Chapter 3007 Go Through the Viper’s Den

Penulis: Five Generals
As Buffy, now the president of Gwake Corporation, carried herself with authority, Reuben had a sinking feeling. “We were once friends, Buffy. Your family and mine go way back, but you have no right to tell me how to do my job.”

Reuben was aware of the changes Buffy had gone through.

Buffy was not just the president of Gwake Corporation, but she was also the head of the Riverbank Gwakes.

The Riverbank Gwakes were extended family to the Westeros Gwakes.

Now that Buffy wore the pants in the family, she gained massive support from the main branch.

Considering Buffy’s position now, Reuben did not feel superior as the Swan heir and the Tiger’s Cave’s commissioner.

Sure, the Swans were highly influential within the Tiger’s Cave.

However, Buffy’s family was equally powerful within the Viper’s Den.

Jude was not the only member with authority in the Viper’s Den.

Though it was not clear why the Westeros Gwakes did not support Jude in the power struggle within the South River Stat

“You have no right to dictate how I and the Tiger’s Cave run things. “Besides, your family may be powerful within the Viper’s Den, but you might find yourself in hot water by interfering in the Tiger’s Cave’s affairs. “Seeing that we were friends before, I won’t pursue you for obstructing justice.“Now, get out of my way!” Reuben waved his arm and said sternly to his subordinates in the back without looking back, “Kaze Lee and Snow Frost aren’t going to be cuffed themselves.” “Click!” The subordinates raised their guns at Kaze and Snow. Another pulled out cuffs. Buffy grimaced and said curtly, “Reuben, are you really going to push this so far without giving me any respect?” Reuben scoffed. “I would need to give you respect when Casius was around, Buffy.“But your man is dead. Why should I give you any now? “If you continue to get in my way, I’ll have you arrested too.“You should know that once you’re taken into the Tiger’s Cave’s custody, you can forget about ever

“Hannah!” Getting on his feet, Reuben rubbed his hot cheek. Reuben looked Hannah dead in the eye and hissed her name. He was filled with rage. “You have gone too far. I am the commissioner of the Tiger’s Cave. How dare you hit—” “Smack!”Hannah cut Reuben off with a slap in the face. “Have I, though? I don’t mind taking things to a whole new level.” Reuben dropped to the ground once more. With Hannah assaulting Reuben, his team would have none of it. Even Snow and Buffy narrowed their eyes at Hannah. Reuben may not be the most influential man, but he was no pushover. However, Hannah was pretty disrespectful to whip Reuben. It was possible that Hannah’s interactions with her posh circle in Westeros had set a precedent.Reuben’s response when he saw Hannah was a good indication. He and his kind revered Hannah. On the other hand, Hannah’s newly acquired power as the South River State Branch chief may have something to do with it. Either way, Hannah did not see

Hannah intimidated Reuben. Reuben would not stand a chance against Hannah if she were to go for the kill. He could not even dodge her attacks. The way she disposed of Reuben’s subordinates suggested that she held a dozen gunmen in utter contempt.Fear washed over Reuben. He was baffled too. Reuben did not believe that his insult toward Kaze and assault on Snow warranted Hannah’s revenge. Hannah could not possibly kill him without worrying about the Tiger’s Cave’s retaliation. To Reuben, Kaze was just a loser who hid behind women’s backs. There was something more to the loser, though, because three women stood by him. Still, Hannah made no explanation. She believed that Reuben did not deserve to know who Kaze was. “Hannah, the boy killed our ally from Ryokan. Are you sure you want to bail him out when this is possibly going to be a huge diplomatic dispute?” Reuben pointed at Kaze and said grimacingly to Hannah, “I doubt you can handle the weight of the situation.”

