Goodbye, Mr. Wrong!
Penulis: Faye Murrow

Chapter 1

Penulis: Faye Murrow
Selena Jones cried the entire night.

By the time her daughter Juliet Campbell was about to wake up, Selena had already placed a cold compress over her swollen eyes and gone to the kitchen to make breakfast.

There were housekeepers in the home, but Selena had always insisted on preparing Juliet's breakfast herself.

Juliet was twelve now, and she had heard her parents' argument the night before. When she came downstairs and saw the redness still lingering around her mother's eyes, her heart ached.

She walked straight up to Selena and wrapped her arms around her.

"Mom, don't be sad. Dad did something wrong. You don't have to forgive him."

Selena didn't want her daughter to carry that burden. She smiled faintly and brushed Juliet's hair away from her face.

"Sweetheart, this is between adults. Don't worry about it. Go on, you'll be late for school."

Juliet didn't argue. She finished her breakfast quietly, then let the driver take her to school.

Once the house was empty again, Selena sat down on the sofa in the living room and stared dazedly into space.

She looked exhausted. Her head tilted back slightly, and her long, glossy hair spilled over her bare shoulders, gleaming against her pale skin. The soft knit cardigan draped over her body couldn't hide her graceful curves.

At thirty-six, Selena's skin was flawless, and her face was smooth without a single wrinkle. She had always been the kind of striking, radiant beauty that turned heads wherever she went.

However, she had never taken any of her admirers seriously until Jonathan Campbell came along.

He had chased her relentlessly for two years in college before finally winning her heart. They got married right after graduation, and Juliet was born a year later.

Jonathan came from an influential family. Over the years, he had transformed his company into a tech-driven powerhouse, and his success had only grown.

As a result, Selena had been pampered her whole life, never needing to worry about a single thing. Her life was simple, yet her beauty remained undiminished as she aged, and her elegance and poise only grew more striking with time.

In their social circle, everyone knew her. People often whispered that it was her face and figure that had kept Jonathan devoted to her all these years.

Selena had never imagined that Jonathan would cheat. She stumbled upon the truth by accident when she visited his company and caught sight of him in the underground garage, entangled with another woman in his car.

At that moment, Selena's world collapsed.

After more than a decade of marriage, the happy family she had believed in and the devoted husband she had trusted were nothing but a lie. There he was in the car, eagerly engaging with someone else, leaving Selena completely numb and unable to think.

Later came the excuses, the explanations, and even the irritation when she refused to accept them.

Selena's mind was a blur. She needed someone to talk to.

She changed her clothes and drove to see her best friend, Isabella Young.

When Isabella arrived, she found Selena sitting on the terrace, curled up in a wicker chair. The breeze lifted strands of her dark hair, brushing them across her face. With a delicate motion, Selena tucked them behind her ear, revealing those sharp, luminous features that seemed to glow even through her sorrow.

Isabella had been Selena's friend for years, but no matter how often she saw her, she couldn't help but marvel silently at Selena's beauty.

She pushed her emotions aside and settled into the chair across from Selena. That was when she noticed Selena's eyes were red, and a shadow of sorrow lingered in her expression.

"What happened?"

Selena met Isabella's concerned gaze and forced a wry smile, but her eyes only grew redder, brimming with hurt and sorrow.

"Jonathan cheated on me."

Isabella was silent.

Selena sensed the subtle shift in Isabella's expression, and her stomach sank.

"Bella, you knew already?"

Isabella pressed her lips together. Under Selena's disbelieving stare, her eyes flickered briefly.

"Yes."

"When? Why didn't you tell me?" Selena's voice rose, tense and trembling with emotion.

She had always trusted Isabella completely, and now she felt betrayed that her best friend had kept such a secret from her. People passing nearby started glancing at the raised voices.

Isabella frowned slightly. "Don't look at me like that, Lena. I didn't tell you because I was trying to protect you."

"Protect me? What do you mean? Isabella, my husband cheated on me! How can you even suggest that this is something I should just tolerate, that I could forgive him and go on like nothing happened? You're a lawyer!"

"That has nothing to do with me being a lawyer. It's about you, Selena. Okay, you found out Jonathan cheated. Now what?"

Selena faltered, her expression shifting. She fell silent, as if trying to find the words, unsure what to say.

Isabella answered for her anyway.

"If you don't get a divorce, this will just be like any other fight you've had with him. He'll apologize, maybe buy you an expensive gift, and life will go back to normal. If I'd said anything, I'd only be adding to your stress. But if you really want a divorce... Can you really handle it?

"I know better than anyone what your life has been like all these years. You married Jonathan right after college. You've never held a job. You live in a mansion, have a driver to take you anywhere, and servants to take care of the house. Look at your skin. You spend hundreds of thousands every year on upkeep. You're thirty-six, Selena. If you leave Jonathan, can you even support yourself?

"As your friend, I'll be blunt. Even if you get a divorce, you'll just end up with another rich man supporting you. Another man won't necessarily be better than what you have with Jonathan. And what about Juliet? If you divorce, what happens to her?"

Isabella's words cut deep.

Selena's face shifted through shock, hurt, embarrassment, and finally, sadness.

She sat there silently, staring at Isabella, tears spilling down her cheeks.

"Isabella, I never knew you thought of me as so...useless. Have you always looked down on me?"

Isabella frowned, her denial immediate. "No, I haven't."

Selena only smiled bitterly.

Her perfect husband had cheated on her, and the friend she trusted most had secretly doubted her all along.

What a ridiculous life.

Suddenly, Selena lifted the back of her hand and wiped away her tears. She stood up, ready to leave.

