Chapter 1

At twenty-nine, the mate bond I'd spent seven years building with Ethan Moonshadow finally became a joke.

We fought our way from the house to the edge of pack territory and ended up facing each other by the cliffs. My wolf thrashed inside me, desperate to tear apart the man standing in front of me.

"Ethan!" I jabbed my finger at his chest. "Do you even deserve to be Alpha? I was seventeen when I let you mark me. I helped you build this pack from nothing when you were just a rogue, and now what? You turn around and chase after some Omega who just had her presentation? Does your wolf even recognize me as your Luna anymore?"

His eyes flashed gold. I knew that look. It meant his wolf was surfacing. I used to love those eyes when they lit up for me. Now they were cold as ice.

"Elowen Silvertail, stop the act." His voice dropped to a low, dangerous tone. "You're the one who wanted to run away back then. You were seventeen and crawling into my bed, begging me to mark you. And now you want to play the victim?"

Something sharp tore through my chest.

"What did you just say?" My voice shook, but not from fear. From pure rage. "I begged you? Ethan, you were the one who said forever. You said I was your only mate."

"That was before." He looked away. "People change, Elowen. I'm an Alpha now. I have a whole pack to run. I'm not that rogue who only had you anymore."

I laughed. The sound came out bitter and broken, and tears burned my eyes.

"So now that you've made it, you want to break the mate bond? You want a more obedient Luna instead?"

"Yes." He turned back to face me, and his eyes were ice. "I'm breaking the bond."

My wolf screamed inside me, and I lunged at him. We collided hard, clawing and snarling at each other. But the cliff edge was slick from rain, and our feet slipped. We both went over.

Pain exploded through my body. And then there was nothing.

When I woke up, the stench of dried sweat hit me hard and made me wrinkle my nose.

I opened my eyes and saw sunlight streaming through a broken window. I was in some rundown shack deep in the forest, surrounded by rusted traps hanging on the walls and animal pelts that had seen better days. The narrow bed underneath me had a moldy blanket full of holes.

I froze and lifted my hand to touch my face.

My skin was smooth and soft, and even my scent was that light, milky sweetness of someone who hadn't presented yet.

I was seventeen again, back before my presentation.

Back then, I thought this place was heaven, our little love nest. Ethan and I against the world.

Now I could see it for what it really was. A glorified dump.

I had no idea what possessed me back then to leave my family's Alpha estate in Silver Moon Pack to rough it in the woods with a rogue.

My family was a solid Beta bloodline in Silver Moon Pack, and my parents treated me like their little princess. They had my whole life perfectly mapped out. Present as something decent, marry the Alpha heir, and become a respectable Luna.

Someone like me and someone like Ethan, a rogue with nothing to his name, we should never have crossed paths.

But then came that day in the snow.

I was doing border patrol training and passed by an abandoned factory. That's when I saw Ethan getting jumped by a bunch of guys from Crimson Claw Pack.

After they finally left, I found him lying in the snow wearing nothing but a torn hoodie. Blood pooled underneath him, and his eyes were half open with his wolf flashing gold in his pupils. He was seconds away from losing control and shifting right there.

I was so stupid back then, too soft-hearted for my own good. I should have run, but my feet wouldn't listen.

Like an idiot, I called the pack medical team and draped my own coat over him.

"Hey, are you okay?"

The boy forced his eyes open, and they were wild and dangerous. "You're not scared of a rogue?"

My voice shook when I answered. "Fighting is bad. You shouldn't mess with Crimson Claw anymore."

He let out a harsh laugh and closed his eyes, playing dead.

I crouched there like an idiot, blocking the wind and snow for him until the medical team arrived. I even slipped some cash to cover his hospital bills when no one was looking.

I thought that was the end of it.

But a few days later, Ethan showed up at the edge of the training grounds like he owned the place.

Using my memories from my past life, I dodged every pack that was about to collapse and invested in every rising Alpha with perfect timing. Two years after my rebirth, Silver Moon Pack became the wealthiest pack in the region, and I expanded the pack house for my parents.Four years in, I'd built a cross-pack investment network spanning the entire West Coast.News about Ethan trickled back to me now and then.He and Sophia had scraped together some pathetic excuse for a pack, but they were barely surviving. Sophia burned through their resources like they meant nothing, and Ethan couldn't hold territory to save his life. The wolves under them fought constantly, tearing the pack apart from the inside. Then Ethan got hooked on wolfsbane and racked up massive debts with half a dozen packs. Wolves were hunting him day and night.Sophia grabbed whatever supplies were left and ran off with a stronger rogue.Desperate and cornered, Ethan led his remaining wolves in a raid on another pack's ter

