Jeanette's threat played in my mind on repeat until the blood in my veins turned into acid. Perhaps I should have been frightened that she would act even before I could get close to her fiancé again, but what I felt was a lot of anger, heavily coated with frustration. I knew that Alex was supposed to marry her. I was more than aware that he had already been taken, no matter how many times he proved to be unaffected by his relationship.
