Ralph’s POV
As I drove back home I thought of the audacity of those girls to enter this county at this time. Moonlight County has a lot of groves and even a forest reserve and it’s because almost everyone that lives here is a wolf, we built this place to suit our needs and lifestyle as wolves. It’s not that werewolves are a dangerous species but we’re a rogue pack, some of us can shift just to attack humans and won’t be arrested because you can’t arrest an animal when they attack you. That’s one advantage werewolves have against humans. I pondered over their reason for coming and that was even more silly, “came to look for rich men?” I giggled, the revenge made more sense but I found that reason questionable. It was her mother’s heart that got broken why was she so worked up over it? All of this didn’t make sense. So I decided to get some rest and go see Cory in the morning. I had barely hit my pillow when Anne linked me, “I heard you left your date all alone and went chasing some little girls, and they were humans too.” I gasped, Melody! I was supposed to be on a date! She could have been in my bed by now. My goodness, I was going to bed alone and I didn’t even notice it. “What do you have to say for yourself?” Anne linked again. “Tell her I’m sorry, those human girls were in the wrong place at that time of the night, I didn’t want them to know that we’re shifters so I sent them home very quickly.” I linked back. “Where do you know them from?” She linked again. “Nowhere.” I groggily replied. “Careful Ralph, remember what happened to the last human you were with.” She subtly warned me but how could I forget? It was always on my mind. That’s the reason I stayed away from humans, and I make sure my rogue pack also does the same. It’s always on my mind and now that she mentioned it she made me upset. “Good night Anne,” I said and blocked her out of my mind. Early the next day I went to Cory’s place to find him in the kitchen fixing his sink. “Dad! It’s good you’re here! Can you help me do some heavy lifting? I bought some new furniture.” “You don’t need to ask,” I replied. Wolves are ten times stronger so he loves to ask me for help and I love to help. As I lifted the couch from the backyard into the house, I casually asked, “So how are things between you and Charlotte?” His face turned gloomy all of a sudden, “we broke up.” He mumbled. “You left her?” “Why is everyone assuming that I left? She dumped me. She says it’s wrong and blah blah blah. I really loved this woman.” He replied. “She left? Are you sure about that?” I said, placing the couch about 5 feet away from the TV. “Even my own dad doesn’t believe me, wow! You know I really liked Charlotte.” He told me. But that didn’t make sense, if Charlotte was the one who called it quits why was her daughter upset? I always knew that girl was lying. “But why did she say it’s wrong? Is it because her daughter is the same age as you?” I asked. Cory stared at me as if I had said the most absurd thing ever. “How did you know she had a daughter?” He asked. “Because… I gave her 100 bucks last Monday.” “And she told you she was Charlotte’s daughter?” Cory asked again, I could see the discomfort. I could see the beads of sweat forming on his eyebrows. Something truly went on between this trio and it was more than anyone was willing to say. “What did Alison tell you?” Cory asked. “She says that you broke her mother’s heart.” Cory was surprised so much he raised his eyebrows, “She’s the reason that happened in the first place!” He blurted out angrily. “What?” This was getting interesting. “Did you cheat on mother, with daughter?” “No! You know, Alison became my friend because I buy from her mother’s shop. She’s usually there on weekends. She thought I was attracted to her but it was her mother I wanted. When she found out I was with her mother she couldn’t accept it. It’s her fault this happened!” He bitterly replied. “Oh! So both mother and daughter were fighting over my son?” “They didn’t fight, but Alison was exhibiting signs of jealousy and unhealthy competition between her and her mother. Her mother sensed it and broke up with me. She didn’t want to fight with her daughter.” Cory explained. “So you and Alison didn’t like each other at one point?” I asked again for clarity. “No! She’s not my type of girl at all, I never liked her and will never like her.” He said it with so much disgust that I felt bad for Alison, she seems like a nice girl, she’s beautiful too. Why does Cory disdain her that much? No wonder she looked so broken about the breakup. She must think that it’s her fault. And maybe that’s why she was trying to find her own man so she wouldn’t poke her nose in her mother’s love life. “Do you want Charlotte back?” “Yes, but she seems to have moved on.” “I can talk to her.” “What? No! No! Please stay out of this Dad and Alison, never allow her anywhere near you. She’s a liar and a vindictive woman, stay away from her.” He sternly cautioned me. “You’re sure you never hit on her at any point?” “No, I never have and never will.” I didn’t trust Cory, he must have done something to both mother and daughter but both he and Alison were lying about what happened so it left me with one person to ask - Charlotte herself.Alison’s POVRalph and I sat at the breakfast table still upset at each other. We had our meal in silence till he decided to break it.“I’m sorry for yelling at you,” He may have been expecting feedback but I had none for him, I’m not ready to forgive him yet.“If you want to talk to your friend, why don’t you just do it on the phone?” He continued, yet I still ignored him. I could feel how much he hated the silent treatment and it gave me joy, call me a narcissist but it feels good.“Okay fine, I will bring her here to see you.” He said.I stared at him with raised eyebrows, seriously? I thought he didn’t want anyone to know this place, was he going to break his own rules for me?“Will you?”He nodded, “I don’t want you to ever think of sneaking out of there, so if you want to see your friend then I will bring her here.” “Oh, so you don’t mind risking our location anymore?”“Precautionary measures will be
