Her eyes opened gradually as she squinted, trying to adjust to the blurry light that blinded her view. She gasped as a slight headache hit her, causing her to close her eyes again.
She blinked repeatedly, and the blurry views gradually became clear with each effort.
“Goodness, Ava, you’re awake,” a concerned voice said beside her, and she turned to see someone familiar. “You scared the devil out of me when I got here and saw you like this.”
“Shirley?” Ava whispered, turning tentatively to her friend, who held her hands firmly in hers, her eyes watery from tears.
“You stubborn, lousy fellow,” Shirley breathed out, a mix of anger and relief. Ava smiled, wondering why she was being overly dramatic this morning. Morning!
“Not again.” Ava groaned, “I think this time around, I will gladly walk to the grinder myself.”
“What?” Shirley asked.
“I'm late again, I woke up late.” She fussed, not wanting to stand up from the comfortable bed.
“Late? If you're well, get your ass up so we can return to the quarters.” Shirley said, rolling her eyes.
“Back to the quarters?” Ava asked, surprised. “If I’m not in the quarters, where am I?” She looked around the unfamiliar but perfect bedroom she was in. A slight gasp escaped her mouth as the unfamiliar place filled her view.
“Where in the universe is this place, Shirley?” she asked, taking in the flawless white bedroom decorated in gold and emerald colours. The king-size bed was extremely cosy and comfortable; she would have loved to spend the rest of her life sleeping in it. “Are we dead somehow and ended up in heaven?”
Shirley turned to her, a throaty laugh escaping her mouth. “You don’t remember?” she asked, looking confused.
“Remember what?” Ava replied, turning her gaze back to her friend, whose eyes bore keenly into hers. “How can you not remember how in the Goddess’ kindness you found yourself in the Pack leader’s chambers? Not to mention how you ended up sick and sleeping comfortably on his bed, don't you remember?”
Ava gasped. So it was not a dream? She had dined and wine with the Pack leader a short while ago. She gasped again at how itchy her throat suddenly became after eating some of the chicken. She gasped loudly at how he had carried her in his broad arms and how boldly she had rested her head on his broad chest and blurted nonsense.
Gasping in a louder voice, she shrank and pushed herself away from the bed suddenly, causing Shirley to jump in fright.
“Are you okay?” Shirley asked, concerned at her unusual behaviour. “Shirley, what do you think the time is?” Ava asked, quickly adjusting her dress and putting on her footwear. No way is the Pack Leader her mate! Or maybe it's a good thing he's.
“9 PM, I guess,” Shirley replied, still stunned.
“Shit!!” Ava breathed hastily. “I slept for hours, you won't believe I consumed garlic.”
Shirley gasped. “How? I bet you didn't eat so where did you get garlic from?”
“From the Pack Leader's table.” She said simply, a smile crept to her face as she remembered her cosy feelings from earlier. Logan is her freaking Mate.
“You don't mean Alpha Prince Logan offered you food at his table?”
Ava shrugged, she opened her mouth to confirm it but the sudden opening of the door interrupted her.
They both turned and bowed immediately. Logan stepped foot into the room.
“I see you're well now Ava.” He replied, his face expressionless.
“I am, My Lord.” She replied, her gaze meeting his. She sought to see the joy in his face but his face was devoid of any emotions whatsoever. She can't place her hand on why he felt displeased at her finding out that he's her potential Mate.
“I'm sorry for the discomfort.”
“I'm glad you're fine, I bet your friend here and a few other guards will accompany you back to your quarters.” He explained with a nod and turned to leave. “I will have the physician attend to you tomorrow.”
Ava watched him turn and her heart did a sad beat. Why isn't he acknowledging the Mate issue.
“My Lord.” She called, her voice stern with a hint of anger. “Earlier today…”
“Nothing happened today Ava..” he countered, interrupting her. “Now go back to your quarters.” Without sparing her a glance, he closed the door behind him.
She watched the door, angry at his arrogance while Shirley watched confused.
“Let's go home Shirley.” She ordered simply, walking towards the entrance. Maybe he's not accepting the fact they're Mate because she's a lowly slave. Or maybe he's just trying to come to terms with the fact he already had a betrothed. The almighty Lady Fluer.
Shirley nodded, walking with her as they walked out of the mansion into the chilling air. Few steps away from the Alpha Prince mansion, someone called her name.
“Ava?” A tiny voice came from the darkness, causing them both to jump as a frail woman emerged.
Ava and Shirley gasped at the presence before them and knelt immediately.
“My Lady.”
