Chapter 3860 Not by Chance

Author: Five Generals
If a family was behind the attack on Clarice, Edmund could just destroy that family’s business and cut off any chance of their survival in the shortest time possible.

However, the Siegfrieds were the perpetrators instead, and Edmund became hesitant.

He was torn about whether to get even with the Siegfrieds, and if he did decide to proceed, where would he begin?

The interests and profits between both families were closely tied.

If Edmund were to go after the Siegfrieds, his social standing would take a blow, too.

Edmund would not strike until the moment was right, but this matter was far from over.

Now that Edmund was in the know, he would come up with a plan. However, he had a far more important matter to attend to.

Back at the villa, Clarice had showered and changed her clothes. She was enjoying the food prepared by the chef.

“You’re back, Uncle Edmund.”

“You’re listening to me for once.”

Edmund approached and stroked Clarice’s head, feeling sorry.

“How can one person disappear into thin air? Of all the times, why can’t I reach the guy?” Clemont’s mind flew back to yesterday’s incident. He was worried that Kaze might have discovered his secret. He hoped the blond guy’s disappearance would not come back and bite him in the ass. Clemont could only pray that the guy left on his own accord and that he had seen the last of him. However, it scared Clemont that he could not get in touch with the guy. Clemont’s worst fear was that his little setup would be uncovered and that Clarice learned about it. Unable to shake his worry, Clemont held his phone and called Jackie. “Can’t you even get things right? Why can’t I reach the blond? Has he skipped town, or has he been found?” Clemont had to know. “Don’t worry, Mr. Siegfried. He left after taking the money. I doubt he’s in Westeros now.” Jackie did not see any cause for alarm. It was true that the blond stuck around, but he would not say a word after getting the hush mo

“Can you take his measurements for the pieces he had tried? Please make the necessary alterations.” Clarice believed these suits were perfect for multiple occasions. “No problem. We will have the garments ready for you in a few days.“Are you taking all of these clothes, Ms. Geofrey?”“Yes, of course. They are lovely.“Do you have something more eye-catching?” Clarice believed Kaze had too few clothes. He should get a few more pieces. She just could not resist spending money on Kaze. Clarice finally understood why the rich boys loved to bring their dates out to shop. Just lying back, Clarice watched with butterflies in her stomach as her crush stepped out in a new look each time. Clarice embraced the feeling and wanted to give Kaze even more. Kaze was quick in the changing room. These outfits were nice, and the fabric was great. It was pointless to try on clothes constantly. “These few pieces are good enough. Let’s go.” Kaze picked out enough for the job. Ther

“Hello there, sir, madam. Our clothes are made to measure, and they are hand-stitched by our experienced tailors. Every piece is one of a kind.“You can find the different styles in our samples. If you’re interested, we will remove the particular design from the rack, and it won’t be made available to the public.” The sales representative introduced the products in a friendly manner. “I know your brand.“These few pieces look good together. I want to see how they look on him.” Clarice sat on the sofa, feeling pleased with the choices. Kaze found the whole thing a pain. He was reluctant to try on the clothes. A quick glance at the clothes was enough. He was not fussed about his attire at all. “Go on. Try out these clothes and show me. “Grab a few shirts to pair with these other pieces. Skip the white and add a variety of colors.” Clarice asked the sales representative to grab a few more items while urging Kaze to enter the changing room. “You should buy for yourself, C

Though Edmund found his niece embarrassing, he must applaud her good eye in procuring Kaze as a bodyguard.“Clarice, if you’re heading out, you should put on something more comfortable,” Edmund said. “I’ll leave my niece’s care in your hands. Inform me at once if she does anything dangerous.” Edmund stood up to go back to work. Kaze nodded and went out. Clarice was not too happy. She believed her look was flawless today. Yet, Edmund urged her to throw on something basic. “Since you have nothing to do, join me on my shopping trip.” Clarice looked at Kaze. His black outfit was such a bore. She always saw him in the same color. He seemed to blend into the background. “My duty is to protect you, Ms. Geofrey. I will go wherever you go.” Kaze kept things professional. “Ms. Geofrey, if you wish to change, I can wait for you downstairs.” Kaze was just a bodyguard. He did not want to follow Clarice to her room. Besides, the security was tight in the villa, so Kaze cou

