I'll Tell Him

The smell of freshly ground coffee curved my lips into a smile. I crawled out of bed and heard the sizzling and boiling sounds coming from the kitchen. I took a few steps and inhaled through my nose.

“Pancakes,” I muttered, releasing a soft chuckle. I loved that morning already.

My half-sleepy eyes were barely helping me find my way downstairs and through the corridor. I followed the smells and quickly stepped into the bright kitchen. As soon as I passed the threshold, Liam ran toward me. A wide smile on his face told me that he enjoyed that morning as much as I did.

“Mommy, look what we have for breakfast!” he exclaimed, taking my hand and leading me to the big, round table in the dining room.

I slowly took in the pile of pancakes, fresh little buns, an omelet, and a vegetable salad. My eyes widened. “Who's going to eat all that stuff?” I laughed, staring at the amount of food in disbelief.

“Daddy said that he'll eat it if you don't want to,” Liam announced and ran back to
