Stranger

“Nothing, don't mind me, my mind just wandered off. I was asking about your Dad.”

“And I said Dad is fine. He has been asking about you and hopes you come to visit one of these days,” said Cassandra.

“Wow. So bad that we are soon going back to school, I can't wait. I've missed everything and everyone,” I croaked, sneaking a peek at the guy again. His eyes were on the coffee disposable which I noticed is the fourth one now. He looked so mysterious. I mean what kind of person walked  into a cafe full of people and still retained his hood?

Anyone Kimberly, you are just being paranoid. He may need his privacy and don't want anyone noticing him or maybe he was sick.

Yeah right. I looked away to listen to what Cassandra was saying “Are you sure you are okay cupcake? You look distracted. Is it about Greg? Oh, my wide mouth I shouldn't have said those words to you about him! Now I have got you having cold feet and feeling jittery.”

“ No, no Sandy. It's not that." I rolled my eyes at her drama. “Stop being dramatic Sandy and good. You have said worse things before so what makes you think I would be bothered by this?” I waved off her comment and picked up my drink.

“So I was thinking we should hang out this weekend at the clu__”

I choked in the drink I was having and started coughing vigorously. She reached out to pat at me. “So sorry. Should I get water?”

I shook my head and hands at her.

“No, don't worry, I'm fine.” I hated it when she talked about clubbing, parties, or any event at all. She knew very well am not a n outing person but she keeps trying. I hater the crowd. Anytime I was in a cried, I feel overwhelmed with the booze and the way the men’s eyes keeps leering at me as if I was the next best thing on Kfc menu list.

“I know what you are trying to do but I have to tell you on time that this won't work. I am here now to take you out of that dreary and boring life of yours. So I sat in my room one day thinking. I said what am I going to do to have Kimberly out of her self constructed cage? And then it hit me.

"I have been too lenient with you so even if you like, go on a coughing fit from now till tomorrow, I would admit you to the infirmary and then take you to the club from there. Case closed."

I knew that tone too. Whenever she spoke with that tone and hint in her eyes, she was serious

“Sandy you know I hate clubs and __”

“I don't care! Waiter!” she screened at the top of her voice. “Tone it down Sandy this people would think we were just let out of an asylum”

“Like I give a flying fuck,” she drawled finishing her shake. “ Do I look normal?” I saw a flash of something pass her eyes but could not make out what. I have seen it before and it wasn't nice

“Get us extra two cups. I think I like your shakes better than those from Kellogs,” she quipped in disgust. Kellogg was our favorite hanging out spot in school mostly because of the ambience it provided than their services. I could easily overlook it since I don't mind as far as it was food. But trust Cassandra. She had once told one of the waiters to take  the food they served her and scrub in his balls  and see if it would like it, leaving the skitty waiter shooting away with a red face.

I had been so crossed with her and made her apologize the next time we were there. But seriously those people's food needed to improve. The only reason people still patronize them was because of their cool cafe. If not they would have been shut down a long time ago.

“You can get her only one and okay with this,” I instructed the waiter as he was about to leave.

“No way! Don't be like that bae. Get two, that's two for each of us," she shooed the guy away before I could have a word in.

“Sandy, you can't keep drinking that. What are we going to do with four cups of milkshakes?”

“I know what to do with mine so you decide what to do with yours. Oh baby, I am in the mood for spending. Adrian is so filthy rich and you need to see him mehn! I never believed those breeds of men still existed” she drooled again.

“Sandy, you know you have to go easy on this one right?”

“Yes I know...But you can't blame me. Wait till you see him, you may probably want I have a threesome with us”

“Sandy! That's gross...you know I would never want to do that” I scrunched my face in disgust at her utterance. She convulsed with laughter and only restrained herself when the waiter returned with our order. The minute he left, she leaned to me “Girl, you need to see his cock, they are the size of a giant grinder” my eyes widened at that and my cheeks tinged red.

“You already slept with him?” I asked in a low tone

“Of course how could I not? Have you seen that body? That face? That...oh my god babe there is no way I could resist. You know very well I don't waste time on samples of my goods.”

She winked at me.

Very right. How could I have forgotten

“But__” she halted my words with her hands knowing exactly what I was about to say. She hated when I gave her a piece of my righteous bullshit.

I bit down on my lip and used that opportunity to look towards the hooded guy but I did not see him again, he was gone.

I looked closer, probably my eyes were deceiving me. How? When? I had him under my watch for a while. How could he have left without my notice?

“There is something I would like to tell you Kimberly” I looked at her boding a smile so she doesn't notice my distraction

I saw the same glint before which I knew very well. “What is it this time Sandy?” I asked. My eyes were darting still checking out the cafe if he might have gone to use the restroom or anything. But there was no sign of him.

Well, maybe I was wrong after all. Most times I was being cynical for nothing.

“Adrian is not like us” she hesitated before saying.

I raised my brow at that. “How?”

She fiddled with her hands. Sandy was never nervous, not when she was with me unless when she commits an atrocity that she knows I would be mad at or, she wanted to say something she knew I wouldn't agree with her on.

“Adrian is kind of...”she bit into her hand seeking for the right word or at least that was what I thought.

“Mmmhmmm?” I leaned in in suspicion “He's gay?” I helped her out.

“God no!” she flaps her hands about like an excited tensed dolphin.

“Say it already Sandy you are making me nervous,” I whined.

“Okay fine! He is a werewolf!” she squealed, making me burst out laughing. I noticed the few people that heard her also turned our way hopefully to look at our delirious self.

“I'm serious Kim.”

“Byt you know that's not possible. There is no such thing as a vampire, werewolf whatever you guys call them.”

“But it's true. I have seen one. You know I would never feed you such fallacious nonsense if I didn't believe it. Have you forgotten I was more adverse to that thought than you?”

My laughter receded and I peered at her to find out she was indeed serious. Come to think of it, Cassandra hated the very thought of the paranormal. I condoned their fairytales more than she ever did.

So how?
