Chapter 2

Author: Alisha
Ethan tossed a leather pouch onto the table in front of me. Moonstone fragments spilled out, and I recognized them immediately as the currency wolves used for trades. That dangerously handsome face wore an easy smile. "Your stuff from that day. Thanks for the help, good girl."

The second he left, I became Silver Moon Pack's hottest gossip topic.

My friend grabbed my arm and practically screamed at me. "Elowen, are you insane? That guy's a rogue! I heard he fights in underground rings at the black market. His claws have drawn blood, and you need to stay far away from him!"

Some nosy Omega sidled up to me with stars in her eyes. "Wait, you actually know Ethan? Could you get me his number? God, when he shifts, he's absolutely gorgeous!"

I stood there completely stunned.

After school, a massive black wolf blocked my path and let out a low growl. Ethan shifted back right in front of me, shirtless and shameless, and whistled. "Come run the border with me."

A group of rogues behind him started catcalling and laughing.

"Boss, she looks too innocent. Where's the fun in that?"

"Yeah, that Omega from Crimson Claw was way hotter. That body, that scent!"

My face went white. I bolted like a startled rabbit with my head down.

Their wild laughter followed me all the way home.

Back then, I genuinely hated him. He was a wild wolf, and we lived in entirely different worlds.

But Ethan had the thickest skin I'd ever seen. He showed up every single day and wouldn't take no for an answer.

Everything changed the day I was patrolling near the border. A drunk rogue cornered me and started getting aggressive.

Just when I thought I was finished, Ethan exploded out of nowhere like a feral wolf. He kicked the rogue so hard that the guy went flying.

He positioned himself between us and wrapped his arms around me. His voice came out softer than I'd ever heard it. "Don't be scared. I've got you."

That day, he followed me all the way home, his wolf's golden eyes glowing in the darkness until he watched me step through my front door.

In that moment, my seventeen-year-old heart shattered every wall I'd built.

That feeling when you're young hits you like a wolf going feral, raw and unstoppable.

Ethan and I started dating and even talked about becoming mates, but then my parents found out I was seeing a rogue wolf.

They lost their minds and locked me in the house, demanding I cut all contact. They said rogue wolves were dangerous and I was destroying my future.

But all I could think about was Ethan.

For seventeen years, I'd been the perfect daughter, obedient and compliant.

Ethan was like a hammer that smashed through all those pack rules and dragged me into a world that was dangerous but real.

He'd sneak me past our territory line into the wild lands, and we'd shift and run under the moonlight. During my first heat, he stayed by my side, clumsy but determined to protect me.

For what felt like destiny, I jumped out of my second-floor window and ran away with him.

In the border woods, he held me so tight I could feel his heart pounding like a war drum.

He asked me, "Aria, if you're with me, there's no pack protection. We'll have to survive by hunting. Are you scared?"

I looked up at him with stars in my eyes. "I'm not scared."

"Good. I swear, Ethan Hayes, if I ever betray you as my mate, I deserve to die a miserable death."

His vow was real back then.

And the days that followed were brutal.

We lived in an abandoned rundown shack and survived by hunting. Winter nights were so cold that we had to huddle together in our wolf forms just to stay warm.

Ethan would give me the only rabbit he'd caught and use his body heat to warm my freezing feet.

We fought like hell to build something better.

Ethan was smart and fearless, so he started recruiting other rogue wolves and slowly built his own pack.

I went from being helpless to standing beside him as his Luna.

We moved out of that rundown shack into a pack house and eventually claimed our own territory.

The day of our mating ceremony, he bit down on my neck in front of my entire pack and declared me his Luna, and the whole pack howled with joy for us.

I thought that was our happy ending, that we'd be together forever.

Until that young Omega showed up, barely of age. She was so young, and the way she looked at him with those adoring eyes reminded me exactly of myself back then.

Ethan fell for her.

We fought and threw things, and eventually it turned into us tearing at each other with claws and teeth.

We went from fated mates to enemies who wanted each other dead.

The door suddenly burst open, and eighteen-year-old Ethan walked in, but when he looked at me, there was no trace of that young love in his eyes. Instead, I saw something that made my heart sink, something complicated and dark. It was exhaustion and resentment, the kind that came from living through everything we'd been through.

One look was all it took for me to understand.

He'd been reborn, too.

And he knew I had been as well.

