Mag-log inTessa
Logan's wish to sleep in separate bedrooms was the last nail on my pride, it wasn't only heartbreaking but also humiliating because he wanted to avoid any possible proximity between us,
I agreed to move out of our bedroom last night. I cleaned the small bedroom where I decided to stay for the remaining days, kept thinking about my future for the most of the night after that and didn't realize that I slept on the sofa causing me a backache when I woke up.
Once I signed the divorce papers, I'd be left with nothing. So, I applied for job in different companies.
But at the same time, it wasn't easier because it had been over four years since I quit my last job and chose to devote my time to my family.
"Mommy!" A frightened Lucas ran inside and hugged me.
"What happened, baby?" I got panicked and hugged him back.
"You were not in your room. I searched you everywhere and you are here in guestroom. Why were you not in Dad's room?" He sobbed and looked at me with sadness.
I bit my inner mouth. How could I lie to an innocent soul?
"I was having back ache on the mattress in our room so I thought a change of place might help." I lied through my teeth,
He blinked his big eyes at me. He still didn't look convinced,
"You won't leave me and Dad, right?" He asked me the question I had been dreading to hear from him.
"No, I am not leaving you. Don't think too much. Come, let me help you to get ready for school." I tried to divert the subject and led him back to his room.
It seemed it was getting more difficult for me to keep lying to Lucas.
No sooner I sent Lucas to his kindergarten, I received a call from my uncle and he ordered me to come to their house.
I had to be prepared for another round of drama at their house but I had no other choice because I didn't want them to come to my house and create unnecessary drama at my house and humiliate me in front of my house staff.
“Why are you not leaving Logan’s life already, you ungrateful brat?”
My aunt’s shrill voice bled my eardrums and I spotted the Cowper family present in the living room, sitting on the sofa so comfortably like they owned the place, it was my parents' house, Once, I used to live a very happy life but it was a long, forgotten memory.
"Auntie, please, keep your voice down because I am not here to take your insults." I said in a firm voice and in the next moment, a hard slap from her stung my cheek.
The intensity caused me to stumble and my elbow hit the corner of a table. It hurt but I didn’t show it on my face.
"How dare you to order me! You have stolen my daughter's place but not anymore. I want you to leave so Logan can marry Ray sooner. My daughter has suffered enough." Susan hissed in anger.
Raelynn was soaking in tears. Her eyes shone when she watched her mother unleashing her hatred upon me.
I scanned her from tip to toe. Her body was smooth, flawless and there was no sign of living a struggling life. It seemed like she walked out of a salon, her hairs looked shiny.
Only her parents and Logan could believe her snobby story. I couldn’t forget the moment I caught her talking to her ex-boyfriend in hospital alley and how they were frightened when they thought I’d tell everyone.
“But you lied to my son. He deserves to know that I am his mother, not an imposter like you, Tessa. You manipulated my son against me. He doesn’t remember me.” Raelynn wailed.
“He was just a toddler when you disappeared, Ray. How can you expect him to remember you? And don’t you ever question my love for him. I treated him just like I would have loved my own child.” I reminded her.
She was only talking in absurdity.
"Tessa, I called you here because I need you to sign the divorce papers and leave Logan Wilfed." My uncle said in a serious tone and rose from his chair, “I let you marry him when my daughter wasn’t here, it was a favour but don’t get used to it. It was never your place.”
I chuckled humourlessly.
“You did a favour on me?” I laughed, “You treated me just as a pawn to establish links with the Wilferds for your own advantage, Uncle. I was just a liability for you and marrying me off to your daughter’s fiancé was an easier way to get rid of me.”
My response made him even more furious.
“Don’t forget that if it wasn’t me and your aunt, you’d be a poor orphan rotting God knows where. So, be grateful and do as I say. You must divorce Logan as soon as possible.”
"It doesn't sound good from your mouth. Both you and I know that you can never be satisfied even after seizing my father's wealth. You and your family have been living on the hard work’s fruit left by my parents. So, be grateful and stop meddling in my life." I retorted back at him.