Hannah’s aggression only made Reuben grimace harder. He looked Hannah dead in the eye and hissed through clenched teeth. “So you’re determined to stand by Kaze Lee?” “Let me correct you there again. I am not qualified to protect Kaze.” Hannah said in a flat but firm tone, “As I said, I don’t care who from your organization gets in my way. No one can take Kaze away, not on my watch.” Reuben’s gaze fell on Kaze. If he heard it right, Hannah said that Kaze was one of the Viper’s Den. Yet, Hannah mentioned that she was not qualified to protect Kaze. Did Kaze hold a higher position than Hannah in the Viper’s Den? It was impossible. There was no way. Kaze was a guy who had to take his wife’s family name. He could not possibly earn a high-ranking position. Reuben believed that Kaze had the support of someone more powerful than Hannah within the organization. Who could it be? Hannah was the branch chief, so the individual had to be a deputy leader or branch leader to

The ward was a scene of utter chaos with screams of the injured. Reuben thought that Kaze’s assault gave him an opportunity to kill, but before he could point his gun, he was knocked off his feet. The slap came on too fast and strong, throwing Reuben into a daze. Not realizing that he dropped his weapon, Reuben held his cheek and wobbled to his feet. He fixated on Kaze, feeling enraged and humiliated. “How dare you, Lee! You’re asking for it!“Don’t just stand there! Get him! Arrest the bastard. Shoot him if he resists arrest!” Reuben stamped his foot and yelled. He blew his top. It was bad enough that Hannah slapped him in public. However, Kaze did the same to him too. Kaze had some nerves. He was a loser who took his wife’s family name. Yet, Kaze had the cheek to attack him. Reuben’s ego would not allow it. He would never live it down if word ever got out. Reuben’s shouting came to an abrupt halt. There was no response from his people. Some Tiger’s Cave

“Is that a threat to me?” Kaze shook his head and laughed. “It seems that this needs to end today.” “How are you going to do that?” Reuben smirked and said in disdain, “Just because Hannah has your back, it doesn’t mean you can disrespect me, Lee. “My job with the Tiger’s Cave aside, my family prestige can shut you down. “You are not worth my time.” Reuben looked at Kaze in contempt. His privileged upbringing and social standing gave him a sense of entitlement over Kaze. “Oh, really?” Kaze said indifferently, “If I remember correctly, you belong to the Westeros Swans. Are you that confident with your upbringing?” “Confident?” Reuben shook his head. “No, no. My upbringing doesn’t hold a candle to the real heirs because everybody is the same. “You’re just a loser who lives off your wife. All I have to do is drop a name and many will come crawling to do my dirty work and crush you like a bug.“Don’t take this as a threat. I’m just stating a fact.“From birth, it’

“Why am I here?”Mitchell grimaced and looked his nephew straight in the face. “You are going to ruin everything if I don’t get here soon enough.” Ignoring the sour look on Reuben’s face, Mitchell looked over at Kaze. Having spent years navigating the system, Mitchell could pick out the key player in any group. He assessed the situation in no time. Kaze appeared composed like nothing could pull him down. On the other hand, Reuben’s swollen cheek gave the story away. Mitchell was seething. Reuben was a rising star among his peers in the family. He, along with the Tiger’s Cave agents, were working a case when he had been utterly humiliated with a slap in the face. He was a disgrace. Still, Mitchell was relieved. Since Kaze did not lose out on anything, things were not beyond reconciliation. “You must be Mr. Lee.” Mitchell approached Kaze and extended his hand. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. The kid doesn’t know the rules. I must apologize for any offense. “I’m h

