Mira’s POV

Beta Dahlia’s words cut through me like a knife. I was thankful to the head maid for pulling me away when she did.

“Hurry up, girl, I don't have all day,” the head maid called, snapping me from my spiraling thoughts. I hadn't realized how far ahead she’d gone. I quickened my steps, clutching the stack of bedsheets tighter against my chest.

We arrived at the Alpha family’s residence…towering above the rest of Pine Shadows like a watchful sentinel. It was sleek and modern, yet edged with old pack symbols carved into the stone arches. This was the first time I had ever been allowed near the Alpha’s private chambers, and I couldn't help but stare as we made our way up the wide staircase, heart thudding.

At the top of the stairs, a young Omega ran up breathless, whispering urgently. The head maid turned, frowning.

“I'm needed below,” she muttered, her eyes flicking to me. “Take the corridor to the right. Last door at the end. That's the Alpha’s quarters.” She paused, gaze sharp. “Do well if you want to last here. You know you're on your own now.”

Her words left a cold trail down my spine.

I should have waitEd until i finished my duties. But grief clung to me like a second skin, heavy and breathless. I missed my mother so much it hurt to stand. How did it come to this? Abandoned, alone, pretending to be invisible?

I had never felt this lonely in my whole life.

I bit my lip, holding back the sting behind my eyes as I approached Liam’s door. For a moment, I leaned my forehead against the cool wood, trying to catch my breath, wishing for just a second of escape from this suffocating reality.

And then I felt it.

Strong arms wrapped around me from behind. Tight, warm, stealing the breath from my lungs. I gasped, choked softly, but didn't fight it. I knew that scent. Liam

Heat stirred low in my belly. The sheets slipped from my hands, scattering around my feet. We both bent at the same time, and we collided.

For a heartbeat, I froze, caught in the pull of his gaze.

His eyes… those deep, flickering brown eyes locked on mine, raw with confusion and something else I couldn't name. My heart pounded so loud I was sure he could hear it.

“Shit.” I heard him mutter under his breath.

I shifted instinctively, brushing against him as I reached down for the fallen sheets… and that's when I felt it. His arousal, hard and throbbing, pressed against me

My breath caught; I didn't know where to look or what to do. My lips just parted in pure shock.

Then, without warning, his lips claimed mine. A desperate, hungry kiss that sent me stumbling back until my shoulders hit the door, creaking it open.

His left hand slid around my waist, firm, possessive, like he already knew I belonged to him. The door shut behind us with a soft thud, the sheets falling from my arms once again, forgotten.

He kissed me like he was starving for it.

Maybe I was too. Maybe that's why I didn't stop him.

His mouth on mine, his scent, his strength, it was all too much. Too intoxicating. I could feel my nipples growing beneath my dress, pressing shamelessly against his chest, but I didn't care. I wanted more.

He slipped the straps of my pinafore from my shoulders, slow and tentative, until they hung at my waist. My breath hitched. I should have been embarrassed, I should have been terrified, but all I felt was heat.

When his hand slid under my dress, fingers grazing my thighs, searching, whimpered softly. And when they brushed over the thin fabric of my panties, a moan slipped from me before I could stop it.

“You shouldn't want this, Mira. Not now. Not while you’re still mourning.” The thought flickered through my mind, a thin thread of guilt weaving through the burning ache inside me… but it did nothing to stop the desire rising inside me

But then, he paused and looked at me, sensing my distraction and seeing the tears lingering in my eyes.

His forehead rested gently against mine, his chest rising and falling with uneven breaths.

“Why were you crying?” he murmured, voice rough, barely a whisper.

I squeezed my eyes shut. The question pierced something raw inside me. My chest tightened, but no words came. How could I explain the grief, the loneliness, the longing—the way I’d stood outside his door wishing for an escape from my own life?

I tried to speak, but all I managed was a shaky exhale.

His fingers brushed my cheek, soft, almost reverent. His eyes searched mine, gentler now.

“Do you want this?” he whispered, voice low, unsure, like he was trying to rein himself in.

My heart thudded so hard it hurt. I was still burning from everywhere he’d touched. I didn't trust my voice, but I managed a small, trembling nod.

That was all it took.

In one swift motion, he lifted me, carried me to his bed. As he laid me down, the top button of my shirt popped open, heat rushing to my cheeks. But the way he looked at me…like I was something he couldn't believe he was touching, made me shiver.

He climbed over me, unbuttoning the rest of my shirt, his gaze dark and intense. His mouth closed over one breast, his hand cupping the other, sending shudders through me that left me gasping.

“Yesss, Alpha…” The words slipped out in a whisper, surprising even myself.

His growl rumbled through his chest, a sound so primal it made my core clench, made me ache for more.

He kissed his way up to my ear, grazing it softly with his teeth, making my whole body shiver.

When his tongue tangled with mine again, the kiss turned heated, possessive, claiming. I gave in, wrapping my arms around him, wanting to remember this… every touch, every gasp, every tremble.

He shifted, sliding one leg between mine, pressing against the soaked heat between my thighs. I gasped, eyes fluttering open. His fingers found the waistband of my panties, tugging, desperate, and my breath hitched again.

My legs parted for him willingly, aching to be touched. And then…

A knock.

My heart jumped.

We both froze, breathless.

Panic flashed in his eyes as he quickly pulled up his shorts, while I scrambled to button my shirt with shaking fingers, heart hammering in my chest.

The door creaked open.

I grabbed the old sheets, fumbling to make the bed, pretending nothing had happened. My heart was pounding so loud I could barely hear anything else.

Beta Dahlia’s voice slid through the room like blade

“Quiet the mess in here for a simple sheet change.”