The girl who used to respect and fear him was gone. I had nothing to lose anymore.
I was just a burden imposed upon them by my father who trusted his sister and her husband. They became my guardian. They slowly took everything under their power, leaving me with nothing but on their charity until I married Logan.
“Tessa, how could you be so mean to us? I don’t want you in Logan’s life anymore. You stole him from me four years ago and now my son.” Raelynn scoffed.
“Logan already gave me two weeks and I’ll only leave when these fourteen days will be over. I do not you and your family to bring this subject again because it won’t change anything.” I said with finality in my voice.
“You’ll regret being this stubborn. Live this luxurious life for another few days because once the title of ‘Mrs. Wilferd’ will be stripped off, you’ll be nothing but a rat in the streets.” My uncle smirked.
His derogative remark cut deeper through my heart.
“Don't worry, Uncle. Even if I'd have to beg on the streets, I won't come to you and please, forget about the idea of threatening me again because it won't work on me anymore. I was never after their wealth and when I am leaving, I won't take a penny from Logan." I said firmly.
He shot me a glare.
They looked ready to kill me.
“It was a warm homecoming..” I said in a mocking tone and was about to leave when my phone rang.
With trembling hands. It was from Lucas' nanny, I put it near against my ear.
“Hello?” I frowned because I could see hushed voices from other side.
“Hello, Mrs. Wilferd. It's about Lucas! We picked him from the school and when we stopped by the bakery to buy him the cookies he wanted, he just slipped out of the car. We have searched everywhere but he isn’t anywhere in the neighbourhood. We’re scared.” I heard the nanny sobbing on the phone and my blood ran cold.
Lucas was missing.
Tessa“Do you need any help, love?”“No, it’s almost done. Please, go and check if the kids are still clean. Everyone must be coming. Go hurry up.” I tilted my head slightly to glance at my husband while grilling fish. The spicy smoke filled the kitchen.“The kids are clean and busy among themselves, besides, Lucas can take care of his younger siblings. I would rather take care of my pretty wife here.” He said and dabbed my sweaty face with towel.“You helped me to cook half of the food, Logan. Please, go and shower. I’ll be finish in ten minutes.” I smiled. He snaked his arms around my waist from behind and nuzzled his nose in the crook of my neck.“I can wait so we’ll shower together to save time and water, Mrs. Wilferd.” He whispered. My stomach flipped but I slowly freed myself from his embrace.“As much as the idea sounds perfectly romantic, I fear we can’t bath together because the we won’t be able to finish it on time and our guests are on their way here.” I pecked his cheek.H
[ Logan ]“Logan, what brings you at my home early in the morning? Is everything okay?”“Yes, kids and Tessa are good since our biggest threat is behind the bars now. Can we sit first, Mr. Mcnight?”“Oh, please, take a seat. I’ll ask the maid to prepare coffee for us.” He smiled.I sat down comfortably.Adrian, whom I visited early in the morning was still in his nightrobe. He looked puzzled to see me at his house, unannounced. He wasn’t prepared. He came back changed into presentable clothes.“Tell me what brings you here at this hour, Logan? I know you. You wouldn’t be wasting your time here if it’s not urgent.” He said taking a sip from his steaming coffee.“Yes, it couldn’t wait so let me cut the chase and come to the point but first I want you to enjoy your last cup of home brewed coffee because in prison, I don’t think you’ll savour this richness.” I sipped my own coffee with leisure but the reaction on his face satisfied me more.“Logan Wilferd, if you are here to argue with me
Logan “You tried to kill my wife and you know the consequences very well, Raelynn. I will make sure you won’ come out of the prison for a long time.” I spoke calmly. The woman sitting in front of me laughed, her face showed no remorse.“Then make sure I won’t come out until my death, Logan because once I leave this fucking hell, I will destroy you and your little world.” She said in a bitter tone.I clenched my fists. It was clear that she wasn’t in her right state of mind and a mental asylum, would be much better place for her.“I am not here to entertain you, Ms. Cowper. I only need the name of the person who is helping you. I want the name.” I said leaning closer. She sat across the table.“You’re a rich and influential man. It’s a child’s play for you to dig the truth. Go and find out yourself.” She laughed again.“You’re right. It might take time but I will find out the truth but trust me, your life is going to be a hell after the trial.” I warned her.“I have nothing to lose, L