Mitchell quickly eased his frown and asked grimly, “I’m not quite sure what you have in mind, Mr. Lee.” Kaze grinned without a word. Mitchell realized that nothing could go past Kaze. Kaze expected some sort of compensation, but he would not specify what he wanted. It was all on Mitchell to appease Kaze. Kaze was a young man with great depth. With that in mind, Mitchell gritted his teeth and pointed at Reuben. “Get over here.” “Uncle Mitchell…” Biting the bullet, Reuben approached Mitchell. “Smack!” Mitchell swung his fist and pulled a punch without holding back. Staggering back, Reuben found his cheek more swollen than ever. “Uncle Mitchell!” Reuben held his cheek and yelled in despair. He was going to call Mitchell to get support. To his dismay, Mitchell arrived at the scene only to help Kaze. Mitchell even slapped him in front of everybody. Reuben was devastated. “Smack!” Mitchell did not stop with one slap. “Bastard! The incident did not sit well with Kaze, so he left them out to dry. After much searching, Kaze came across a café. Kaze bought a cup of coffee. Cupping the drink between his hands, Kaze sipped slowly. Many passengers swarmed the arrival hall in the airport, dragging along their luggage or pulling out their phones to get a pick-up. They all had a destination, a place they had to be in a rush. Intrigued, Kaze followed the crowd out. Kaze turned on his phone, and a text message from his airport pick-up came in. He glanced at the message, curious about who the person was. Nevertheless, Kaze trusted that the Westeros Branch members would not set him up out in the open. At most, they would pull little stunts to mess with him. Kaze was not the type to sweat the small stuff. However, he would not tolerate any extreme behavior. He had been keeping a low profile back in Butterworth, keeping the limelight off him. The purpose was to handle Jet without unnecessary complicati

  • Guardian-In-Law   Chapter 3757 Disconnected

“Alright. I will work hard to be the manager of the Northborn Group. You need to show me the ropes and teach me about management.” Leah looked at Katie with a smile. She believed Katie had not lost her mind. Katie simply had her memory mixed up. “You need to keep your people in line and reward those who deserve it. It all boils down to profits. “You need to work toward managing your people and working with rivals. You’ve got to keep the balance, and nobody loses out. “You need to build your own system when it comes to working together. Don’t be led around by the nose.” Hearing that Leah would start work soon, Katie imparted her knowledge. “Don’t worry too much about things. Joey is nice. You can go to her for help,” Katie said earnestly. Katie seemed to be herself at the moment. Leah wondered if Katie faked her insanity to escape the punishment. “What have become of you? Did they do something to you? “Did you really betray Kaze?” Leah whispered while leaning close

Leah kept working on her knowledge until late into the night. Just as she was about to hit the sack, she got a message from Snow. Learning was a hard enough process. The text message came out of the blue. Leah did not expect Snow to contact her at night. The message was strange as well. Leah could not understand why Snow would give her the address of a nursing home. Leah was determined to turn things around. She strived to become stronger instead of being a burden. She was grateful for Kaze’s help. At least, she had a job now. However, her gratitude was not extended to Snow. She believed Snow had gone too far. Snow left her feeling powerless. Leah did not think much about the message. She assumed that the text was not meant for her. Since Leah did not respond to the text, Snow put the matter aside and went to bed. Leah called Snow the next day. “Why did you send me an address?” Leah went straight to the question. She had been equipping herself with knowledge before

Snow could not believe her eyes. Katie suddenly went quiet and behaved like the CEO she was. However, Katie did not look like she was right in the mind earlier. “What’s going on? She seems to have gone insane.” Snow turned to the warden, still digesting the change. Katie had lost touch with reality before the Viper’s Den did anything to her. “How did this happen? She has been taking her meals. Just days earlier, she nagged about getting out because she was worried about her daughter. As usual, we didn’t respond to her requests.” The warden found the whole thing peculiar too. Just a few days ago, Katie demanded her release. Now, she kept to herself and abided by the rules. Out of the blue, Katie went nuts. Things had gotten complicated. Snow wanted to keep Katie behind bars due to her betrayal. However, Kaze decided against pursuing the matter for Leah’s sake. Katie would be let go soon enough, but she would lose her job at the Northborn Group. Katie’s presence woul

