Ralph’s POV
I’m a little relieved that Alison seems to be doing better and handling this whole thing better than Kate. Kate was sick the whole time and just when we thought she would get better, she died. Alison is okay, she even has the energy to be arguing with me and pissing me off. However, the possibility of her having more than one pup bothered me very much. I walked around with my heart in my stomach. I got back to Moonlight long before dark and started to pack up my stuff, Cory burst into my room and watched with a frown as I packed up.“Where are you going?”I looked up at him still racking my brains on the best lie to come up with.“Cory, I got attacked again, earlier this afternoon. I think that I need some privacy to figure out what is happening to me and who is behind this.”“What about Simon? What is he doing about all of this? What is taking him that long?” as he rhetorically questioned me, I stared at him and for the first time, I dThird Person POVAt the pack house, Melody rushed into Cory’s arms and wept as he comforted her. After she had whimpered and purred and wept for a while Cory helped her sit on the couch and sat in the seat adjacent to her in the parlor. He had lost count of the number of times he had comforted she-wolves because his father had broken up with them. It was like a monthly routine. For some weird reason he thought Melody would last but she ended up being dumped even before Alpha Ralph’s usual three-month probationary period.“What happened, what was his reason for leaving? Did you fight?” Cory interrogated her,Melody sat there with her shoulder slumped forward and her back bent, her eyes glued to the floor as if she were looking for something.“I had a confrontation with Alison at work. She has been absent for a while without proper explanation, making her friend cover her shift for her. At first I assumed she was sick but the last time I saw her, sh
Ralph’s POV“Before you think that Anne is behind the attacks look at this,” Mike said and swiped the screen to the next photo, where there was a picture of Melody and Lila on a yacht. Lila was the mate I rejected back on Belle Island, the rejection that led to my banishment. It looks like they were friends, which made it odd that Melody would date the wolf that rejected her own friend.I swiped next, and a man was standing next to Melody with his arms around her in this picture,“That’s Alpha Lucian, the one who is currently mated to Lila,” Mike informed me,If he’s mated with Lila, why were his arms around Melody? Did they date? What the hell is going on here?”“So what you are telling me, is that Lila stole her friend’s man and now they are married?” I asked Mike who nodded slowly, “Yes, Alpha,” he replied.Again, Melody came into my life for revenge, just like Alison did. It doesn’t matter what I do; these two ladies use me to achieve what they want.“Well, what has that got to

Alison’s POV“So I’m your prey,” I remarked. He sighed deeply and pointed at me as if to say something but then sighed and grabbed my arm.“You are stubborn. But I can handle people like you, Cory was worse than you are right now but I handled him.” We both went silent at the mention of Cory’s name, it looks like he won’t ever forgive me for not telling him about my history with Cory. It hurts.“Let’s go downstairs and talk,” he said and opened the door for me. As we descended the stairs he closely followed me, maybe to make sure that I wouldn’t be in any form of danger. In the living room, he watched me sit in an armchair before he settled on the couch. He stared at my face as if he were observing me, which made me blush. Why was he staring at me like that?“What?” I exclaimed.“Once again. You are not a hostage… I’m going to explain to you why you are being kept here. First, it’s about your safety. When my first wife died, I was summoned by the council of Alphas within my county an
Alison’s POVRalph placed his hand on my shoulder,“She will just be checking for the fetus and your overall health, if you change your mind about anything, she’s here to assist you,” Ralph explained gently which made me relax, he was not forcing me or eager to make me get rid of anything. That was a relief.“Let’s go to the room upstairs,” he said, and we all followed his lead.We entered a room which was designed like a private ward. It had a sonogram, a speculum, a bed, and all that you usually find in the OBGYN’s ward.Doctor Mac led me to lie down comfortably on the bed. She began the examination process as Ralph watched eagerly. After a few minutes of examination, she scrunched up her face and stared at me.“Do you plan on having children in the future?” Her question got me confused, “yes… Yes, I do.”“I am asking because there’s a problem,” Ralph walked up to where I was lying and stared at the doctor, “I understand th
Alison’s POVI arrived at the location Ralph had directed me to, and I was impressed. It was a relaxing environment with lots of flowers and beautiful trees. I was led down the narrow pavement path to a luxurious house. Again, I was impressed with what I saw, but I kept wondering why I had been brought here. Is this the place where he finally kills me? I wondered.“Miss Quinn, please have a seat.” A uniformed assistant led me to an armchair in the living room. Sitting in it felt like I was in a treatment room. It was so relaxing, unlike the couch in my apartment. I looked outside through the glass at the beautiful green grass which was slowly getting covered in snow.“How long do I have to wait for him?” I asked the assistant who led me in.“The Alpha will be here soon. He got caught up in something but he will be with you in about an hour.”An hour? Does he think that I have all the time in the world? I got up, “Then I will leave.” I muttered.“You can’t.” the assistant replied rathe
