Ava let out a sigh for what must have been umpteenth time. They’d finally arrived at Riverfalls after what had felt like forever for her. They had a couple of hiccups on the way. She glanced at Collins who was looking out of the window.

She absentmindedly grabbed one of his hands and softly massaged his knuckles. He turned to her, sending a small smile to her. They had encountered a couple of rogues that had tried to cause some trouble. Luckily, Collins protected her and didn’t let them take even a step towards her. She had another reason to be grateful to Collins.

His hand went to her tummy and she resisted the urge to giggle. He looked at her as he softly ran his hand over it.

“Are you okay baby?” He asked in a soft voice.

She knew he wasn’t referring to her but she decided to answer anyway. “Of course I am. All thanks to you my love.”

He rolled his eyes before letting out a laugh. The carriage stopped at the entrance of the hall. Collins was the first to get out of the carriage. H

Ava couldn’t believe the applause and welcome they had gotten when Collins made that announcement. She really had not expected any of that at all. Yet, they had gotten all that. She still remembered the way she had locked gazes with Logan. What was going through his head? What was he thinking about? Was he thinking about her? so many thoughts ran through her head, much more than she could actually comprehend. She let out a shaky breath, trying not to let it show.Collins wasn’t one to let things pass by him. He had already noticed her sudden silence and was starting to grow worried.“Baby.” He put a hand under her chin, forcing him to look at her. “What’s wrong?”She immediately shook her hand, wrapping her hand around his. “It’s nothing. I’m fine.”He didn’t look like he believed her one

The whole hall was filled with the sound of loud and thundering applause but the only thing Logan could hear was the sound of his heart pounding hard against his chest. Did he just hear that correctly?A child? The tight feeling in his chest increased exponentially as he let it all sink in. Ava had moved on with her life and didn’t let the past hold her back. She had flourished and thrived all this time while he strained his back against the weight of his future role as Alpha of the pack.Logan didn’t need to turn to feel his father’s eyes on him. The man was probably watching, waiting to see what his reaction would be. He felt like a prey under the watchful eyes of an unpredictable predator.“So the rat survived.” Ryker commented, his eyes fixed on the couple on stage.Logan felt a retort building deep in his chest. Ava wasn’t a rat and she ought not to be referred to that way. Still, he didn’t say anything. He couldn’t even if he wanted to. He had to know his place. Challenging his

It was like all time had just come to a standstill. She didn’t even know what to say or do. Her body couldn’t even move even if she willed it to. Logan. It was actually Logan. She had always envisioned this day in her head for months on end. Now that it was finally here, she had frozen up. She internally scolded herself. She had to toughen up. She couldn’t just freeze up when the one person she had prepared herself against was finally before her.“Ava?” Logan was the first to speak. He had already gotten over the initial shock. Her lips pressed into a firm line as she stared at him. He was still looking at her as if unable to believe it was her standing before him. Well, it definitely was her. In the flesh. “You’re alive?” He asked, still surprised that she was actually standing before him.If someone had actually told Logan that he’d see her at this summit, he would have called the person’s bluff and might have even cut of the person’s tongue if he was pissed. This was crazy. Maybe

“I’m so fucking done with this shit.” Logan cursed under his breath.“Come on. It’s not actually that bad.” Jake leaned close to him and whispered. Logan rolled his eyes for what must have been the hundredth time that day. They had arrived at the summit about an hour ago. The whole place had been well decorated for the event. Riverfalls housed one of the biggest halls across many cities and towns. It was where the summit was mostly held.It also had a lot of aesthetic scenery that were pleasing to the eyes. It was truly a place for a meeting of this caliber. The summit was held every year for different packs to convene and discuss issues of importance. He had been attending it for the past few years with his father. It granted him the chance to interact with the Alphas of other packs. It would be better to get himself acquainted with them now. H

“That isn’t your purpose, is it? Your purpose is to fight back, to fight against all that threatens the serenity and peace of our beloved pack.”Ava watched in silence as Collins addressed the people of Silver Bay Pack. They would be leaving for the summit that day. She already had everything she would need packed and was ready to go. Collins had decided to address the pack first before it would be time for them to leave.“Never forget your heritage and pack. You are members of this esteemed pack. We rule by power and equity. May the moon goddess bless us and continue to grant us the prosperity needed for our pack to blossom into abundance.”The whole crowd erupted into a round of applause. They continued to clap for quite some time, moved by Collins’ uplifting words. Ava found herself clapping herself, equally moved by the impact of his words. He really knew how to lift the spirits of a large group of people just by saying what was necessary. It was no surprise that he was the Alpha
