Chapter 457

Author: Edelweiss W.S.
"I'm not asking to be with you," Edmund said softly, feigning sincerity. "I just want to see you happy with my own eyes. I can help you win Sebastian back."

Hera's eyes flickered with confusion, and Edmund seized the moment.

He said smoothly, "Think about it. Sebastian's worth hundreds of millions now. He's surrounded by beautiful, high-class women. Look at yourself. How could you possibly win him back like this?

"There's only one way. Let me help you rise again. The position as Edge's CEO is where you belong. That's your rightful place.

"When that confident, elegant version of you returns, Sebastian won't even glance at those shallow women. You'll be the only one who can truly stand beside him."

"That makes sense." Hera's eyes grew distant. His words had hit their mark.

Trouble? I frowned slightly."Alright," I said. "Wait for me. I'll head over now."The moment I hung up, I stood, grabbed my jacket, and prepared to leave for the university. If she had been just another professor, I might not have cared so much. But she wasn't. She was connected to me—and more importantly, she was Claire's best friend. If I could help her, I would."Mr. Grimwald, there's a business partner here to see you," Dan called from outside the office, followed by a polite knock.I opened the door. Dan looked a bit startled to see me, and beside him stood a middle-aged man in a crisp suit, looking both anxious and eager."I'm so sorry to interrupt, Mr. Grimwald," the man said quickly, nearly bowing. "I know you're busy, but I've come all the way from Sazaar. Time is tight, and I truly hope we can work together!"He hurried to pull a folder from his briefcase and handed it to me. "Mr. Grimwald, this is our company's proposal. We're the largest pharmaceutical distributor i

"Ms. Bishop, you'll understand once you see for yourself," the abbot said gently. He offered no further explanation and led Hera through the temple's quiet corridors until they reached a secluded side hall. With a small nod, he turned and left her there.Hera hesitated for a moment, then pushed open the wooden door."Is it you?" a man's voice called from inside. "I knew you'd come looking for me!"Her heart skipped a beat, her pulse quickening with confusion and anticipation."It's me, Ira," the man said, his voice thick with emotion as he turned toward her. "I'm back!"When she saw his face clearly, her eyes widened in disbelief."Edmund?" Her tone shifted from surprise to ice in an instant. "Why are you here?"Edmund ignored the chill in her voice. He stepped forward eagerly, trying to pull her into his arms."Don't touch me." Hera's expression hardened as she stepped back. "If I'd known it was you, I wouldn't have come at all. Leave. Don't disturb my peace."She turned to

"Don't treat me like this, Sebastian. I'll break. I'll fall apart. I know I was wrong. What will it take for you to believe me?"The light in Hera's beautiful eyes flickered, then dimmed like a candle snuffed out by wind."Is it because you still hate seeing me work in public? Is that what you can't accept? It doesn't matter anymore. As long as you come back to me, if you'll marry me again… I can quit everything. I'll stay home, take care of you, raise our children. Would that make you happy?"Her pride was gone. To win Sebastian back, she was willing to give up the career she once loved more than anything. But even that wasn't enough to move him.…"Your life has nothing to do with me anymore," I said quietly. "And I don't believe your words."I met her gaze calmly. "Didn't you say you were becoming a Saintess?"Her expression froze. She stammered, "T-The abbot here told me to let go of worldly attachments and devote myself to peace. But I can't. I really can't let you go, Seb

Zlatan let out a greasy chuckle, though the vicious glint in his eyes was impossible to miss.Hera trembled, clutching me even tighter."No, my husband's rich," she said desperately, her voice quivering. "A few hundred is nothing to him. It's just pocket change!"Her eyes filled with tears as she looked up at me. "Sebastian, I know I hurt you before. I was wrong. Back then, I was just too busy. But later on, I helped our parents solve that issue, didn't I?"I frowned, caught off guard. "You solved it?" Hera nodded quickly, her words stirring memories I had long buried. After she rejected me that day, I'd been cornered and out of options. I had taken out a loan to deal with my parents' sudden financial crisis. But two days after I sent the money, they transferred it all back, saying everything had been handled and no one was coming after them anymore. So that was her doing? For a moment, my expression softened. I didn't know what to feel—anger, surprise, or something else entir

"Let go right now!"Zlatan looked up and saw the cold indifference on my face. He assumed they did not know each other, and his temper flared. He lunged forward, brutal and determined, trying to wrench Hera from me."No, he's my husband, Sebastian! Don't you dare separate us! Dear husband, say something. Please, you weren't like this before!"Zlatan's eyes went murderous. Hera froze, panic written across her face, and she stared at me with a pain that cut.Back then, Sebastian had protected her as if his life depended on it. He would step between her and any threat without a second thought. He had coddled her."Back then I complained you were annoying and meddlesome. But now you don't care anymore?"Hera's tears had almost dried. It felt as if the most important thing inside her had been ripped away.I heard her words and snorted inwardly. She had already given me the reason."I don't want to meddle anymore," I said coolly, meeting her with indifference. "Let go.""No! No, you
