Too Late: I'm Pregnant With The Alpha King's Pup

Felicity:

"I'm sorry, Luna Felicity, but you're not pregnant."

Doctor Maeve's words pierced my heart.

After two years of relentless trying for a baby, Felix and I had put all our hope on this new method Doctor Maeve suggested.

Turns out it’s just another disappointment.

I swallowed the tears threatening to spill and gave her a small nod.

"Is there something wrong with my body?" I asked softly.

My Alpha husband had fought against everyone to marry an Orphan Omega like me.

And it kills me to think that I can’t even give him an heir.

Every time I told him the test was negative, I saw a little more of the hope leave his eyes.

It tells me I’m not good enough and do not deserve the kindness he showered on me.

The doctor glanced at my chart before looking back at me.

"Your test results look normal," she said. "I'd hoped we'd have a positive result by now, but that hasn't happened. Although …” she hesitated, “of course it’s not necessary, but if we can run a few simple tests on Alpha Felix as well.. Just to rule out a few possibilities.”

“Alpha Felix is perfectly alright, I assure you,” I try to sound convincing as I hoped it was.

In fact I’ve talked to Felix about it, but he’s defensive of his virility every time, scolding me for even proposing it.

Doctor Maeve nodded, reaching for the syringe on her desk.

"I'll give you a trigger shot today. It should help time your ovulation. Once you get home, have intercourse with Alpha Felix within the window I discussed with you."

The air in her office felt suffocating.

I hated sitting across from her, hearing the same disappointing news every month.

After cleaning my skin, she administered the trigger shot with a quick injection into my lower abdomen.

I said goodbye to the doctor and walked out of her office in a daze.

The driver had dropped me off next to the mall earlier, but I couldn't bear waiting for him now.

I booked a cab instead of waiting for the driver.

I needed to get home and tell Felix that we had to try again tonight while not telling him about the bad news or the trigger shot.

Walking into our grand mansion, where Felix had given me the life of a Luna, only filled me with even more guilt.

With a heavy heart, I had barely stepped through the front entrance when my gaze landed on a small teddy bear lying on the floor.

A frown creased my forehead. Maybe he had guests over.

The living room was deserted though.

Then I noticed our bedroom door standing slightly ajar.

I walked towards the bedroom, stopping just outside the door when a voice drifted from inside.

"I'm sorry, but she's useless."

I frowned as I'd recognize that voice anywhere.

Ellen Blunt.

She was Felix's late elder brother's widow. What’s she doing in my bedroom?

After Miller’s death, Felix had kept his promise to his brother, supporting Ellen and raising his nephew – four year old Noah.

He had been so devoted to them that I sometimes feel like he spent more time with them than with me.

I’m not jealous, even though sometimes they make me feel like an outsider.

Noah was suffering from a severe disease that needed so much attention and care.

Everytime I see how doting Felix is with Noah, it makes me realize what a great father he’ll be, if only I can give him a pup.

I carefully peered through the narrow gap in the door.

Noah was asleep on the couch, with a pillow propped beside him to keep him from falling off.

But then where was Ellen?

I took a hesitant step to the left.

The sight before me made my heart stop.

She was in bed, completely naked under the same blanket, with my husband Felix.

A sharp breath caught in my throat.

My hands curled into fists, trembling with rage, betrayal, and the horrifying realization that my entire life was falling apart.

I could see their bodies moving together under the blanket.

They continued fucking as they talked, so comfortably that it was obvious this wasn't the first time.

"The last bone marrow transplant didn't work. I am freaking out, babe—”

Ellen bit her bottom lip, letting out a soft moan as Felix thrust into her from behind.

Her fingers tightened around the pillow beneath her.

My pillow.

The very one I slept on every night.

