BALQIS'S POV
I wasn't a normal person again. It feels like my life has been stole from me after we left the orthodontist. Everything I do, my mind was only on one person. That same person was always in my dream, haunting me with beautiful scenes that I can never imagine to have in real life. If there's anything I regret in my entire life, then it was the day I walked with my two legs to Adonai's home. I have to deal with not only the preheat and my commanding family, but now with the trauma that he's alive or maybe a look alike? The man that I saw at the doctor's place was Adonai no doubt about him. I thought I had forgotten his face, or maybe I mistook it, but it's him. Adonai is alive, and not dead. But why is he finding me stealthily? I really wanted to clutch his dress and ask him countless questions, demand the reason why he was alive, but he disappeared on me again. "Don't try to find that man, it might put yours and your baby's life in danger" That was what the doctor told me when I asked him how he knew Adonai. For the days after, my life was never thesame because I couldn't understand anything anymore. It feels like I was loosing myself. I even went to the club, but he doesn't appear again and this only added to my trepidation. After two weeks, which marked seven months of my pregnancy, I asked my stepmom for my income again and this time, she lied that she hasn't collated the accounts. I waited for two days, expecting her to collate the accounts but she said nothing. I thought, looking at the account book myself will do, instead if waiting till forever. I pretended that I was sleeping so she could go to the club alone that evening. When she was gone, I stealthily went to her room. Thankfully, I'm the one that does all house chores, even when Nirvana was still here, so no one could rat me out. It took nothing less than thirty minutes until I successfully sashayed through her closet ans got the account book. I hesitated for a while, what if I don't meet what I was expecting? But then, on the second thoughts, seeing is believing so I opened the book and flip the pages through the past year and months earning. My heart sank, goosebumps of shock and petrification licked my skin, and I felt like I just arrived from hell. I'd flipped the book to this year's earning and what I'm seeing right here, is dar from what I was expecting.. "This cannot be true right?" I asked myself aloud, and flipped the pages again, maybe what I was looking for was at the back page, but to my surprise, I saw nothing. "This is not true, right!!!?" I asked myself again, trying to calm myself that I must have seen it wrong. "No. No." I denied it. I must have picked the wrong book so I rushed to the closet again, and scattered everything there but found unnecessary books and not another account book like I was expecting. I ran madly through my heavy condition to the living room and fell down, ignoring the pain. All my suffering, All the forced laughter, All the dancing through heavy time, All the pain I endured whenever my baby was kicking during a show — is all gone. Gone— Gone to where? Because nothing was written in the account books!! Just dates and empty log rows and columns!! I yelled with pain. "No! No!" I kept assuring myself and got off the floor to get dressed. Perhaps, she was writing this year's earning in another book. I dressed hastily, take the account book with me, and flagged a cab to the club. Arriving there, she was standing at the bar counting and counting cash again, and I ignored the hungry men that jeered at me. "My favorite pregnant stripper, why not on the pole tonight?" I stood before her and knocked at the table to gain her attention. She looked up at me, "Oh you're here? Could you please supervise the guys at the store? Let them bring 5 packs of..." "Mum I need to ask you something" I demanded. "Get the pack of beers first, Balqis" she yelled over the blaring sound from the DJ. Only if she knew shocked I am right now. I dashed to her side and took her hand, "Come with me" I managed to pull her to another side and pulled out the log book from the bag I was carrying. She gasped and snatched the book from me, "What have you be doing behind my back, Balqis?" "Where are my earnings, Mum?" I asked not minding her fake innocent gasp. "I'm asking where did you get this from? Who gave your the right to open my room?" She yelled harshly. Seeing her reactions like this only mean one thing — she doesn't want me to see whatever that was inside! "Mum!!" I yelled. "Where are my earnings?" She doesn't answer me for a while, she stared at me deeply, for a long time as if contemplating whether to tell me or not. "Have you opened this book?" She asked. I arched a brow, "Mum!! that's not what I'm asking" Her once relaxed tobe changed to something else— wicked and sarcastic as she replied, "If you've opened it, then that means you've walked to your grave yourself, my child" I was more confused, her mean words, irritating me more than I ever want. She flipped the book opened and stopped at the blank page that sent my head reeling. "Exactly what you saw, my dear. You haven't earned a dime!" she spat maliciously, — a word that made me feel as if a hammer was stabbed on my head. "Mu... Mum?" I asked through