Chapter 159

Warren was too weak to pull himself to his feet again. When he was done slaying Adam, he somehow regained his senses, but he was also out of stamina. It felt as if a train had driven over his body. He had vague memories about what happened, like Adam killing Elaine, but after that, everything was a blur. It was almost as if he was in a trance. 

Warren looked at his hands. It was there, but he couldn't feel anything. Warren's whole body was numb. He had to overexert himself to get to Elaine's body. Warren knew that no matter how hard he tried, there was no bringing her back. For someone who just got a decisive victory over a great foe, Warren wasn't really in a celebratory mood. He laid his head on her body and lost consciousness.