But before leaving, Selena looked at Isabella. She remembered the simple, hardworking girl from a modest background she had met in the dorm on the very first day of college. After graduation, Isabella joined Jonathan's company through her connection with Selena and steadily worked her way up to become the head of the legal department at Campbell Tech.

How much of Isabella's words about protecting her had been sincere, and how much was it because she worked for Jonathan?

Selena didn't want to dwell on it. She simply said, "Thanks for your warning today. I've made up my mind. I'm divorcing Jonathan."

Jonathan looked at Isabella."You can help me? You're Selena's best friend. What's in it for you?"Why would she turn on her friend to take his side? It didn't make sense to Jonathan. Unless… Isabella wanted something from him.Seeing the suspicion in his eyes, Isabella slowly leaned closer and brushed her fingertips against the back of his hand. Her voice trembled slightly with a hint of nervousness, and her eyes glimmered with soft charm."Actually, I've had feelings for you for a long time."Jonathan raised an eyebrow, but didn't move."It started even before Selena came into the picture."A faint, knowing smile tugged at Jonathan's lips."Really? Then why didn't you say something back then? If you had told me before Selena showed up, maybe things would've turned out differently."A blush spread across Isabella's cheeks. She looked shy, like a girl confessing her first crush."You were way out of my league back then, so I didn't have the confidence. Soon after, you star

Jonathan sat alone at the bar, drinking one glass after another. A few women came over trying to flirt, but he shooed them away.Normally, if he were in the mood, he might have taken one of them upstairs to blow off some steam. But tonight, he wasn't in the mood for anything. The anger from being played by Selena still burned in his chest, refusing to fade.In Jonathan's mind, Selena had always been a pretty but stupid woman. For years, he had kept her at home like a pampered pet, thinking she would just cook a little, shop for fun, and go to the spa. He never thought she had any real thoughts of her own.He figured her demand for a divorce was nothing more than a burst of emotion, some desperate measure driven by love and disappointment. But what he didn't expect was that Selena would actually go behind his back and take half of his assets.Sure, it was all under Juliet's name now, but it still felt like a huge loss to him."Mr. Campbell."A woman's voice came from behind him,

Jonathan's expression faltered for a moment, guilt flashing briefly in his eyes. But just as quickly, his anger returned, sharper and hotter."So you really still want a divorce?""I've wanted it all along."Selena met his gaze head-on, calm and unwavering. That flawless face of hers, which had seemed so gentle and tender just hours ago, now looked hateful to Jonathan. She was so sweet and soft during the day when she coaxed him into signing away nearly half his assets, but she was now cold and distant.Jonathan realized he had really underestimated her. He clenched his jaw, his anger spilling out. "Hah, well-played! You're really something else."Without another word, he got into his car in a huff and drove off.Selena's eyes lowered slightly. The night air was cool, the streetlights casting a shadow of her thin figure across the pavement. She looked lonely, yet somehow radiant. When Selena got home, her phone lit up with a video call from Juliet. She answered right away, w

Selena didn't respond to Jonathan. She turned her eyes toward the school gate and quickly spotted Juliet. A genuine smile warmed her face.Juliet instantly noticed her mother standing there, looking tall, graceful, and effortlessly beautiful. Even her gentle smile seemed to make everything around her feel lighter."Mom!"Juliet hurried over, her ponytail bouncing with every step. Her face glowed with joy as she threw herself into Selena's soft, familiar embrace.Selena looked at her daughter with affection, took the backpack from Juliet's hand, and passed it to Jonathan. "Is there anything you want to eat? Your dad and I are taking you out for dinner tonight."That was when Juliet finally noticed Jonathan. Her face instantly gave her away. After all, she was never one to hide how she felt. Her smile faded, and she puffed her cheeks slightly."I thought you were too busy."Her tone carried a touch of sarcasm.Selena shot Jonathan a sharp look, kind of like a silent warning. He

After wrapping things up at Campbell Enterprise, Harley returned to his law firm and gave Zachary a call."It's all taken care of. Everything went smoothly. Ms. Jones got exactly what she deserved.""Thanks."Harley raised a brow. "Funny, you're the one thanking me. Shouldn't Ms. Jones be the one saying that? Also, who's covering my legal fees, you or her?""I'll have William handle it.""So you're paying, huh? What are you to Ms. Jones, exactly?"Zachary stayed silent. Harley smirked, but didn't push it. Then, his tone turned playful."You know why things went so smoothly? Guess I underestimated Ms. Jones yesterday. She's not naive at all. Beauty can be a dangerous weapon, and she sure knows how to use it. The way she sweet-talked Jonathan into signing that deal was impressive, to say the least. Let me give you a friendly warning: watch yourself. That sweet smile of hers might end up turning on you next."He laughed. "Actually, judging by how eager you were to help her and

After Harley left, Selena glanced at Jonathan."You should get back to work. I'll wait for you outside Juliet's school this afternoon. Maybe we can take her out for dinner?"A flicker of joy crossed Jonathan's eyes. Seeing Selena speak so calmly and warmly, which was so different from her usual cold distance, he immediately thought she had finally softened."Alright," he said with a smile.Jonathan returned to his office, leaving only Selena and Isabella in the lounge.Selena's slender fingers wrapped around the cup on the table. She took a quiet sip before setting it down, her clear, calm eyes landing on Isabella."Isabella, do you remember how we first became friends?"Isabella's lips twitched slightly, but Selena continued before she could answer."We used to live in the same dorm. Everyone there was from different majors. I studied literature, and you were in law. At first, you weren't very friendly to me. Honestly, I even felt like you didn't like me. Later, things changed