At the celebration dinner, Kaden got drunk and grabbed my hand. "Elowen, I know I was hard on you before, but I just didn't want you going down the wrong path. Now you can find yourself a good Alpha and settle down.""I'm not looking for anyone." I poured him another drink. "I'm going to make money and take care of you both.""Silly girl, everyone finds their mate eventually."The whole evening was perfect, everyone laughing and talking, the pack celebrating together. When we were leaving, someone called out to me. "Elowen!"Ethan walked over in a full suit. I hadn't seen him in months, and he looked darker, bulkier, with that same cocky edge but worse. Sophie trailed behind him in a wedding dress and heavy makeup, strutting like a peacock showing off its feathers."Well, well, celebrating?" Ethan stopped right in front of us. "Mr. Silvertail, no need to look so pissed. I'm having my wedding reception in the hall next door, so why don't you all come have a drink before you go? I'm Elow

After my shower, I collapsed onto the soft bed and nearly groaned out loud with relief. This was living. All that true mate destiny bullshit was a lie. The absolute truth was that a rogue without a pack would only drag you down.Fate had given me a second chance, and I wasn't going to waste it by living like a joke again. In my past life, I'd taught myself finance, management, and territory negotiations just to help that rogue build his pack. Ethan's pathetic pack only grew because of me, and at least half of his success was my doing. Now I was back with twenty-nine years of experience and a head full of pack management knowledge, and if I couldn't make something of myself this time, I deserved to fail. The next day, the moment I stepped outside, every single person stared at me. Running off with some outsider rogue apparently made explosive gossip.Whispers came from every direction. "Elowen's back." "I heard she was going to complete the mate bond with Ethan, so why'd she come back s

  • From Rogue's Luna to Alpha's Queen   Chapter 5

On the drive home with Lyra, everything felt surreal, as if I were living someone else's memories. I leaned back against the seat and watched the streets blur past the window, and tears started sliding down my cheeks before I could stop them. In my past life, after I ran away with Ethan, we couldn't afford decent transportation. We had to shift and run everywhere on four legs, living like rogues with no pack and no home.Lyra was driving, but I could see her wiping her own tears, and she still managed to scold me between sniffles. "Now you're crying? Where was this when you decided to skip Alpha training and run off with some rogue? Do you have any idea how much shame you brought on me and your father?"Her familiar nagging made my chest feel warm despite everything."Mom, I'm sorry," I said quietly.Lyra froze and then slammed on the brakes so hard the car jerked to a stop on the side of the road. She twisted around and pulled me into her arms, sobbing so hard her whole body shook. "Y

Ethan's face twisted like I'd punched him in the gut. He thought I'd beg and cry for the mate bond just like in my past life, that I'd throw myself at him and even die for him if he asked. In his mind, I was still that lovesick fool he could control however he wanted."Honey, what did you just say?"Ethan shot up from the bed, and the cheap frame let out a harsh screech."You think you're playing hard to get? You were just crying on that cliff about how I'm the only Alpha you'll ever want, and now that your mom's here you're backing out? You think because we got a second chance you can just dump me and find some other Alpha?"He jabbed his finger at my face, and spit flew from his mouth as he yelled.Lyra flinched at his aggressive display and instinctively stepped in front of me. "Hey! Back off and keep your hands to yourself!"I stared at Ethan with ice in my veins. This was the man I'd loved for two lifetimes. How was I so blind in my past life? I actually thought this thug behavior

  • From Rogue's Luna to Alpha's Queen   Chapter 3

Standing in this rundown shack that used to be full of sweet memories, the air felt so thick with awkwardness that even my wolf was growling low in my chest."Back there at the cliff," Ethan cleared his throat, and his voice came out rough. "I was pissed off and running my mouth. Don't take it to heart."I stared at him and suddenly felt like this was all absurd.Years ago in this very place, he'd held me and said, "My Luna, I'm sorry you had to suffer. I promise I'll give you the best territory when I become Alpha."Back then, I believed he meant it.Just like when he humiliated me at the cliff's edge, I believed he meant that, too.The love was real, and so was the hate.Time had a way of grinding fated mates down into enemies. We sat on opposite ends of that broken bed, and neither of us said a word."Aria, since we're both back now..." Ethan started, but urgent pounding on the door cut him off.I got up to answer it.The moment I opened the door, I froze. My mother stood there—Lyra
