Bellatrix Sinclair

My heart was racing, goosebumps erupting upon my skin as I locked eyes with the man holding a knife to Nova’s throat, pressing the blade until blood spilled from the wound. I’m hit with a wave of nausea as the metallic scent of her blood warped my senses, bile rising in my throat that was even harder to swallow.

“Stop.” I hissed, sharpening my gaze. “I’ll give you what you want.”

His condescending voice grated my ears. “That’s a good girl.”

The man holding the gun to my head scoffed, annoyed. “From what I heard, you were a girl who gambled with bigger stakes.” He clicked his tongue sourly. “I’m disappointed.”

I bit my tongue, squashing the defiance. They were antagonizing us, goading a reaction to warrant our deaths. Rage flashed in Nova’s eyes, her expression volatile and carved with ire. Even at the brink of death, she was giving me permission to sacrifice her life in exchange for these ledgers.

Bellatrix SinclairA deadly silence envelops the room as the doctor lifted his gaze, a bloody scalpel in one hand and a massive syringe in the other.“Valeria.” I called sharply. She whizzed past me, accompanied by the shadows who immediately captured the doctor. “Hey, hey, wait.”The doctor loomed over the metal table and the woman was barely conscious, flesh torn apart and her skin coated in blood, sweat and grim. The doctor let out an anxious chuckle, crimson splotches on his white coat and bloody drenched gloves. “Do you really want to do this?” He smirked, sinisterly, arching a challenging brow. “The moment I step out of here, all of you will die.”Those words were spoken with certainty, a menacing glint in those sapphires. I glanced at Emmett, observing the way his eyes darkened with ire. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”He gave a stiff nod, marching over to the doctor. “Do you know Donovan Van Acker?”“No.” He denied all-too quickly, confirming our suspicions.Emmett scoff

Emmett De LoughreyMy eyes widened at the interception, quickly grabbing her wrist and pulling her aside from the bustling crowd. “What are you doing here?”“What does it look like?” She fired back, dryly. My pulse quickened, a dangerous thunder in my chest as I surveyed the chaos. “You can’t be here, it’s dangerous. I’m close to-”She quirks a brow, her voice filled with sarcasm. “Really?“Does Lazarus know you are here?” I asked, a sharp edge in my tone.He would never approve of this, especially when I told him that the Death Pit was wild and these people were pure savages.“I don’t need his permission. I can take care of myself.” She snapped, folding her arms, her expression pulled taut in irritation.Sucking in a breath, the vicious roars of the crowd and her presence completely overwhelming me. Running my fingers through my hair, frustrated and on edge. “I know you can take care of yourself, but this is different. I can’t focus if I’m worried about your safety.”Her gaze softene

Bellatrix SinclairLazarus arched his eyebrow, silently judging me while letting out an exasperated sigh. “Can’t you go anywhere without bringing the wounded to my doorstep.”I laughed, awkwardly. A pathetic attempt to lighten the mood, especially with that death glare he was shooting them over my shoulder. His expression pulled taut with disdain. “Leave.”“Come on Lazarus.” I frowned, a knot between my brows. “She saved my life and she’s leaving in a few days.”His jaw tensed, sharp like blade. “And him? Why did you bring him here?” He spat venomously.Colton held Bonnie in his arms, refusing to put her down despite her protest. He was adamant on her recovery and her protection. “Colton, take her to the guest bedroom.” I instructed, holding Lazarus’s attention. His footsteps faded while Nova handed over her backpack, her voice barely above a whisper. &

Bellatrix SinclairI felt a tightness in my chest, dropping to my knees next to her crumbling form. Bonnie hunched over, clutching her face while blood dripped between her fingers. Terror pierced my heart, suffocated by the dead silence.“Bonnie, let me see.” I choked out. “Please.”My body shook violently, indifference and dread forming a lump in my throat as I begged, “Please Bonnie.”I couldn’t recognize the person in front of me, hardly believing that this person was my sister. For years, at the slightest inconvenience she would throw a tantrum yet right now – she didn’t make a sound.Bonnie lifted her head slowly and I gasped at the horror, crimson stained cheeks with blood pouring from the huge gash upon the right side of her face. It ran from the top of her brow, over her eye and down to her mouth. She gave me a soft smile, woven with sorrow and regret. “I’m glad you&rs

Bellatrix SinclairI was hypervigilant, carving my expression into stone while my heart rioted in my chest. We didn’t encounter any detours while re-entering the base, pivoting to my room with Nova in toe. However, we parted ways with Judah who volunteered to be the decoy. An eerie silence settled in the halls, goosebumps prickling my flesh in alert. We moved quickly, keeping our footsteps light to ensure we don’t draw attention to ourselves. Once I reached my room, slowly closing the door behind us.Nova fidgeted, gnawing on her bottom lip as agitation slowly chewed away at her. “Do you think Judah will be okay?”Rummaging through my draws until I find the journal. The anticipation of our failure made me physically ill; every second was critical and equally nerve-wrecking. I shook my head, flipping through the pages. “We cannot afford to be pessimistic right now.” I declared sharply, forcing us to focus. “We have a goal to accomplish, the sooner we do then we can get Judah out of har