It was quiet in the office. Snow sorted the last bit of paperwork before picking her head up in exhaustion. Her initial plan was to delegate the tasks. However, Katie was controlling. Previously, she personally oversaw many matters. Snow could not distribute the responsibilities because the employees had no experience in handling them. They came to Snow for every tiny, little thing, and Snow really got her hands full. Despite her frustration, Snow could let things go as Katie was locked up. “I should pay her visit.” Snow decided to see Katie. Some things should not be left unsaid. Leah would be working for the Northborn Group soon, and the mother and daughter should meet to tie up loose ends. The truth would put Leah to shame, and her guilt would stop her from ever betraying Kaze. After a quick bite, Snow drove to the prison. Katie was furious when she was imprisoned. She was one step away from victory. She was so close to leaving Butterworth to head to Westeros

“Why do you want to sell the properties? Do you need money? Don’t you have some saved?” Joey had a good understanding of Leah’s finances since she ran all the paperwork. “My mother is being held, and I need money to ask favors. Maybe I can get her out.” Leah was not thinking much. Money could always be replaced, but not her mother’s freedom. “Don’t be silly. This is not the way to go.” Though Joey did not have the details, she observed that things were not as simple as Leah thought. Kaze was safe now, but the fact that Katie had betrayed Kaze and revealed his whereabouts remained unchanged. Katie had broken the Viper’s Den’s rules. Even if she got out, she would be a wreck. With Snow running the Northborn Group, Katie would remain a failure. Either way, Katie would not get away with it. Even if Leah offered all her assets, Katie’s situation would not change. It was a waste of money and resources for Leah to save her mother. Nothing would come out of it. “But I

“Give me an answer. Are you taking the job? If you are, you should sort out your affairs. Don’t bring your personal feelings to work.” Snow was not the type to go easy on fragile women. If Leah did not have what it took, she could be forced to leave the company. Nevertheless, Katie had left a lot of assets to Leah. Even without work, Leah could very well survive. The girl would have trouble keeping the wealth, seeing that she was without power or connections. If Leah had a job, she would have the resources to hold onto her assets. Leah had seen the best and worst of mankind. She was once the center of attention, and now, everybody avoided her. It dawned on Leah that it was over for Katie. If Leah could not even keep a job, she would lose everything. “I didn’t know things would happen.” Leah never thought that Katie was capable of stabbing Kaze and her in the back. The thought of betrayal put Leah in distress. Kaze was a great guy who helped Leah a lot. Feeling ete

Leah got dressed and was ready to leave, but she did not know who to turn to. She thought about going to her wealthy friends to see if they could uncover anything through their connections. However, Leah could not get a hold of them. It dawned on Leah that loyalty would fade when power was gone. Even though Katie was just missing, intel spread around Butterworth very quickly. These people must have found out and have chosen to stay away. Leah had always been treated like royalty. Nobody had ever avoided her like the plague. Nevertheless, she had not been in touch with these friends since her injury. Now, in her attempt to contact them, she could not reach them. “Why is this happening? My good friends have gone MIA, and I’m getting silence from those who have been trying to connect.” Sitting on the couch, Leah looked out the window in despair. She tried to seek help with her mother’s search, but her efforts were futile. She could do nothing for her mother. All al

“I have to work hard starting today. But before that, I have to get some sleep.” Snow remembered that Kaze punished her to get some sleep. He said her face looked tired and pale, signs of how hard she had been working. It felt great being cared for. It was because of his kindness, Snow fell for Kaze uncontrollably. Yet she understood not all things were meant to be. After she returned home, she went to sleep immediately without talking to anyone. She only woke up in the afternoon after a comfortable and easy sleep. Next, she would have to work on many things, first being taking over Northborn Group. Katie’s disappearance had the company shaken, but it gave many others a chance. They tried to calm their subordinates down and contact the higher-ups for more information, hoping that they could replace Katie as the new CEO. Little did they know, their preparations would eventually fall short. Snow and her secretary arrived at Northborn Group in the afternoon, and her a
