Sebastian's POV

I jolt awake with a sickening headache. Beads of sweat formed in my forehead and the sheets beneath me felt damp.

It was that same nightmare again. It had been recurring ever since I witnessed that gruesome scene of my mother getting beheaded.

I will never be able to forget that day. At least, not until I had avenged her death. And that was my plan. Kill every bastard involved in her death.

"Well we have an unresolved issue." My wolf, Helz, reminded me.

Yeah, that was right. My mind trailed back to her. Susanna Jean. When I had first met her in the bar, I hadn't even realized she was that bastard, Derek's ex-Luna.

But after she'd mysteriously disappeared, I'd had my men investigate and that was when I found out she might be in danger.

And of course, I had saved her.

Derek Heathrow! I had always hated the bastard's gut, not because he could compare to me in any way, but because since his pack started to flourish, he started acting out.

He completely forgot where his place was— below me. Every single deal I tried to make with the human world, he competed for it as though we were on the same level.

Maybe it was high time I taught him where his place was.

I took a quick bath and went down to the guest room where the doctor had treated Susanna last night.

As my gaze trained on her sleeping figure, I felt that prickle of awareness again, just like yesterday. Seriously, the moon goddess could do better.

Just when I had decided to give up finding my fated mate, she brought her right to my path. And  here she was, asleep and dressed in my big white shirt, stirring things in me that I'd rather not feel.

Then it suddenly crossed my mind. She hadn't seemed to recognize our matebond and that had gotten me so riled up for some reasons.

"Please, don't hurt me." A disgruntled noise from her jolted me out of my thoughts.

I inched closer only to see she still had her eyes shut, obviously asleep, but she was covered in sweat, pain flickering across her face.

Something primal shifted in me.

I could've just left the room that instant but it was as if my body moved of their own accord and the next thing I knew was I had grabbed a towel and started wiping the sweat off her face.

Big fucking mistake.

She snagged at my arms, the power in her hands surprising me even as I found myself lying on the bed beside her.

My body went stiff as she clinged onto my arm, every coherent thought vanishing from my head.

"Please, help me. They are going to hurt me." She said softly, eyes still closed.

The pain on her face poked at my protective instinct. But it didn't stop there, it had to rouse an ache in my lower region.

I wanted her. I realized with a start.

I've wanted her right from the moment I laid my eyes on her. And it didn't spell well at all. Apart from the fact that not many women could speak my erection into existence, she was an enemy.

Even if they were divorced, she had still been married to Derek fr some time and had helped his pack grow enough to make him become so disrespectful. So, basically, she was still an enemy.

Or maybe not.

Well, yeah, damn it! She wasn't even in a conscious state of mind and I shouldn't be having such thoughts. I quickly shrugged the thought off and focused on getting off the bed.

I tried withdrawing my arms from under her but she suddenly stirred awake and the next thing I knew was her palms connecting with my face, hot and hard.

"You disgusting pervert!" She yelled as she jerked off the bed.

As the Lycan king of the Moonstone pack, no one had ever slapped me before. Ever!

In fact, two days ago, I could've sworn by all the gods that had ever existed that if anyone had tried it, their head would have been separated from the body the next second.

But why wasn't I getting angry at this effortlessly sexy mate of mine as she held her fist up as though she wanted to punch my face again?

"Calm down," I found myself telling her, my voice unnecessarily sweet. "I wasn't trying to make a move on you. You were sweating and I thought I could help."

"Liar!" My wolf, Helz countered. "You sure considered touching her silky smooth skin."

"Oh, shut up! What do you know?" I scolded him inwardly.

She kept mute, her eyes still wide as she studied me closely. Then after a while, she dropped her fist and expelled a sigh of relief.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know it was you. You're the guy from the bar, right?"

She sat back on the bed. "Thank you so much for saving me from those monsters."

For the first time in my life, I was at a loss for what to say. I kid you not, the only thing I could think about was how beautiful her ice blue eyes looked and how sexy her plump lips were.

A knock on the door distracted me and even without seeing him, I already knew it was my Beta, Thorne.

"Well, I've got to—"

"Could we make a quick deal before you go?"

I cocked my brows in amusement. "Interesting. You want to make a deal with the Lycan king?"

It was supposed to be an inner monologue but too late, the gasp of shock that tore out of her throat told me I had said it out loud.

"You're Sebastian Moonstone, the Lycan king?" She asked.

The way she called my name almost had me begging her to say it again, but I snatched back control from my wolf.

"Yeah, I am. And I'm willing to make a deal with you so far I'm getting something out of it."

She shrugged. "Well, I don't have much to offer. I was thrown out penniless and—" she hesitated. "Well, I lost my wolf when those bastards poisoned me. So, I really don't have much to offer."

I couldn't help the sigh of relief that escaped my lips. At least, that made more sense. She hadn't been ignoring the matebond. She simply hadn't felt it because she lost her wolf.

A smile tugged at my lips, slightly. "Well, so what deal do you propose?"

"Well, I need you to help me—"

The sound of the knock interrupted, this time urgent and louder.

"Okay, I accept whatever deal you propose. Let's discuss the details later." I tell her quickly before going out of the room.

"Alpha." Thorne greeted me as he saw me.

I raised a questioning eyebrow. "Yes?"