Ava and Collins arrived at Silver Bay Pack eventually. The summit had been more or less a success regardless of the few hiccups they had encountered. Ava never thought she’d actually see them there.Their carriage pulled into the palace and stopped at the entry. Collins got out of the carriage first before helping her out as well. She smiled at him in appreciation as she stepped down onto the ground. Her eyes trailed around the palace grounds and at the tall buildings that towered them. It felt good to be back home.“Finally.” Samos cracked his neck before stretching out his arms.“I thought that summit was going to last forever.” Ava joked.“You said it.” Samos blew out a breath.Collins smiled at the easy going conversation between them. He turned to the servants who had immediately gathere
Logan blinked dumfounded at Fluer. Had he heard her correctly? Maybe there was something in his ears. Yeah. That was definitely it. He had misheard her.“What did you just say?” He stared at her intently, waiting on what her reply would be.“I’m pregnant.” Fluer repeated. Her eyes looked sore and red. She had probably been crying a lot. He was a bit perplexed by that fact. Normally, this would have been good enough news for her to be all happy and joyful. The Fluer that he was used to would have announced it throughout the pack that she was pregnant. So what was wrong with her now?As she was his betrothed, it wasn’t out of the ordinary that they’d gotten intimate often. Though he liked to make it something he didn’t get too used to. He had to make sure he didn’t get to attached to her. Try as she may, he didn’t love Fluer and
The day had gone by before he even realized it and Logan was just about it. He wanted nothing more than to just collapse onto the bed. He’d veered away from approaching his father’s throne room. Call it fear or whatever you may but he preferred not to poke the lion’s tail. No doubt his father would have been angry about the way he had just left the summit. In his defense, he didn’t want to hear about the result of his mate getting knocked up by someone else. Someone that wasn’t him.He fell back on his bed with a sigh. It would be better to completely stay away from his father’s room. Better not to invite the Alpha’s rage with his own hands. He stared at the ceiling various thoughts running through his head.A knock on the door brought him out of the door. He raised his head, his eyes immediately narrowing at the door. Who could it be that would decide to disturb his peace at this moment? The knock came again after some time had passed and he let out an annoyed grunt. “A message my
Logan should be used to waking up to a splitting headache by now. He really should be used to it already. Except he wasn’t. He let out a groan as he clutched his head, trying to will the pain back. Try as he may, he couldn’t push back the splitting headache that rocked through his head. He slowly blinked away the sleep. His eyes raked around the whole room. He was in his room. Funny enough, he didn’t even remember getting here. He begrudgingly got up from the bed and slowly made his way to the bathroom. He let out another sigh when he saw his reflection in the mirror. He looked like shit. More so than he normally did. His head hurt even more when he tries to recall the memories of what went on last night.Logan shook his head and splashed his face with some water before making his way back to his room. He sat on his bed and buried his head in his hands.“Fuck.” He muttered. He wished he could at least know why his head was hurting so much but the answer to that seemed implausible eve
“I’m so sorry my lady. Forgive me my lady.” Fluer looked down at the man kneeling before her. She had a look of disgust in her eyes as she looked down at him. The man that had served as a Logan’s servant on the trip he’d taken a long while ago. He had been there with him that day. The day that he had been at that bar.Fluer had been restless since the day she’d tried confronting Logan about the woman he’d been searching far and wide for. She knew something was up, and she had been right about it after all. Standing before her was the man who had all the answers to her questions.“I don’t need apologies from you. I want you to give me an answer.”Fluer got up from her seat. She had brought him into her room and had him stand before her. She slowly paced around the man. She could already see him trembling slightly. He was scared. Good. That was actually what she wanted.“I asked you a question, Fenwick. Tell me everything that went down that day. Everything.” He remained silent, not g
Eventually the summit had come to an end and most packs had started leaving. Collins took that as their sign to leave as well.“We’d better start heading home.” Collins pointed out to the near empty hall.Ava nodded her head to that thought. Collins reached out a hand to her and helped her up. He was being pretty careful when it came to her due to her condition. He already felt connected to that child and couldn’t fathom the thought of anything happening to her and the child.“Yeah, I’m beat.” Samos let out a yawn. They were still making their way outside when Ava was suddenly feeling pressed. She tapped on Collins’ shoulder to get his attention.“I have to use the bathroom.” She said to him.Collins nodded his head, understanding why she’d need to do so. He was about to offer to follow her when she spoke again.“You don’t have to come with me. I’ll be super quick I promise.” She sent him a small smile before pulling away from him and hurrying towards the bathroom.Once she was done r