"The doctor insisted again the transplant must come from a blood relative of similar age," Ellen murmured against Felix’s ear before pressing a deep kiss on his lips. " When can that barren witch get knocked up? It is Noah's only remaining chance. If Felicity can’t be pregnant soon, we’d lose Noah forever! "

My hand flew to my chest, clutching at the sharp ache spreading through it as tears clouded my vision.

"Our son needs you," said Ellen.

My gaze drifted towards Noah.

I had always wondered why he looked so much like Felix.

Noah wasn't Miller's son.

He was Felix's.

The two of them had deceived everyone for years—not just me, but Miller as well.

I struggled to breathe, every word driving another crack through my heart.

Felix hesitated, "What about the newborn? They won't survive the surgery."

"I don't care." She mumbled without the slightest trace of guilt. "That's why you married her, isn't it? She's an Omega with no one powerful enough to question what happened to her or the baby during childbirth."

The words struck me like repeated blows to the head.

That couldn't be right.

I blinked furiously, trying to clear my tears and convince myself I'd misheard.

“Felix?”

Ellen shifted to face him, her fingers trailing over his bare chest.

"I hate sharing you.”

“You won't have to for much longer," Felix replied without hesitation.

Felix gently cupped Ellen's face, his thumb brushing across her cheek before he kissed her.

His voice was calm, almost affectionate.

"Once Noah is healed and she's gone, nothing will stand between us anymore. Our son will finally have the life we've always wanted for him."

Everything suddenly fell into place.

The room spun around me, and the world slowly dissolved into a blur.

"But, Ellen, we have to be patient. She can't suspect anything until she's pregnant," Felix said calmly.

My breathing turned shallow.

I clutched my chest, desperately trying to pull air into my lungs as panic tightened around my ribs.

My entire life had fallen apart in the span of a few minutes.

I had been drowning in guilt, believing I had failed my husband because I couldn't give him a child.

All this time, he had already planned my future.

Every fertility appointment.

Every ounce of hope I'd clung to.

None of it had been for us.

And somehow, I had been so blind that I had never once questioned him.

Goddess, how stupid had I been?

"I'll ask the driver if she's already left the shopping mall," Felix uttered and my heart lurched.

I was so afraid of giving him another piece of bad news, that I lied to him about my visit to the hospital.

I sprang to my feet.

I couldn't let him find me here.

The old me would never believe that I’d be frightened by my husband one day. But I did.

I can’t confront him, I can’t see him.

The only thing I can think of is to run, to save myself from this fucked-up messed-up world.

The moment I walked out of the mansion, I didn't even look back.

I ran straight across the road and into the woods.

I didn't know what I was thinking.

I kicked off my shoes and sprinted with every ounce of strength I had left.

Tears streamed down my face, carried away by the wind.

I wasn't even sure reality had fully sunk in yet.

I was only trying to hold on to my sanity.

But for how long?

He was an Alpha.

Where could I possibly go?

The questions kept crashing into my mind as sobs escaped my lips.

I kept running with whatever little strength I had left until I suddenly tripped over something and landed face-first on the forest floor.

"Ouch," I winced, pushing myself up before turning around to see what I had tripped over.

A completely naked man lay on the forest floor, broad-shouldered and powerfully built.

A large snake tattoo coiled across his chest as he struggled to breathe, his gaze locked onto mine.

It was his foot that had sent me crashing to the ground.

Fear and fury overwhelmed me for a moment.

That’s the second man tricked and trapped me today.

I kicked his leg with whatever strength was left in me.

He didn’t move, still lying on the ground, only let out a small groan.

Wait, Is he alright? I began to feel guilty about my sudden lashout and knelt beside him to check on his condition.

“I’m so sorry. I just had a really really bad day, okay? “ I whispered.

 He gazed at me, and winced.

The air was unbearably hot around there.

Sweat beaded across my forehead within seconds.

Every breath scorched my lungs.

I looked around, expecting to find a wildfire.

There was nothing.

My eyes slowly returned to him.

The heat wasn't coming from the forest.

It was coming from him.
