CHAPTER 14: Mirabella's POV

The doorbell rang, once, twice. I didn’t want to get out of bed. Whoever it was could go to hell. The bell rang again, and I groaned, reluctantly throwing my covers off of me. I put on my robe and made my way downstairs.

Giovanni hadn’t taken what I said to him the other day very well at all. He was pissed beyond control. But I didn’t care. I wasn’t about to leave one cage just to enter another—no matter how enticing it was or how much my body ached for his touch.

I opened the door to see Eliana standing there, smiling. She stepped inside.

“Don’t tell me you’re not dressed up yet,” she said, her smile fading as she glanced around. Right, the Gala.

“Give me a moment,” I replied, heading upstairs. She followed closely behind.

“You bitch,” she teased, a smirk on her face. “You live in one of the most expensive estates in all of LA. No wonder you didn’t want us here,” she said.

I undressed and headed into the bathroom. From inside, I called out, “Pick

CHAPTER 29: Giovanni's POV The night air was still, calm even, nothing like the storm brewing inside me. Two days stolen. Two days of not knowing if she was still alive, if she was hurt, if she was scared. Two days of replaying every decision that led to this moment. We crouched behind the overgrown hedges flanking the west side of the abandoned building. Cracked windows, rusted metal, a collapsed fence. It looked like nothing but my Mirabella was in there. I needed to get her back, to have her in my arms.Every inch of me was wound tight. The kind of tight that came before the storm broke. Before men bled and begged and cities burned. The kind of tight I hadn’t felt since the day I buried my sister.Lorenzo whispered beside me, “Three guards at the front. Two in the back. Cameras were cut an hour ago. Diane handled it.”I gave a single nod. My pulse didn’t race. It never did. Not when it mattered. This wasn’t rage anymore. This was resolve.I’d burned men alive for less

CHAPTER 28: Mirabella's POV The car ride was quiet. Too quiet.Max's knuckles were tight around the steering wheel, jaw rigid, eyes locked on the dark, empty streets ahead. Streetlights flashed across his face like a warning sign, but he didn't speak.I didn’t either. Not right away. What was there to say when the man who supposedly wanted to protect you just shoved a needle in your arm and kidnapped you?Real protector-of-the-year behavior. My head still buzzed faintly, the aftereffects of whatever the hell he drugged me with making the world tilt ever so slightly. But my mind? Sharp as glass.“You realize this is illegal, right?” I finally broke the silence, my voice low but steady, eyes narrowing on his profile. “I mean, I know cops have superiority complexes, but kidnapping? Bit much.”Max's jaw flexed, but he didn’t look at me. “You wouldn’t listen. You never listen.”“Because your idea of 'listening' is me rolling over and playing scared little damsel? Sorry, not happening.”Th

CHAPTER 27: Eliana's POV I paced the length of my bedroom in my parent's house, phone clutched in my hand, the screen taunting me with silence. Two days. Two damn days since Chloe disappeared. Her last message was still there, a glowing reminder of how quickly everything fell apart."I’m at Vero’s Café. Be home soon.”But she never came home.I ran my fingers through my hair, heart pounding against my ribs. My parents thought I was being dramatic, that maybe Chloe just needed space, but no. I knew her. She wouldn't vanish like this.Unless someone made her. The thought made my skin crawl.I stormed into the kitchen where my parents were finishing dinner, their voices low, casual. The normalcy of it all grated on me."Dad," I said, sharper than intended. He looked up, eyebrows raised. "What is it, honey?""I need a number," I said, crossing my arms. "From one of your business contacts."My father exchanged a glance with my mother. "Eliana, this isn’t the time to-""It is," I snapped.

CHAPTER 26: Mirabella's POV The faint clink of glassware woke me before my alarm ever had the chance. For a second, I lay there, eyes half-closed, listening, the quiet hum of the fridge, distant city noise filtering through the window and the unmistakable sound of someone in the kitchen.Eliana. It had to be.I shoved off the covers and padded barefoot into the hallway, tugging my oversized T-shirt down my thighs. But the moment I turned the corner into the kitchen, my pulse stuttered to a halt.It wasn’t Eliana.Dominic.Sitting at the island, legs casually crossed, drinking orange juice straight from a glass like this was his damn apartment. Like breaking in was just part of his morning routine.“What. The. Fuck.” My voice was sharp, groggy but laced with fury. “Are you insane? How did you even?”“Your friend has terrible locks.” He set the glass down with quiet precision, completely unfazed by my glare.“Dominic.” I bit his name like a curse. “You cannot just-”“I can. A

PCHAPTER 25: Giovanni's POV The bass pulsed low beneath the marble floors, the rhythmic thud of music vibrating through the bones of the building. I barely heard it.From the private balcony above the main floor, I watched the bodies moving below, shadows, noise, power games disguised as fun. My sanctuary. My territory. My rules. But tonight, none of it settled the storm clawing under my skin.Dominic Belluci was in my city. The moment my men reported his arrival, my patience snapped. It was only a matter of time before the Belluci family crept into Los Angeles, but Dominic? The good brother. The diplomatic one. The dangerous one.My eyes scanned the floor as Lorenzo approached, his expression unreadable, but the tension in his jaw gave him away.“He’s downstairs,” Lorenzo said. “Alone.”A faint smirk curved my lips as I rolled the tension from my shoulders. “Good. Let’s not keep him waiting.”***************The private lounge was empty, save for Dominic Belluci seated

CHAPTER 24: Mirabella's POV The knock was firm. Calculated. Not the kind of frantic pounding that screamed danger, but the kind that made my pulse skip all the same.I wiped my damp palms on my jeans, still rattled from the night at the restaurant. Giovanni’s voice echoed in my head, his eyes, that suffocating tension still coiled around me like invisible rope.“Who is it?” I called softly from the kitchen, glancing at Eliana, who peeked through the peephole.“Tall. Dangerous. Pretty sure he could break the door with his pinky,” Eliana muttered. “Want me to grab the bat?”I shook my head, forcing my legs to move.I cracked the door open and the breath whooshed from my lungs.“Dominic?”My older brother stood there in a fitted black jacket, shirt open at the collar, cool blue eyes scanning my face like he hadn’t seen me in years. His dark hair was slicked back, a small crease between his brows the only sign of tension. For a second, I froze, my brain scrambling to process s
