Chapter 3

Author: Triple Threat
The nurses quickly pushed me away from her, putting a muzzle on her to silence her while dragging her into the infirmary in our mansion.

"Stop! Let go!" I screamed. "Don't scare her!"

No one listened, as all of them bought into May's diagnosis that Nana was a sociopath.

Giving me looks of sympathy, they told me I was emotionally unstable and dragged me out of the room.

Then, they started telling me that Nana was crazy, and that May must sedate her.

In under ten minutes, Josh arrived home.

May was dashing past me, bawling her eyes red as she threw herself into his arms, sniffling, "Nana had an episode and showed signs of self-harm… I had no choice but to increase her dose of sedatives, but it was too much and stopped her heart—you won't blame me, right?"

Josh looked anguished as he held her tightly in his arms. "No, I'd never blame you. You've done what a doctor should do… If anyone's to blame, it's Holly for giving Nana her mental illness. She killed Nana."

His accusation sliced through me better than any sword would have.

I didn't remember much else, only Nana's funeral.

My parents threatened to disown me for being an embarrassment.

My mother-in-law slapped me repeatedly, telling me to die in Nana's stead.

May was hiding in Josh's arms the whole time, looking mournful with a smug smile… just like now, as she smiled at me.

"I know you'd blame me in hindsight, but it was an emergency, and I had to make a professional decision. Surely you understand?"

I squeezed the ring I was holding as I looked up at her for the first time. "Yes. Continue."

May frowned for once, probably not expecting me to be calm.

Still, she soon smiled again.

"Actually, that's all… Wait!"

She gasped as if she just remembered something and gave Josh an innocent look as she asked, "Josh, do you remember the consent forms Holly signed when the cops asked questions? Shouldn't we show it to Holly—"

"May!" Josh snapped, cutting her short as his face dropped. "It's been so long! Why would you talk about that?!"

He then turned to me with a chagrined smile and explained, "It was an emergency, and you were distraught. I had no choice… Nana's dead anyway, and the living have to move on, right?"

I stared at him in disbelief as I trembled all over.

What consent forms?! I never signed any!

Josh must have fabricated it to cover up May's malpractice!

So that was why they quickly buried Nana, why they didn't let me see Nana one last time, or why she never visited me in my dreams after she died!

Caught in absolute agony and unable to speak, May smiled triumphantly behind a flustered Josh.

Still, she soon clasped her mouth as if realizing her mistake. "Oh, silly me! What am I saying… That being said—"

Walking up to me and dropping to a crouch, she spoke just loud enough for both of us to hear. "In the end, you're the one who has the most to confess. I'd be really worried no one noticed my good work, but you had to take her outside.

"That allowed me to bring her a taxidermied specimen that gave her arrhythmia. Heck, do you know what she was crying when I injected her?

"She cried, 'Mommy, help me…'"

A deathly silence ensued as I stared blankly at May's lips, a soulless marionette.

Seeing that, she pursed her lips, quickly getting bored. "Alright, the confession therapy session is over. Let's give Holly time to gather her thoughts. Time to go, everyone."

With those words, she turned, ready to leave.

I slowly and quietly stood up and called out, "Wait."

Then, whipping out my phone to reveal the livestream on the screen, I said clearly without a hint of irony, "The game of confession is over. Now, the game of judgment has begun!"

Even as May recounted the past, her smile was clearly taunting me for being such a fool. But fortunately for me, I stopped loving Josh the moment Nana died. And right now, the man in question was almost having a nervous breakdown. "Shut up! Don't you dare tell her! Have I not been good enough to you—"Bang!"Argh!!!"Josh screamed as I shot him in the leg, sending him crashing painfully to the floor.Writhing in agony, he curled up over a puddle of his own blood.Still, the screams lasted for only three seconds as the deathly silence soon returned. My eyes as cold as ice, I glared at Josh. "I told you to pipe down."Then, I pointed my gun at May. "And? You were saying?"The silence in the room persisted, until May eventually spoke in a quivering voice. "Josh was already sick of being the perfect man less than a year after you married him. He told me himself that once you had a son, he'd divorce you and marry me, but you had to give birth to a useless daughter instead."Pau

I simply raised a brow and trained my gun at May's arm.Bang! The deafening gunshot was soon followed by May screaming at the top of her lungs, with the bullet tearing through her white suit with deadly precision, blowing a scarlet gush out of her shoulder.May stumbled backward and her back struck the cold wall, while the rest of the room erupted in screams.I remained impassive as I wiped the blood off my cheek and brandished my gun at Josh. "Can you get down on your knees now?"His legs were already wobbly, and he dropped to his knees with a thud while screaming in terror, "Yes! See? I'm doing it! Please don't kill me!"He then crawled toward me on his knees, his hands that were going to strangle me not two seconds ago now enthusiastically hugging my leg as he bawled, "I'm so sorry, Holly! I was deceived! I'm a real piece of work!"But what happened to Nana was all May's doing, not mine! She said that Nana had mental issues that couldn't be cured and was suffering everyday… T

On top of that, she was just a child and so well-behaved, but her own father…Shaking, I growled, "You will pay for Nana's death, Josh—"Bang!Pushed violently, I crashed into a table and dropped my phone.I turned to find May already behind me, her hands still outstretched after she pushed me.As for Josh, his face darkened the first time I said 'you knew', and he didn't even look at me as he picked up my phone.Smiling into the camera, he said nonchalantly, "Sorry, everyone. My wife has mental issues, and it was just a show to calm her down. We didn't mean to waste the public's time, so sorry about that."Turning it off, he breathed a long sigh in relief as he turned toward me with a strange smile. "I didn't want to do this, especially since we've been married for so long and you even gave me a child. Sure, you had to have a daughter, but you're young, so you can just have another."Suddenly, his face contorted with savagery as he continued, "But you didn't know your place an

May's face turned deathly pale as she grabbed Josh's arms, her nails digging into his flesh as she cried, "Josh! What should we do?!"Josh was on his feet too—he had no idea what May had told me, but he knew that his company's value would drop if news of this got out."Have you lost your mind, Holly?!" he yelled at me. "May is so considerate of your grief that she invited everyone to play this game with you! And instead of acknowledging her goodwill, you'd livestream it?! What, do you want everyone to see your crazy antics?! Turn it off right now!""My crazy antics?" I laughed so hard my tears almost burst out. "But if I am crazy, do you think I'd care how I look?"Then, turning the camera sharply at May, I leaned my head cheekily to the side as Nana always did. "Why don't you guess how many people heard what you said, May?""Argh!"Seeing the coldness in my eyes, May screamed as she scrambled to hide her face under the tablecloth. "Josh, get her phone! Do you want your company t