Alison’s POVAs I opened my eyes that morning I moaned in pain. This pregnancy thing was beating me up. It was rapidly washing away my strength and sucking the joy out of my mornings. The old me would have jerked out of bed and dashed into the shower to have my joy bath. Now I’m so sore that I can barely get up. Sometimes I cry a little I don’t know how I became so emotional,“Is everything alright?” Came Vandyke’s deep but tender voice. I slowly craned my neck in his direction to catch a glimpse of him. He moved from the doorway towards my bed as I watched him with a faint smile on my face. He bent over me and touched my forehead with the back of his hands.“You don’t look okay, should I call Dr. Mac?”“I’m fine,” I replied. He stared at me for a long while before trying to help me get out of bed,“No Ralph, I’m weak,”“So do you want me to bathe you?” He asked and I only shook my head,“No, I don’t feel like bathing.”“Okay, that’s fine. Then I will clean you up so we can have break
Third Person POV“Isaac, you and I don’t have any children. How many times do I have to tell you that?” Charlotte yelled as Isaac’s bodyguards surrounded the doorway preventing anyone from going inside.“You gave her my mother’s name because you know my mother lives in this county and when I’m going through the records I wouldn’t bother searching for anyone with my mother’s name. But that was a dumb mistake!” He exclaimed.“If it was dumped, why didn’t you find us after all these years?” Charlotte fired back.“Because I wasn’t searching for you, I thought you aborted the baby just like you were supposed to.”Cory couldn’t contain himself upon hearing that; he punched Isaac in the face, breaking his nose and causing him to bleed. His guards pointed their guns at Cory and one of them fired a warning shot. This drew the attention of Cory’s guards who always monitor him from afar, they forced their way into the supermarket as customers ran helter-
Third-person POVCory kept processing his conversation with Melody. It was hard to accept that Alison was pregnant and had the support of his father. The Ralph Vandyke he knew would never allow this to happen. His biggest fear was causing the death of another human being. Also, it would mess with his political career. Ralph doesn’t play with his job.He drove past Alison’s apartment, and observed from afar, as the lights in her room revealed a glimpse of the happenings in the room. He could see a silhouette of her, moving to and fro in the apartment. She was moving too energetically for someone suspected to be carrying a wolf’s pup. From what he had been told, humans had a hard time carrying pups, sometimes they die from complications like his mother did or they miscarry the pups like some women in Moonlight had. The lights in Alison’s room went off, this was Cory’s cue to start moving. He ignited the engine and drove slowly, at first, he didn’t know where to go but later he gave in
Third Person POVMelody buried her head on her desk, it felt like the world was about to collapse on her head. She had been betrayed by her best friend Lila; The Alpha king’s daughter. She had been by her side when she was rejected by Ralph many years ago. She stood by her through the pain, discharging her best friend duties.Yet she got stabbed in the back by Lila and her mate, Lucian. She left Belle Island in an attempt to move far away from those who had betrayed her and as fate would have it, Anne introduced her to Ralph; The one who had rejected her best friend. She had hoped that things would work out but no, this one was also falling apart, she had done all she could but Alison had appeared out of nowhere and snatched Ralph out of her hands and she couldn’t forgive herself for underestimating her. There was a gentle tap on her door, and Ben popped his head inside a few seconds later, Melody raised her head and arched her eyebrows.“Mr. Vand
Alison POVWhen Ralph said I was having twins I got genuinely scared, I heard his late wife died from carrying only one pup and now I’m carrying two. That was terrifying but I will be fine. I am stronger than I give myself credit for. “Are you going to let Melody off the hook that easily after how she spied on us?” I asked him again. He blankly stared at me for a few seconds and bared his fangs at me. This was the first time I was seeing his fangs, he never shows them in human form, maybe he just wants to tease me knowing how scared I get of his kind. “Let’s not think about Melody tonight, let’s just celebrate our little victory.” He replied. It’s been a while since I saw Ralph this excited. He must be relieved after my little display, he even placed his head on my abdomen for the first time since I got pregnant. Does it mean that he has forgiven me? Are we on our journey to forgiveness and acceptance?“So, why are we celebrating?” I asked. He looked like he was lost in his thoughts
