Chapter 31 Making Allies

“Hello?” Ethan spoke louder.

Marlyn was startled to hear a man’s voice answering his best friend Lexy’s phone. He stopped blabbering and spoke to the person on the other line with extreme anxiousness and hesitations. He moved the phone away from his ear and checked on its screen.

“Did I dial a wrong number?” Marlyn murmured.

Yet, his words reached Ethan’s ears without difficulty. But as if Ethan did not hear anything, he continued.

“Hello?” Ethan said.

Marlyn confirmed he dialed the right number, but he heard a manly voice speaking on the line, confirming his doubts that he had heard a voice different from his best friend’s. Marlyn’s fear magnified.

“Uhhhhmmm… Hi!” Marlyn summoned his courage.

“Who are you?” Ethan asked with an icy cold, stern tone. He could not deny the fact that he was too upset toward this caller with a name that seemed too intimate for Ethan on his Baby Girl’s phone book list.
