Alison’s POV
It was a Monday morning and I had called in sick at the daycare where I work and asked for permission to be late. I was so pumped up on destroying Cory’s career that I forgot to come up with a story that was malicious enough to get him fired. It wasn’t until I was allowed into the HR office that I realized how stupid I had been. “Hello, please have a seat.” The HR said. She looked like she was in her 30s warm and friendly, it was the man standing beside her that intimidated me. He was a tall muscular man who looked like he was in his late 30’s or early 40’s. He had the most hazel eyes I had ever seen, they were a bit strange, he also had a very handsome face and yet did not smile at all. My knees wobbled as I sat down, “good morning.” “Good morning, what brings you here? I heard you wanted to see me?” The HR asked. I could feel the man’s cold glare in my periphery which made me shiver uncomfortably, “Erm it’s about… Cory…Cory Vandyke.” I stuttered. The woman’s smile faded into that of horror as the man’s stern look became even more stern. “Did he do something?” The man spoke up in a very deep voice that gave me the chills. His voice was just as stern as his demeanor. I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to leave, I don’t even know what I was thinking when I came here. It must've been the alcohol filling my head with very stupid ideas. “It’s fine,” I said, getting up and trying to escape. “Stop right there.” The man said and swaggered up to me, he gave me another hard and piercing look and then muttered, “Come with me.” He didn’t wait for me to protest or say anything; he just walked away and I had no option but to follow with my wobbly knees. How on earth did I get here? Couldn’t I have come up with a better revenge than this? I stood by him in the elevator and then within a few minutes we walked into his office, it had the word ‘CEO’ inscribed on his door. I gasped, why was the CEO so interested in Cory’s business? “Sit down.” He had this authoritative way of speaking that made you obey him without any questions. I sat behind his desk as he sat across me with hands hugging each other on the desk. “I believe you came all the way to make a report about my son so why have you changed your mind?” I shot him a look and was suddenly taken aback by what he had just said. Son? Son? That was Cory’s father? How? I looked up at his face to see the resemblance, there was none. He had jet-black hair, Cory was blonde. His eyes were so hazel but Cory’s eyes were brown. He also didn’t look old enough to have a 20-year-old for a son. He smirked, “I look too good to be Cory’s dad right? Well, I’m 40 years old.” He replied. “In case you think that I’m a child.” “Erm…” Wait did he say 40? 40? I must have guessed right then but still, he looked too good to be 40, I lowered my gaze to his hand trying to find his wedding ring there was none. “I’m single, Cory’s mom died.” He said when he saw me looking at his finger. “Now tell me; why are you here?” I took in a deep breath and shook my head. I had to go back home and restrategize. This won’t do. This plan would fail, the CEO is his dad he can never lose his job. I had come up with another story. “Cory bought some products from my mother but his card declined. He promised to send a check and gave us this address in case we didn’t trust that he would pay back.” I said. “How on earth did his card decline? What does he use his money for?” He fumed. Then pulled out his first drawer. “How much was it?” “50 bucks,” I replied. He sighed and handed me 100 bucks. “Keep the change and sorry for all the trouble.” “Thank you, Mr. Vandyke.” I took the money and got up. “Don’t mention.” He said, I walked to the exit thinking he would ask for my name but he didn’t. I may have been heartbroken and down but at least I had 100 bucks for some groceries and a time to restrategize my revenge plan. I got to the daycare where I work and I was mobbed by the kids. It feels so good to be back, they’re my therapy. Maybe instead of brooding over my pain and planning a silly revenge I should have come to my babies instead. “Your eyes looked so swollen, have you been to the hospital?” Roberta asked me. I let out a deep sigh. Because I called in sick they must’ve all thought that I was truly sick. I wasn’t going to tell anyone the truth but I trust Roberta, “I’m not medically sick, just emotionally unwell.” “Huh? She stared at me looking totally lost. I let out another sigh, “On my birthday I let Cory break my virginity…” I stared at her for a reaction and she looked confused, “You love Cory right?” She asked, trying to understand my sadness. “In the middle of sex, he stopped and broke up with me. He said I was bleeding and the sight of blood triggered him.” “Oops.” Roberta covered her mouth. “That’s not the worst part, I went to my mom’s place the next day to seek consolation, and guess who I caught naked in bed with my mother?” Roberta shook her head in disgust, “no way!” I nodded, “from the discussion I overheard it seems that they have had it going on for a while.” “My goodness!” Roberta exclaimed. “This morning I stormed off to his office intending to make him lose his job. I get there and tell me why I’m now finding out that Cory is the son of the CEO of Elektro Hardware and Software?” “You don’t mean it” Roberta exclaimed. “I kid you not.” “My goodness. Did you tell his father what he did?” “No! I couldn’t possibly have done that.” I replied. “Wait! I think I have an idea. You want to make Cory pay for what he did right?” I nodded, “I say, sleep with his dad too.” I rolled my eyes at her, what would a man of his caliber do with a girl like me? That would be nearly impossible. This girl is funny. “Say something realistic, you can’t just bump into a CEO in regular places and seduce him,” I replied. “Meeting Ralph Vandyke is not that difficult, he’s a ladies' man and loves to party at Moonlight nightclub and hotel or the moonlight pool. He's the mayor of Moonlight County basically because he created that county for his own interests. If you go there you’re likely to meet him. He has a reputation with the ladies. I don't think it