Goodbye, My Destined Mate!

I thought I was his destined mate. I never imagined we would end like this.

After five years as Alex's mate, I believed nothing could shock me. But the sight before me stopped me in place.

At the healer's entrance, Alex stood beside a young beautiful she-wolf, carefully helping her down the steps. Alarm bells went off in my head at this moment. Alex was a prideful alpha, who would not even do this for his sister.

As I was not standing far away, Alex looked my way and our eyes met. His eyes that were full of tenderness met the utter disbelief spilling from mine.

Alex quickly looked away. The woman beside him noticed his reaction and looked my way. The moment she saw me, her eyes filled with tears.

Alex carefully guided her to a car and helped her in, murmuring softly gentle instructions to calm her. Only after she was safely in the car did he walk towards me.

He was no longer flustered as he had been when I caught them. Instead, he was calm as he stepped forward.

"Why are you at the infirmary, are you sick?" He asked, as he gently took my hands into his.

His voice was full of concern as he tried to touch my forehead.

I quickly avoided his hand in shock. Why was he so calm despite getting caught? I could not believe the man before my eyes.

"Who is she?" I asked him, my voice shaking slightly.

Instead of giving me an answer, Alex tried to pull me into his arms and soothe me.

"She’s not important. Let’s talk about it when we get home, okay?" he answered and I found it hard to breathe. Did he think I was blind? Tears filled my eyes quickly. If she was no one, why was he avoiding the question? Pain ripped through me. But I stubbornly raised my head and looked at him, still hoping he’d give me an answer.

I needed something to hold onto. I wanted him to give me an excuse. Anything. As long as he said it, I would believe it.

Alex sighed softly, then gently wiped away the tears at the corners of my eyes.

"The pup is mine."

My entire body froze as my blood ran cold, and I forgot how to breathe.

I bit my lip until it bled and pulled away from his arms, taking several steps back.

When he felt me withdraw, he immediately pulled me back into his arms in anger there was urgency in his voice as he said, "Lily, blame me all you want, but don't hurt yourself."

I pulled away from him with all my strength.I was only an omega, and his grip was strong. Seeing me struggle, he loosened his grip, allowing me to step back. Why would he do this to me? After promises to never hurt me, how could he get another she-wolf pregnant?

We stared at each other in silent confrontation, neither of us backing down.

The she-wolf he was with stepped out of the car at this moment.

"Get back in the car!" Alex roared at her, his voice cold and devoid of even a trace of warmth.

While we stood there in silent confrontation,

the woman in the car got out.

The she-wolf looked at him timidly, but didn’t leave. She stood her ground, looking determined to say what she wanted to say.

"Miss, it’s not what you think. The pup... was an accident. If I had the choice, I wouldn’t want it any more than you do." she said with a sneer.

At that moment, the air became to heavy to breathe. A rush of pain hit me in waves. I noticed Alex’s expression change slightly. It was only a second, but I knew him well enough to feel that his initial coldness was already gone. The realization chilled me. He had softened at her words.

"Enough. Not another word," I said, my voice full of pain and grief. It was clear I was a second a way from breaking down from sadness where we stood.

The girl was startled by my words, she stumbled backwards and Alex rushed to catch the pregnant she-wolf in his arms.

I stared blankly at the scene, a fleeting thought flashing through my mind.

My vision spun and I tilted towards the she-wolf's swollen belly. But just as I was about to crash into her, a powerful force shoved me away.

The next thing I knew, I fell hard to the ground.

I looked down at my scraped hands, and back at who shoved me, my own mate, and a bitter laugh escaped my lips. I could not believe he would push me for another she-wolf. Between the three of us, I felt like the outsider even though I was his luna.

Alex stared in disbelief at his outstretched hand, stunned.

That day he brought me home, leaving the pregnant she-wolf behind. But I already knew there was no future left for us.