the tears that chocked my throat. "What are you...." "I didn't send you to get pregnant? The contract you signed was that you sleep with men and we share the profit!" She annouced again. "What?" She closed the book and patted my shoulder, "Another man paid for tonight, get ready to sleep with them to earn"BALQIS'S POV I wasn't a normal person again. THIRD PERSON POV He ran until his legs almost gave way. As he ran through the woods behind the Orthodox hospital, the wind pulled off the wig he had on, and the long golden hair was revealed. His tall frame, which made him look unrecognizable, was the result of the outfit he had on, pulled off more than he had. He got a lush patch of field and fell. His chest heaved heavily with sadness, and a little trace of tears appeared near his eyes, but he pushed it back with all the power he had."Why did I go there?" He questioned himself as his chest was still heaving bitterly. Still there, A Ferrari Masterati Sports car sped up beside him from the tarred road beside, and another man came out and rushed to him. "Gamma, are you fine?" The concerned fellow tried pulling him up. Gamma Adonai refused to bulge, as he ran his hand through his hair harshly, and for the first time since Alpha King Elon (Nirvana's husband) knew Adonai, who was his best friend, he saw him cry. Elon quickly pulled
BALQIS’S POVMy eyes flung open at the ring of the bell against my ear.The lights are on again, and the first person I saw was the doctor, who carried a small bell. “Seems like she’s coming back to life,” he said, then rang the bell again. I guess this is all it takes to bring me back from the realm of darkness that I’d suddenly wandered into. “Balqis?” I heard Mrs Kathy’s voice, and I slowly turned my head. She was also beside me, with Nirvana and a few of the other strippers. “Can you see me now?” I tried talking, but I couldn't see her, and my voice seemed to be buried away. The doctor leaned away, “She’s really a strong kid. No one has ever game back after being bitten by a Gamma revenant.” “Gamma revenant?” Mrs. Kathy asked in my stead, and the doctor nodded. He faced me and examined my neck, and pressed on a particular spot that sent chills down my spine. I whined. The memory of the man biting me with fangs juggle,d in and I groaned. ‘Rina?’ I called out to my wolf at t
BALQIS'S POV I turned around, "Wait, what?" His voice was frank and straightforward, like he wasn't asking for my opinion. He continued. "I brought a lot of money and I....." "Did you take me for a prostitute?" I cut his words short. Anger boiling from the depths of my heart. "Are you blind to even see that I'm pregnant right now?" "Okay then," he turned to leave. I was taken aback again. What the fuck is going on with men tonight? Stomping, I moved to the bar and joined Mrs Kathy while Nirvana continued to lead the dance. My stepmom was still busy counting her money and instructing the barmen, unaware of my presence until I spoke. "Nirv could have led the dance.. She turned her head this time. "Oh, you're here?" "...but why did you insist that I must do it?" My heart was slamming against my ribs in anger by now, and my fists clenched. "You.... You're not scolding me right now... Balqis?" "Answer me, Mum! Why did you insist I lead the dance tonight and wear a
Balqis's POV I danced like there's no tomorrow again tonight. Nirvana was behind me, backing each dance up and was wearing a mask like me. All these while, the whole crowd was cheering, the man sitting in the deep corner of the parlour wasn't reacting. I wondered what kind of man he was. However, after two hours, my body has stared to become giddy and reluctant to heed to my response. My mask only concealed my identity but never my pregnancy and I could hear some men already whispering how a pregnant dancer could still perform this well. When I felt I can't take it anymore, I stumbled out of the dancefloor, coughing and clutching my chest. My throat has tightened up, as if air couldn't come in, I'd danced too much as which this heavy pregnancy....Mrs Kathy opened the door to the background urgently and rushed to me. "What happened to you, Bally? Are you fine?" I continued coughing, as my heart and my chest needed more air. She fanned me despite the Air conditioning, and manage
Balqis’s POV. I put on the earring and smeared my face with foundation despite the strings of hot tears cascading. I have to dance if I were to survive. Adonai’s funeral was held three days ago, but I couldn’t even move an inch. Only Nirvana and her mum could attend. Julius came by our home just once, to say hello, but I couldn’t bring myself to face him. How on earth should I tell him that his dead friend whom I sinned with was the father of my unborn pup? ‘Yes. This might be for the best’ I agreed with myself and stepped out of the dressing room to the lobby of the club, sadly. Funny how things turned out this way. I had refused to get an abortion; the thought of killing an innocent life, just lost its father, haunted me so much that I couldn’t sleep. Nirvana offered to arrange for me to meet Adonai’s family and tell him of the pregnancy. But we discovered from Julius, who came around yesterday, that his mate (Adonai’s) also attended his funeral. His mate atten