should be hard to seduce him and get your revenge.” As I soaked in what Roberta was saying my eyes glimmered with excitement, I imagined Cory’s face when he eventually finds out I fucked his dad.Alison’s POVOn a normal day, you’ll think that you’ll take flight when confronted by a wolf but the feeling isn’t the same when you finally meet one. As it growled at me I froze. What do you do when you are trapped in the groves with a wolf? Do you drop to the floor and play dead or freeze till it walks away? I have no answer for that. I just stood there sweating and trying not to cry.I was so sorry for disobeying Mr. Vandyke, he had warned me against such places at night but I didn’t listen, this was all my fault and now I was going to be eaten by a wolf.Just as the animal charged towards me, another one sprang out of nowhere and they started to fight. I dropped to the floor and shuffled backwards. Trying to get away from the fighting scene.Just then another person appeared. I recognized him as the guard who asked me not to leave. The wolves escaped the moment he appeared which shocked me. Why were they running away from a normal human being like me? What the hell is wrong with t
Alison’s POVThey stopped at Vandyke’s house, not a hospital like I had expected them to. When I saw the building, no one had to tell me it was his. It was massive, like four houses merged together, yet he was single, and Cory didn’t even live with him. Poor guy.I was the first to climb down wondering what the guards were going to do next, they also climbed down and brought his stretcher out, then just like that they set him down in the driveway, dressed his wound, and bandaged it - no hospital.I watched in disbelief as he sat down, though under anaesthesia, gave orders like he hadn’t been shot. Who was this guy? Was he not rather… weird? Who was he?I watched as they placed a sling over his shoulder and then he got up like it was all alright. He swaggered to the entrance and then stopped and turned around, “First aid lady! Come here!” he called out to me, then proceeded to enter the building. I followed him and one of his guards into the house.“Follow me.” He instructed me again
Alison’s POVI got a message that my application to volunteer at the games had been accepted but here was the problem, I had been accepted for both ring girl and first aid. I guess it was my lucky day. I lied about having a background in first aid just to have a better chance at getting on the team because I was afraid that I wasn’t attractive enough to be selected as a ring girl.I took all my ID’s and my next destination was the King’s Carlton stadium which was not too much of a journey from where I lived.“Are you Alison Quinn?” One of the organizers of the boxing event asked.“Yes sir!” I responded.“Good! You can be the ring girl for the first match, go to the dressing room and get some makeup done.” He instructed.“Okay sir.” I replied, followed a group of girls into a dressing room. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Vandyke but there was no sign of him. So I waited patiently for my turn to get my makeup done.I looked at myself in the mirror and gasped, I always thought I wasn
Alison’s POVHis question left me hanging, I didn’t know what to say in response because yes, he was the target but how do you let your prey know that you are planning to attack them? Weren’t you setting yourself up for failure?I smiled, “You’re right, Mr. Vandyke. You are my target.” I paused and folded my arms. “But not for the reason you think.” I mustered courage and walked closer to him. " Your son embarrassed my mother and me, and when I came to the office, it was to embarrass him too at his workplace, but then I found out he was the son of the CEO. It would be better if I embarrassed you instead. I don’t like Cory. I could never.”I lied with so much confidence that I’m sure he believed me this time.“Embarrass me?”“Yes sir, you clearly didn’t raise your son right! He got dumped by a woman and he decided to embarrass her and her daughter at her workplace!” Roberta added more spice to the story. Well, maybe too much spice because the man’s face changed and I could swear his ey
Alison’s POV “To meet Vandyke again, I think you should go to his office with your application letter, tell him you considered his job offer,” Roberta suggested excitedly as if it were that easy. “Don’t forget that I don’t want to see Cory every day, the workplace is a no-go area for me. And besides you should see him at work, he’s 10 times scarier than he was at the club.” I argued. “Then how are we going to meet him? He banned us from coming to his country at night.” Roberta queried me. Roberta and I weren’t close way back in the university, we both dropped out in the second year and we still weren’t close. We both met each other at the same workplace and that’s how our friendship picked up but she has never been to my apartment nor have I been to hers. But look at us bonding over some man we want to trap. “Can’t you forget about Cory and just go to his workplace?…” “Even if I do, I might not get to see him. You know he’s a very busy man, I heard that he barely even goes to th
Ralph’s POV I didn’t know where Charlotte’s shop was, so I had to call one of Cory’s bodyguards. While I waited for a response, Anne linked me again. “Ralph! Where are you? Can you come over? Melody wants to give you another chance.” I chuckled. That lady didn’t make it to my bed, so I expected her to count herself lucky and leave me alone. It looks like she wants to join my long list of one-night stands. Before you say that I’m a bad guy you should understand me. I own a successful company, and I’m a successful politician too. All of this with no wife so I’m the target of most women. Everyone wants to try their luck with me but unfortunately, nobody seems to be a perfect fit, it’s like I am cursed. “Not now Anne, I’m in the middle of something.” I linked back. “Saturdays are your resting days, don’t lie to me. Should I bring her over?” She linked again. Damn it Anne never knew when to stop. It’s like my singleness bothered her more than it bothered me. “Leave me alone before
