The morning after felt heavier, as though the air itself remembered what had happened. I woke before dawn, my eyes snapping open to the faint sound of rain against the windows. The sheets were tangled around my legs, damp with sweat. For a moment, I didn’t know where I was. The room seemed too still, too quiet. Then I remembered. His voice. That single command that had slid into my mind like silk and steel at once.

I rose slowly, the world still tilting somewhere between dream and reality. The mirror caught my reflection as I passed. My skin looked pale, almost translucent. My eyes were shadowed, haunted.
