Celeste

The only source of light in the concubine quarters came from the full moon.

The hallway was mostly empty.

I covered my face with the hood of my cloak.

My footsteps were quiet as I moved through the field.

It was late, and it looked like most of them had retired to bed.

As I continued on, I noticed another opened gate

Just as I was about to walk through, a guard appeared.

“Who are you?” He demanded.

I rolled my eyes, and took off my hood.

His eyes widened when he saw my face, and realized who I was, and he immediately let me pass.

This place was an even more elegant quarters than the one behind.

With taller buildings.

I turned to the guard, and asked. “Whose quarters is this?”

“Quarters of Lady Gloria and Lady Anabette.”

It was obvious whose was which.

Anabette’s quarters was decorated with potted plants, and flowers while Gloria's was sharp, and had barely any decorations.

“Interesting.” I mused.

“You're dismissed. Tell nobody I was here,” I said and he nodded, and disappe

CELESTEEdgar looked visibly strained. I was half-sure he was trying to process what I had just said to him, and whether it was true.“I…I am glad that you did.” He said, quickly clearing his throat and taking his seat.I smiled again, this time it was genuine. The only difference was that it wasn’t a smile of pleasantness but of victory.I knew it was ridiculous, but these small victories against Edgar were the only things keeping me sane in this hellhole. Sure, it had only been three days since I had been married to him, but it felt like an eternity.“Did you enjoy the show?” he asked after waving a servant over to dish out our meals and pour the wines.“It was most pleasant, thank you for taking me. Looking forward to more…shows.” I said, a plastic smile on my face.By the gods and goddesses. I was becoming like the concubines of this palace, and it disgusted me. I was not catty.Curse you, Edgar!I thought, the smile still plastered on my face.“Really?” Edgar asked, his eyes slig

CELESTE “Sorry to interrupt, your majesty, but his majesty requests your presence.”Sylvester said as soon as I stepped out.“Any clue why?” I asked, already walking past him. He joined me a second late.“No. He didn't say.” He shook his head.We made our way through the corridor, momentarily shoving my worries to the back of my headI paused when I saw a familiar woman with her back to me.“Is that Gloria?” I asked, and Sylvester nodded.“Yes, ma'am.”“When did she come back?” I questioned, feeling a weird pressure against my chest as I stared at her.She turned as if she could feel my eyes on her and smiled, a venom like smile that would pierce my skin if I was as ordinary as she was.“Today. She arrived today.” Sylvester answered.“What is she doing here?” I whispered. “She was suspended for two weeks wasn't she?”“She isn't back. She is here with her father, the Duke of West Haven,.to see his majesty.” probably to beg for Edgar to reconsider.Damnit, how was I supposed to search

Celeste “What is going on here?” I looked to Sylvester for answers as we strolled down the hall to the dining room. The entire palace was bustling with workers. Half decorations hung all over the palace pillars. “Preparation for the sun god.” I stopped in my tracks, making Selene stop immediately. “You celebrate that?” Sylvester nodded. “Every year. “Why is the sun God being celebrated in a majority Lycan, werewolf kingdom?” I asked. “His majesty enjoys the festival.” He said simply, and I shook my head. Everything I learnt about the northern kingdom had my mind spiraling. I was definitely not superstitious, but there were just some things that were not to be done. The feast of the sun God was frowned upon by the majority of the Lycan kingdoms. Only elves celebrated this holiday. “Does his majesty know in many texts that Capril was responsible for the death of the moon goddess?” I asked, looking between Selene and Sylvester. “His majesty doesn’t particularly care.” “Of cou

CELESTE“So, how did dinner go, Milady?” Selene asked as soon as I got back to my chambers.“Odd.” I murmured, glancing at her, “Edgar seemed disturbed by something.”“Any idea what?” she asked as she handed me a steaming cup of tea.I offered a smile. It was just what I needed to calm my system after that odd encounter with Edgar. His anger had been so unwarranted. Was it a secret I thought he was a monster? I was certain I had told him those same words every day since I had been here, and I hadn’t even spent a week.“He wouldn’t say.” I sat on my love seat and took a sip of my Darjeeling tea, savoring the sweet floral scent.Selene sat beside me, grabbing a cup of tea of her own and taking a small sip.“All I know is that he was upset, and he walked out on me for calling his actions barbaric when usually he would laugh it off, or at least I think that was part of the reason.”“I see.” Selene nodded“So, I guess the seduction would have to wait?”“Possibly. I cannot say I am upset ab