Using my memories from my past life, I dodged every pack that was about to collapse and invested in every rising Alpha with perfect timing. Two years after my rebirth, Silver Moon Pack became the wealthiest pack in the region, and I expanded the pack house for my parents.Four years in, I'd built a cross-pack investment network spanning the entire West Coast.News about Ethan trickled back to me now and then.He and Sophia had scraped together some pathetic excuse for a pack, but they were barely surviving. Sophia burned through their resources like they meant nothing, and Ethan couldn't hold territory to save his life. The wolves under them fought constantly, tearing the pack apart from the inside. Then Ethan got hooked on wolfsbane and racked up massive debts with half a dozen packs. Wolves were hunting him day and night.Sophia grabbed whatever supplies were left and ran off with a stronger rogue.Desperate and cornered, Ethan led his remaining wolves in a raid on another pack's ter

At the celebration dinner, Kaden got drunk and grabbed my hand. "Elowen, I know I was hard on you before, but I just didn't want you going down the wrong path. Now you can find yourself a good Alpha and settle down.""I'm not looking for anyone." I poured him another drink. "I'm going to make money and take care of you both.""Silly girl, everyone finds their mate eventually."The whole evening was perfect, everyone laughing and talking, the pack celebrating together. When we were leaving, someone called out to me. "Elowen!"Ethan walked over in a full suit. I hadn't seen him in months, and he looked darker, bulkier, with that same cocky edge but worse. Sophie trailed behind him in a wedding dress and heavy makeup, strutting like a peacock showing off its feathers."Well, well, celebrating?" Ethan stopped right in front of us. "Mr. Silvertail, no need to look so pissed. I'm having my wedding reception in the hall next door, so why don't you all come have a drink before you go? I'm Elow

After my shower, I collapsed onto the soft bed and nearly groaned out loud with relief. This was living. All that true mate destiny bullshit was a lie. The absolute truth was that a rogue without a pack would only drag you down.Fate had given me a second chance, and I wasn't going to waste it by living like a joke again. In my past life, I'd taught myself finance, management, and territory negotiations just to help that rogue build his pack. Ethan's pathetic pack only grew because of me, and at least half of his success was my doing. Now I was back with twenty-nine years of experience and a head full of pack management knowledge, and if I couldn't make something of myself this time, I deserved to fail. The next day, the moment I stepped outside, every single person stared at me. Running off with some outsider rogue apparently made explosive gossip.Whispers came from every direction. "Elowen's back." "I heard she was going to complete the mate bond with Ethan, so why'd she come back s

  • From Rogue's Luna to Alpha's Queen   Chapter 5

On the drive home with Lyra, everything felt surreal, as if I were living someone else's memories. I leaned back against the seat and watched the streets blur past the window, and tears started sliding down my cheeks before I could stop them. In my past life, after I ran away with Ethan, we couldn't afford decent transportation. We had to shift and run everywhere on four legs, living like rogues with no pack and no home.Lyra was driving, but I could see her wiping her own tears, and she still managed to scold me between sniffles. "Now you're crying? Where was this when you decided to skip Alpha training and run off with some rogue? Do you have any idea how much shame you brought on me and your father?"Her familiar nagging made my chest feel warm despite everything."Mom, I'm sorry," I said quietly.Lyra froze and then slammed on the brakes so hard the car jerked to a stop on the side of the road. She twisted around and pulled me into her arms, sobbing so hard her whole body shook. "Y

  • From Rogue's Luna to Alpha's Queen   Chapter 4

Ethan's face twisted like I'd punched him in the gut. He thought I'd beg and cry for the mate bond just like in my past life, that I'd throw myself at him and even die for him if he asked. In his mind, I was still that lovesick fool he could control however he wanted."Honey, what did you just say?"Ethan shot up from the bed, and the cheap frame let out a harsh screech."You think you're playing hard to get? You were just crying on that cliff about how I'm the only Alpha you'll ever want, and now that your mom's here you're backing out? You think because we got a second chance you can just dump me and find some other Alpha?"He jabbed his finger at my face, and spit flew from his mouth as he yelled.Lyra flinched at his aggressive display and instinctively stepped in front of me. "Hey! Back off and keep your hands to yourself!"I stared at Ethan with ice in my veins. This was the man I'd loved for two lifetimes. How was I so blind in my past life? I actually thought this thug behavior

  • From Rogue's Luna to Alpha's Queen   Chapter 3

Standing in this rundown shack that used to be full of sweet memories, the air felt so thick with awkwardness that even my wolf was growling low in my chest."Back there at the cliff," Ethan cleared his throat, and his voice came out rough. "I was pissed off and running my mouth. Don't take it to heart."I stared at him and suddenly felt like this was all absurd.Years ago in this very place, he'd held me and said, "My Luna, I'm sorry you had to suffer. I promise I'll give you the best territory when I become Alpha."Back then, I believed he meant it.Just like when he humiliated me at the cliff's edge, I believed he meant that, too.The love was real, and so was the hate.Time had a way of grinding fated mates down into enemies. We sat on opposite ends of that broken bed, and neither of us said a word."Aria, since we're both back now..." Ethan started, but urgent pounding on the door cut him off.I got up to answer it.The moment I opened the door, I froze. My mother stood there—Lyra
