Chapter 7

Author: Cat Video Fan
'This is the place!'

It was an old building covered in withered vines.

At the sight of the doorplate which felt both familiar and unfamiliar to him, Andy's heart stirred with excitement.

He did not waste a single second.

He fought his way through hundreds of zombies and reached this place in just five minutes.

His combat suit was caked in dried, sticky blood.

His leather boots were smeared with bits of flesh.

He had changed his weapon from the broken fire axe to the severed spine of the Licker.

Since Andy fought his way through blood and carnage, he looked like a monster that had crawled out of a pile of corpses.

"Jason! Shirley!"

Andy didn't stop. He rushed into the building, ignoring the zombie horde outside.

He kept calling out to Jason and Shirley.

"Andy!"

Huddled in a corner of the room, Shirley's face lit up with surprise when she heard Andy.

She jumped up and peeked out the window, afraid that she might have heard wrong.

"I'm over here!"

Shirley leaned out of the window and waved, her eyes filled with hope.

Outside the door, the zombies grew increasingly restless, attracted to Andy's living presence.

Andy immediately looked up when he heard Shirley's voice.

On the chair inside the room, Jason suddenly broke free from his bindings.

His wrists, now thinner after the flesh had been rubbed off, were no longer restrained by chains.

The metallic chains fell to the ground with a clatter.

But with the zombies howling, Shirley didn't notice.

The room was dim.

A pair of savage, bloodshot eyes suddenly appeared behind her.

Andy's pupils constricted to dangerous pinpricks.

Burst of Strength!

He activated his Awakened Talent once again.

Disregarding the massive strain from activating his Talent in quick succession, Andy stirred the power within him.

Charge forward!

Swftt!

The Licker's sharp spine pierced right through the zombie at the door, pinning it to the doorframe like a kebab.

Faster!

Faster!

Andy roared in his mind, swinging his right fist with all his might.

Boom!

He broke open the door with brute force.

The thick metal door screeched as it twisted and broke.

Inside the room, Shirley grabbed her throat weakly, blood oozing through her fingers.

"Jason... Jason?"

Her lips moved, but no sound came out.

Jason's grotesque, rotting face showed no sign of reason. A thin trickle of blood hung at the corner of his mouth.

He prepared to bite again.

"Jason!"

Andy roared.

His muscles tore.

His already maxed-out speed got even faster.

Jason twitched at the cry, a flicker of confusion in his eyes.

The mouth that was about to bite again froze in place.

Boom!

In half a second, Andy burst into the room, slammed into Jason, and knocked him away from Shirley.

Behind Jason, the wall cracked, dust falling down.

Zombies were different from ordinary humans.

Even though Jason had not completely transformed, the virus had made his body much stronger than that of a normal person.

If he were an ordinary human, he would have been immobilized after taking a hit from Andy, even if Andy had held back.

But not Jason.

After being paralyzed for a brief moment, his eyes turned crimson again, filled with a craving for flesh and blood.

Growl!

Andy firmly pinned him down to prevent him from harming Shirley.

Jason struggled to break free, but he could only move his head because his body was restrained by Andy.

Low growls came from the depths of his throat like he was a feral beast.

His once-strong, handsome face was now covered in rotting flesh.

The zombie virus had eaten away at his skin.

Andy's eyes were full of pain.

He had already checked on Shirley. She was okay for now, but since Jason had wounded her throat, she would also get infected with the virus.

Roundhouse kick!Andy focused his strength in his leg and turned to kick a nearby zombie. It was a standard military combat kick.Bang! The zombie, its mouth stuffed with flesh, barely reacted before being sent flying like a cannonball towards the roll-up door.Flesh collided with metal, producing a jarring sound. The nearby wandering zombies turned their heads, drawn by the scent of blood, like sharks sensing a feast."Get inside!"Bang!Andy violently kicked the door, smashing the upper half of the zombie together with the door.Janet followed up, wielding her axe awkwardly as she chopped off the head of the last zombie. On the second floor of the flower shop, a middle-aged woman peered out from behind the window, her face a mixture of shock and joy.Thud, thud, thud. The short, plump middle-aged woman hurried down the stairs, her hands constantly wiping against the old gardening apron she wore."Oh thank heaven! I thought I was going to die here! Oh God, thank you for

"Are there any survivors left in Linden?"This intersection was the only route out of Linden. If this path was blocked and so many people had died here, it meant no one could leave the city anymore.Janet asked Andy with a hint of despair in her voice. Although all players were forcibly fed information about the apocalypse game after it began, knowing and witnessing were two different matters. She thought they would only have to fight zombies like in the movies, but after seeing tens of thousands of corpses piled into a mountain, she suddenly realized that this world might not be so simple."Yes."Andy paused for a moment before giving a brief reply. There were at least two million survivors left in Linden. However, this wasn't necessarily a good thing, as it meant that in a week, there would be a million more zombies in Linden. He knew what Janet was really asking. She likely still had friends or family in the city.Janet opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but ultima

An hour later, Andy abruptly slammed the brakes, and the motorcycle slid to a stop. His expression was heavy. Not far away, a mound of corpses loomed at the city entrance, oddly surrounded by no zombies.Janet woke up, her eyes still drowsy.Andy had suddenly stopped without a word, causing her chin to collide with his back, and it hurt quite a bit."Ugh... that hurts."'Why is his body so hard?'Is he made of stone?'Janet couldn't help but complain in her mind, feeling that he really had no sense of chivalry.Andy glanced back slightly. He felt nothing. His Constitution was now as high as 14.4, so a collision like that was nothing to him. If an ordinary person were to attack him with a cold weapon, they wouldn't even be able to pierce his skin without making prior preparations. The scene before him was quite bizarre. He activated the Eye of Judgment without hesitation to scan the area.A large number of humans had died there, their bodies piled up into a mound of corpses

Andy paid no mind to Janet's astonishment. If she knew that after exceeding the limit of 10, each point of Strength gained was equal to a 30% increase, she would probably be even more shocked."There should be a buff to your stats too. Consider this a benefit of joining my team. You can check it yourself."Hearing that, Janet quickly opened her player panel. She looked pleasantly surprised. Then, she paused when she saw (Savior Team Member) in her panel.Savior?Janet was puzzled. That title seemed to carry special significance. However, since Andy didn't offer an explanation, she didn't dare to ask.Andy's already mysterious image took on an added layer of intrigue in her eyes.It seemed she had stumbled upon an extraordinary existence."Get on the bike."Andy said indifferently without looking back.Janet came back to her senses and followed obediently behind him.Andy straddled the motorcycle.Janet looked at Andy's back uncertainly before she sat down behind him.Vro

Andy turned back upon hearing that, only to realize that he had pulled ahead by nearly a hundred meters.-While waiting for Janet, Andy suppressed the joy in his heart and quickly adjusted his mentality.Although he really wanted to get the team quest rewards, his top priority was to get stronger and kill the Stitcher to save Jason and Shirley. These two were not just the only people he cared about, but also people he could trust.Jason was a scout, and his base stats were much higher than those of an ordinary person. If he could become an Awakened in the future, he would be a great help to Andy.Although the team quest seemed simple, Andy didn't plan to just recruit anyone. The number of team members was limited, although it appeared that increasing the team level would increase the capacity. But anyone who joined the team would get a buff, and members could not be changed.Naturally, he had to select carefully.Jason, Shirley, Janet. Two more to go.Andy pondered, quick