Kaze was from Butterworth after all. Surely, he worked with some secret outfit. If Edmund could make Kaze one of his own, he could tap into Kaze’s connections. Plus, Kaze had no ties to Westeros. Kaze would stay away from the conflict between Edmund and Morris. Instead of being a bother, Kaze could be of help to Edmund. There was no doubt Kaze’s superiors had eyes on the matter. Edmund could seize the opportunity to earn the higher-up’s favor and gain Kaze’s help. Edmund basically pulled everybody into his little game, roping in a few helpers for himself. Kaze was a highly-trained fighter with the brains to match. He would keep Clarice safe regardless of whether he was involved in the power play. With that out of the way, Edmund could breathe easy. “I know you have your duties, but I’m sure you can take it easy a little. Why don’t you keep my niece by your side? At least, you can protect her from any harm. “I know I’m putting you in a spot. “But you’ll be doing me

“Ms. Geofrey has been waiting and just gone upstairs. Should I inform her?” asked the housekeeper. Kaze would become Clarice’s bodyguard, so the housekeeper had to be nice to him. “I’m here to see Mr. Witterson. Where is he?” Kaze would meet Edmund to get to the bottom of the matter. Clarice could be making up stories for all Kaze knew, and Kaze sought to confirm some things with Edmund. “Mr. Witterson is in the study on the first floor. I’ll take you there now.” The housekeeper led the way with respect. This was Kaze’s second visit to the villa, and the décor and furnishings were the same as before. The place was as grand as always. Edmund had a knack for business. He must be making bank. His lavish lifestyle was reflected in the décor. The pair arrived outside the study. The housekeeper knocked on the door for a reply before entering. Soon, the housekeeper left the study on his own. “Mr. Witterson is available to see you, Mr. Lee. Please enter.” Kaze nod

Kaze might have better access to intel if he were to be Clarice’s bodyguard. Edmund could also be testing him. Clarice believed that she might have been harsh with Kaze. She probed, “Did you hear me, Kaze? My uncle issued the order.” Clarice had never pursued anyone. She had always been one to follow her heart. She had no idea whether her approach was right, but her wish was to be with Kaze every day. “Are you sure the order came from Mr. Witterson?” It was hard to determine Kaze’s attitude from his voice. However, Clarice was thrilled that he responded. “Of course, my uncle supported the idea. If you don’t believe me, you can talk to him.” Clarice’s voice was stained with delight. Kaze was torn as to whether to agree to the job. In fact, he managed to weigh the pros and cons in under a minute. By taking up the job, Kaze would push his plan to the next phase with ease. However, Edmund was likely trying to figure out where Kaze stood. Kaze disclosed some info

“No way. You’re a senior member of the Viper’s Den. Kaze’s just a tiny member. How can he refuse your proposal? “Even if he’s from Butterworth, he’s here now. Of course, he’s after a better position, and he’ll need your help.” Clarice laid it thick on Edmund, hoping to get him on board. She decided to go for it. There was no way she would back down. “Do you really want him as your bodyguard? I hope you don’t have other intentions,” Edmund asked deliberately. He wanted to know Clarice’s response. “That’s right. I like him. I can’t forget what he has done for me. I think he’s the one.” Clarice was straightforward. Since Edmund saw through her, Clarice did not conceal her thoughts. Nothing slipped past Edmund anyway, so Clarice did not see the point in hiding. She openly admitted her feelings for Kaze. Edmund was dumbfounded. It was the last thing he expected from Clarice. Her bluntness was something else.“Aren’t you bold? You’re different from other young ladies. I

Kaze and Dwight returned to the house, feeling rather exhausted. They only went out to grab a bite. However, they got caught up in a mess. “If I knew what would happen, I wouldn’t have left home. Imagine what we got ourselves into,” Dwight lay on the sofa and whined. The incident at the hospital put him in distress. However, it was Kaze’s business. Dwight had no right to make decisions for him. “Don’t you find today strange?” Kaze grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and drank it. “What’s strange? What are you talking about?” Dwight turned to Kaze curiously, baffled by his question. “Even if the blonde guy was trying to win, he didn’t have to hurt Clarice.” Kaze noticed this, yet he did not know who masterminded the whole thing. “Are you saying that the blond acted on someone’s instructions? Who would have the audacity?” Dwight sat up. He looked at Kaze in disbelief as if the latter was a lot smarter than he thought. How was it that Kaze knew more than he
