"Is that who I think it is?" Aiden exclaimed, seeing Chief Justice Edward Roberts walking up to them.

Lucas had purposely invited the judge, letting him know in secret that it was his son who had sent him a letter before the trial, and the chief justice was eager to meet Aiden.

"Mister Thompson, is this the young boy who sent me packs of Twix?" Mister Roberts inquired. The judge looked elegant in his suit and tie. Despite being in his fifties, he appeared vibrant. The manner in which he conducted himself left everyone with the impression of a man with a significant and influential background.

Aiden smiled brightly. He said, "Yes, Chief Justice Roberts. That would be me."

The judge shook his head. He laughed at Lucas, saying, "Mister Thompson, you have quite a son. I have never had a child plead for faster justice by paying me off with Twix."

"Um. We are sorry about that, Judge Roberts. My son just wanted to help," Lucas described.