Logan“How are you feeling now, love?” I asked Tessa who was awake.“My head feels heavy but other than that I want to go home because I miss my kids.” She replied with a pouted as I fed her chicken and oats porridge.Luckily, the injury wasn’t serious and there were no issues with her brain. The swelling was reducing.“You’ll be discharged tomorrow. So, be patient for one more night.” I said and wiped her lips.“Lena’s birthday should have been memorable but it turned into a bad memory.” Her voice was sad.“Hey, look at me. Why are you feeling stressed? It was Raelynn, the psychopath who did it and now she is under police custody. My lawyers are preparing a serious lawsuit against her.” I told her.She smiled faintly.“I still can’t believe how she entered our house. I am sure someone helped her. Someone close to us who knew the security details.” She said.I narrowed my eyes because her words made sense.“Could it be my sister or mother because they are the only two persons who want
LoganTessa was gone into the house for two long. I waited and smiled at the guests because I didn’t want them to whisper and gossip as it was my daughter’s most special day and I wanted to make it memorable for her.But it took Tessa more than ten minutes. She told me about her mother’s necklace. She kept it in her cupboard.Something inside me nudged me to go and check upon her. Although, we had checked the security many times and guest list was filtered by my security team yet we could be careless, especially when my family had been targeted many times.“Dad, manage the guests and kids here. I am going to check upon Tessa.” I whispered to my father.“Sure, go and get her because Lena is getting impatient.” He said with a nod.I made my way inside the house which was quiet since Tessa called the security guards during the cake cutting. She cared for everyone.“Tess?” I called her but no response came so I directly went to her room where she kept most of her stuffs.I slowly pushed t
Tessa“Happy birthday, my little sunshine.”“Happy birthday, princess.”Both I and Logan kissed our daughter’s hairs as we woke her up. She yawned and then gave us her priceless smile.“Thank you, Mamma, Daddy.” She sat up and crawled on my lap first which surprised me because ever since Logan came back into our lives, she had been her Daddy’s princess.“Mamma, where is my gift?” She asked burying her face on my chest and I affectionately stroked my daughter’s hairs.“You will receive your gift at evening. Be patient, sunshine.” I kissed her cheeks and tickled her.“Mamma, stop.” She laughed and rolled to her father’s lap.“Have you prepared the gifts for your new friends as well?” Logan asked her.In less than a week’s time, she became very popular in her kindergarten and everybody adored her.“Yes, Daddy. I and Mamma wrapped all the gifts last night.” She told him.She still looked sleepy.“Come on, Lenny. Let me give you a bath. Remember, we have to go to church to day to pray.” I
Tessa“Where was your mind when you drove like a senseless drunkard?” I raised my brow at the man who laid on the hospital bed, his right arm wrapped in a splint but the cocky look didn’t falter.“I wasn’t driving recklessly, it happened in a split of second and yes, I was kind of lost.” He said.“
Tessa“Why aren’t you going inside? Don’t tell me that my brother forbade you to see him.” Lea taunted me with a wicked smile but I chose not to react and patiently waited outside Logan’s room for Lucas to come out.I took Lucas to see his father in the morning before school. I decided not to go in
Tessa“Are you done for today?”Adrian’s voice forced me to look up from the final prints of the dresses that we were about to add in our first collection.“I think it’ll take me another couple of hours to complete the review so we can finally work on the dresses.” I responded.“Don’t overexert you
Tessa “Mommy, can you drop me at school today?” Lucas, who was ready to go to school, asked me.Usually, his driver or Logan used to drop him at his school and my routine was to pick him after school but his strange behaviour since the morning worried me. He was clingier, always sticking by my sid