I kept my head low, focusing on the sheets, hands trembling.

Liam sat across the room, pretending to be absorbed in work files spread across his desk.

“Leave us, servant girl,” Dahlia’s sharp voice cut through the room, and I flinched.

I didn't need telling twice.

Clutching the sheets tightly, I fled the room, nearly stumbling as I hurried down the stairs.

I didn't look back.

Not until I reached the servant quarters, where I collapsed onto my bed, heart racing, breath shaky, hands still trembling with the ghost of his touch.

Only then was I able to release my breath, which I didn't even realize I’d been holding.

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   A Dangerous Proposal 87

Mira’s POVCael gave me one last mischievous glance. That was my cue… the silent signal between two siblings who had perfected the art of nonverbal conversations between them. I inhaled slowly, forcing my nerves to be steady…This was it.I gave him a small nod, encouraging him to begin. He straightened in his chair, brushing crumbs from his shirt before turning to face Father. “Alright, fine. Since you’re demanding the truth, Father… we do have something to say.”Father looked around, and the servants got the message immediately. He didn't need anyone listening to whatever it was his children wanted to tell him. They didn't need to be told with words… not when the message in the Alpha's eyes was loud and clear. Within minutes, they had all hurried away, leaving just the four of us in the silence.Satisfied with the privacy we now had, father turned to Cael again. “Speak then,” he ordered.Cael shot me a look that clearly said, here we go, before turning to Father.“We’ve been discussi

Mira’s POVMorning came far too quickly for my liking. I had barely slept as my brain was filled with tangled thoughts about Pine Shadows, poisoned letters, and the intense conversation I had with Cael. By the time sunlight found its way through the curtains and into my room, I felt both heavy with exhaustion and too restless to stay in bed.The smell of food from the dining hall was what eventually pulled me up however… roasted meat and warm bread, with delicious soups and tasty desserts. Father was already seated in his usual seat, with his friend, Caleb on his right, looking surprisingly refreshed for someone who had ridden so far and so late into the night. His presence brought with it a rare and comfortable warmth that was clearly doing father a lot of good, and I could now fully understand what Cael was talking about… Their bond indeed, carried the kind of ease that made the whole room brighter.Cael was already seated opposite me, wolfing down his food like a starving prisoner

Alpha Rowland’s POVI looked at Caleb, studying his face in the dim light to make sure it wasn't the tiredness speaking. “Are you saying that you've thought about it too? That you've also considered them?”Caleb grinned sheepishly. “How could I have thought about them so quickly when you've only just told me everything this evening. But let me tell you why I think your daughter might be on to something.”“I'm all ears,” I said, giving him my complete attention.Caleb scratched his head slowly, as if arranging whatever he wanted to say carefully in his head to avoid mixing it up. “During my trip, I heard something that seems to be loosely related to what Mira has suggested. At first, I dismissed it as nothing but idle gossip, meaningless words from merchants who had drunk too much wine. But hearing you now… It’s hard to ignore.”Caleb had my complete attention, and I urged him on. “Go on, tell me everything.”“The whispers are that Pine Shadows has been producing and selling a lot of m

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   Thinking 84

Alpha Rowland’s POVCuriosity danced in Caleb's eyes as he listened with rapt attention, looking as if he was getting ready to pry the words out of me if I delayed any longer. I exhaled calmly, preparing myself for the part of the story that still troubled me each time I thought about it.“We had planned to interrogate the rogues after the birthday,” I began. “I had sent for Mira and Cael to prepare them for it, and our plan was to do anything necessary to learn how they had come into possession of the Thallium, and most importantly… who was supplying them.”Caleb nodded thoughtfully, with his eyes alive with intensity. “Exactly what I would have done, Rowland. You had them in your grasp. So what went wrong?”I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head at the question. “When I gave the order for them to be brought in, the guard who fetched them came back looking as if he had seen a ghost, trembling, and totally unable to speak a word. He could only signal for us to follow him.”“Rowla

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   A listening ear 83

Alpha Rowland's POVThe fire in the hearth had burned very low now, and Caleb sat across from me like a stone statue, patiently waiting for me to unleash my burden as always. He was never one to force words from me, but his silence seemed heavier than questions.I cleared my throat and adjusted myself to a comfortable position. “Okay, Caleb. Let me tell you exactly what has been happening in this pack.”“I’m listening,” He said calmly.I nodded, then began. “It started with Cael going on a hunting trip weeks ago, and he took Mira along with him.”Caleb gave a knowing smile. “Of course he did.”Despite myself, I almost smiled too. “Yes, of course he did. That boy has never listened to me a day in his life.” My voice hardened. “But what they ran into wasn’t just prey… It was a group of rogues.”Caleb straightened in his chair. “Rogues? How come?”“It was surprising,” I replied quietly. He swore under his breath, shaking his head. “That close to our borders?”I nodded grimly. “Too close

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   Plotting Siblings 82

Cael's POVI should’ve known from the way her shoulders tightened that this wasn’t going to be something light. Mira had that look… the one where her mind was made up before she had even opened her mouth, and nothing short of a war would change it.She looked into my eyes, and I saw hers as clear as moonlight, steady and firm even though her pulse was thrumming faintly in her throat.“Cael,” she finally began. “I think it’s really important… for us to go to Pine Shadows.”There it was. The words landed like a pebble that had been dropped into deep water, sending ripples spreading through my chest. Pine Shadows… The name was seldom mentioned in our pack, but she spoke about it like it was salvation.“Are you being serious?” I asked carefully. She was firm in her reply. “Dead serious.”I laughed at the thought, a funny sort of sound that startled even me. “You want us to just stroll into the den of the wolves who have hated us for decades, even banished you under a false accusation, an
