current happenings in her life. But her boss told me…”“I’m her mother, Cory,” Charlotte replied.“Melody is a wolf, it’s not hard for her to identify a pregnant woman by just looking at her,” Cory argued.“So why did you come by the shop last night since you believe whatever Almighty Melody says?” Charlotte yelled. That shut Cory up and I loved it.“My bad, sorry for doubting you.
Ralph’s POVWhen I got to my office at the company I was informed that I had a guest.“Name?” I demanded.“Charlotte Mason,” my secretary informed me. That was Alison’s mother so I quickly asked them to let her in. I’m sure she would brief me on what happened last night since Cory wouldn’t give me the full story.“Let her in.”I sat behind my desk and waited as she briskly walked in. The look on her face told a story of a woman in distress.“Charlotte. Are you okay?” I couldn’t help but exclaim.“Mr. Vandyke. I need your help now more than ever. Isaac found me. I think it’s because my shop is gaining popularity but there’s trouble. Cory came to my shop and talked about Alison in the presence of Isaac. Now Isaac knows he has a child with me and her name is Alison.”Damn! Me and Cory are just trouble makers. First I resurrected a dead issue and now Cory is taking over from where I left off. I reached across the table and gr
Ralph POVI followed Alison to eavesdrop a little on why she wanted to see her friend so badly and it turns out that it’s because of Melody. I didn’t want Melody to take Alison to labor court. She quit the job because I asked her to and if she’s going to get fined because of that then I have to take responsibility.I left her door and went straight to my room to dress up. After putting on my tuxedo, I left the house and drove straight to Melody’s spa, hoping to catch up with her. Unfortunately, I missed her. I was told that she left a few minutes before my arrival. As I was about to leave for her studio I met Alison’s friend in the parking lot. Her eyes lit up and she quickly ran up to me. My bodyguards tried to stop her from getting any closer but I signalled them to let her be. She frowned.“You didn’t use to walk around with your guards.” She remarked.“Yeah, things… have changed,” I replied. She smiled, “Have things changed with A
Alison’s POVRalph and I sat at the breakfast table still upset at each other. We had our meal in silence till he decided to break it.“I’m sorry for yelling at you,” He may have been expecting feedback but I had none for him, I’m not ready to forgive him yet.“If you want to talk to your friend, why don’t you just do it on the phone?” He continued, yet I still ignored him. I could feel how much he hated the silent treatment and it gave me joy, call me a narcissist but it feels good.“Okay fine, I will bring her here to see you.” He said.I stared at him with raised eyebrows, seriously? I thought he didn’t want anyone to know this place, was he going to break his own rules for me?“Will you?”He nodded, “I don’t want you to ever think of sneaking out of there, so if you want to see your friend then I will bring her here.” “Oh, so you don’t mind risking our location anymore?”“Precautionary measures will be
Alison’s POVAs I opened my eyes that morning I moaned in pain. This pregnancy thing was beating me up. It was rapidly washing away my strength and sucking the joy out of my mornings. The old me would have jerked out of bed and dashed into the shower to have my joy bath. Now I’m so sore that I can barely get up. Sometimes I cry a little I don’t know how I became so emotional,“Is everything alright?” Came Vandyke’s deep but tender voice. I slowly craned my neck in his direction to catch a glimpse of him. He moved from the doorway towards my bed as I watched him with a faint smile on my face. He bent over me and touched my forehead with the back of his hands.“You don’t look okay, should I call Dr. Mac?”“I’m fine,” I replied. He stared at me for a long while before trying to help me get out of bed,“No Ralph, I’m weak,”“So do you want me to bathe you?” He asked and I only shook my head,“No, I don’t feel like bathing.”“Okay, that’s fine. Then I will clean you up so we can have break
Third Person POV“Isaac, you and I don’t have any children. How many times do I have to tell you that?” Charlotte yelled as Isaac’s bodyguards surrounded the doorway preventing anyone from going inside.“You gave her my mother’s name because you know my mother lives in this county and when I’m going through the records I wouldn’t bother searching for anyone with my mother’s name. But that was a dumb mistake!” He exclaimed.“If it was dumped, why didn’t you find us after all these years?” Charlotte fired back.“Because I wasn’t searching for you, I thought you aborted the baby just like you were supposed to.”Cory couldn’t contain himself upon hearing that; he punched Isaac in the face, breaking his nose and causing him to bleed. His guards pointed their guns at Cory and one of them fired a warning shot. This drew the attention of Cory’s guards who always monitor him from afar, they forced their way into the supermarket as customers ran helter-