"Well, our men just found a connection between Derek Heathrow and your mother's death."

My fist clenched. "What connection?"

"He seemed to have had a hand in the rogue attack that killed your mother!"

Susanna’s POVThe castle felt alive. Not in the warm, comforting way a home might be alive, but in the sharp, watchful way a predator waits in the dark.Every stone in these walls had seen things. Heard things. And right now, they were listening for me.Sebastian’s sentinels weren’t just guards they were wolves honed into living weapons. I could feel it in the way the air shifted around them, the way their movements carried no wasted energy. They didn’t need to see me to know I was there… all they had to do was sense the wrong breath, the wrong heartbeat, and the game would be over. But I wasn’t about to lose. Not to them. And definitely not to him.The plan was simple, reach Sebastian’s office without being caught. But “simple” in his castle was a lie. His security was a labyrinth of eyes and ears, both human and wolf. He’d designed it that way on purpose. This wasn’t just a test. This was him putting me in Derek’s mansion before we ever stepped foot there.I hugged the curve of the

Sebastian’s POVBy the time I made it to the forest the morning sun was just breaking over the high stone walls, casting long shadows across the packed dirt floor.Susanna was already there. She stood near the far end, hair loose around her shoulders, wearing black training leathers that clung to every curve. She wasn’t looking at me, but she knew I was there. I could tell from the way her spine straightened, the subtle shift of her stance.I forced my gaze off her body and onto the task at hand. This wasn’t supposed to be about last night. This was about Derek. This was about our plan. But my wolf didn’t care about missions or strategy right now he only cared about the fact that she still smelled like us.“Ready?” I asked, my voice carrying easily across the space. Her eyes flicked to mine for the briefest moment, then away again. “We have work to do.”The same words she’d thrown at me before leaving my room.I stepped onto the training floor, closing the distance between us. “We

Sebastian’s POVShe turned away from me before I could read her eyes. That alone told me everything I needed to know. She was running. Not with her legs. With her heart. I sat there, the crumpled sheets a testament to a night that she was desperately trying to erase. She moved toward the door in that silk robe like it was armor, each step a conscious effort to rebuild the walls she’d let me tear down. My fingers twitched with the urge to grab her, to pin her to the wall until she stopped pretending that last night was anything less than what it was, an undeniable truth. Her scent still clung to my skin, tangled with mine in a way no bath could erase. It was driving my wolf insane. He paced inside me, a caged beast of pure, possessive need, whispering one word over and over again.Ours.“Susanna,” I said, my voice low enough to make her stop mid air and step. She didn’t turn. I rose from the bed, slow, deliberate. The sheet slipped lower on my hips, a deliberate act of vulnera

Susanna’s POVI woke before the sun.The sheets were warm against my skin, smelling faintly of cedar, leather… and him. Sebastian’s scent clung to me like an invisible mark, one I couldn’t wash off no matter how many baths I took. My body still hummed faintly with the echoes of the night before a heat low in my stomach, a heavy languid ache in my muscles. And yet, the first thing that hit me wasn’t satisfaction. It was regret. Not the simple kind. Not the kind you feel when you make a mistake and wish you could undo it. This was deeper. More complicated.Because I couldn’t tell if I regretted what happened… or if I regretted how much I had wanted it.The memory was already pressing at the edges of my mind his hands gripping my hips like he’d waited his entire life to touch me, his mouth claiming mine like we were the only two people left in the world, the way his wolf had come through his eyes in molten gold and refused to let me go.I shifted slightly in the bed, and my thighs b

Sebastian’s POV“Say my name.”Her voice wasn’t just sound, it was a trigger. The last thread of restraint inside me snapped.I moved before I could think, before I could second-guess. My mouth crushed hers, a claiming, a taking my kiss demanding everything, her breath, her will, her surrender. She gave it, meeting me with heat, her fingers tangling hard in my hair as if she wanted to pull me deeper into her.My wolf surged forward with a growl I didn’t bother to hold back. I felt the shift in my eyes, the burn of gold flooding my vision, the sharpened edge to my senses. Her scent hit me like a drug, warm skin, faint lavender soap, and that intoxicating undertone that was her. My hands roamed greedily, mapping every inch, every curve, claiming territory I’d been holding myself back from for far too long. Her towel loosened under my grip. I didn’t give her the choice to keep it. One sharp tug and it fell away, pooling forgotten at our feet. I leaned back just enough to look at he

Susanna’s POVI could feel his eyes on me before I even turned. That heavy, unblinking stare the kind that pins you in place slid over my skin like a touch.Sebastian stood in the doorway, frozen mid-step. His gaze locked on me as though I were prey he had been tracking for far too long. His shoulders were tense, his chest rising slowly but heavily, every inhale sounding like it scraped against control. The air between us shifted thicker, darker, charged with something primal. And I knew exactly what it was.His wolf was pressing hard against him. I could see in his eyes that dangerous gold was bleeding through, the fight between control and surrender written in every taut line of his body.I didn’t move. Not yet.Instead, I let the steam curl lazily off my damp skin, clinging in small, shimmering beads that caught the morning light. I reached for the towel slowly, deliberately, letting the soft cotton slide against me as I wrapped it around myself. His gaze followed every moveme
