It was around ten in the morning when Stella and Morgan finally woke up. They didn't have any recollection of how they had slept last night. The only thing that they could remember was their grandmother's last words before everything had gone dark in their mind.

"Stella, I know you both have a lot of questions to ask me, but unfortunately I don't have any more time to answer any of your questions. I would leave you a book from which you would get the answers. In the meantime, take care of yourselves. Stella, remember to always put on the pendant, never even for once should you ever remove it because the time is near. Morgan, I'm sorry that you have to take on this duty at such an early age."

Thinking about it, they immediately swung into action to find their beloved grandmother so that she could explain to them what exactly had happened and what she meant when she said those words. They hoped that whatever she meant when she said she didn't have any more time was not what they were thinking of.

It only shocked the two grandkids to find their grandma missing, her bed clearly showed that she hadn't slept on it last night.

Confusion and worry gripped their hearts as they searched every nook of their little house but there was no sign of their her. Instead, they discovered a weathered leather bag lying on the kitchen table.

Stella and Morgan had never seen the bag before, so they hurried to check its contents only to find a weathered worn book with cracked leather cover adorned with faded symbols. The pages were filled with cryptic symbols and faded illustrations, and on the first page, written in elegant script.

The Laws of the Ancient Times.

Besides the book, there was a written note stuck on the table, written in their grandma's handwriting.

"Stella, Morgan, I'm very sorry my kids, that I can no longer take care of you guys. As you read this note then I would no longer be in this world. I'm going back home to where we all came from

I have left you several materials that would enrich your knowledge of these things, find some time to read them. I wish you well, and all the best.

If, by any chance we meet again, I would love to be your grandmother once again.

Morgan, remember to take care of your sister, with time, you will learn that you two are of different kinds, and you might be swayed to turn your back on her. When such a time comes, always remember that she is your SISTER! You have to protect her no matter what because she must fulfill the old prophecies. Goodbye, my kids. "

Love, grandma. The note read.

They didn't understand what it meant, especially when she said she would no longer be in this world, it just made them wonder whether there was another parallel world. They didn't quite believe in such tales, they had read and watched a lot about it.

Curiosity mingled with apprehension made Stella and Morgan hurriedly start flipping through the ancient tome so that at least they may get to understand what all this was for, they hadn't understood a thing from the note.

The book was not written in any simple English as they had expected. It was written in the ancient language, and lucky enough, Stella had been taught by her uncle Xavier while Morgan had been taught by Grandma Elizabeth.

The book spoke of a long-forgotten prophecy, passed down through generations from a thousand years ago when it was written, after the death of the guardians of the dark world.

The first chapter spoke of dire consequences that would befall a witch who by any chance dared to interact with a devil in whichever situation, and if by any chance that were to happen then the witch had to be taken back to the dark world and be imprisoned in a dungeon full of poisonous insects as a punishment to prevent future interaction between the two kinds. The words seemed to leap off the page, filling the room with an eerie sense of foreboding.

Everything written in the book didn't make any sense to either Stella or Morgan. They found everything in the book quite absurd. The book spoke of witches, dragons, angels, vampires, and the devil. They didn't believe in such a thing at all, weren't they just fantasy? If they were to interpret it, it only meant that Grandma Elizabeth was a witch while the stranger guy whom Stella had picked from the streets the previous night was the devil.

That was not true. Their grandma was someone of the purest soul that they had ever met, and since witches were only associated with evils, just like the devil, it didn't make any sense to them at all to even think that way. They dismissed it with a thought that their grandmother would come back after some time. She had once disappeared for a week back then when they were still young.

As they two delved deeper into the prophecy, they learned of the powerful bond between the witch and the devil, forged in the shadows of ancient forests.

The devil, Lucifer, had once promised the queen witch untold riches and unimaginable power in exchange for her assistance in fulfilling his malevolent plans, which were against the laws set on the world by the gods. Together with the assistance of the aliens, they had planned to unleash chaos upon the world, plunging it into darkness and despair a thousand years ago, but they were stopped by the two guardians, one of whom was his son. As a result, Lucifer lost his son in the process, leading to the plan being put off.

The battle had been scheduled to take place a thousand years later, after the rebirth of the two guardians, and only after Lucifer had claimed his son back.

But the prophecy also spoke of hope. It foretold five brave souls comprising an angel, a devil, a witch, a dragon, and a vampire who would rise against the darkness, armed with courage and determination. These heroes would embark on a perilous quest to fulfill the prophecy, restoring balance to the world and saving the universe from alien attacks and evil.

Written in bold there was one condition attached to it, by any chance there was supposed to be no interaction between any of the kids, especially the devil and angel as they were totally two opposite kinds dire which would lead to the end of the world and perishing of the human world, consequently, the two kinds would lose their immortality and perish forever.

The infernal throne room in the heart of hell was still, the flames licking the walls with quiet fury. Lucifer sat upon his throne, his crimson eyes focused on the ever-burning portal before him. He waited, poised and confident. He could already imagine the victory. The fall of Stella, the rise of Lucian, the scream of light smothered beneath the heel of his dominion as darkness dominated the warty. All that remained now was the announcement of the good news, Stella’s defeat, and the total subjugation of earth.A devilish grin crept across Lucifer’s face. "It is done," he whispered to himself. But then, the flames in the portal sputtered. The throne room dimmed. The endless screams of the damned quieted to a whisper. Lucifer narrowed his eyes in confusion, afraid. "What is this?" he growled.Suddenly, a massive quake rocked the chamber as cracks burst through the tiles, glowing with molten red light. Flames flickered wildly. From the shadows, his remaining lieutenants, lesser demons a

Somewhere between the rift of reality and existence, the void stood still, a realm neither light nor dark, untouched by time. It was very well hidden from the eyes of men, the place where memories of Lucian and Stella was imprinted in all the corners of the realm. " You only have one simple task, son. Destroy that girl today," Lucifer’s voice echoed within his consciousness. And yet, his chest ached with a strange heaviness that no darkness could soothe. He had readied himself to go to Earth, to find her among humans and end the will of his mind. But just as he stepped through the gate meant to bridge hell to earth, he was intercepted. A shadow slithered. "Kairo," Lucian growled in confusion. "You were supposed to lead the way!" Kairo subconsciously shivered. He had never seen his master eye to eye, yet today he had the courage. "Change of plans, master. She’s already waiting." Lucian narrowed his eyes. "Waiting where?" Kairo's hand glowed with energy, and with a single thru

In the dungeon, the moment the insect vanished, Elizabeth’s head snapped to the side, her body slumping limp against the cold stone. The remnants of her magic had drained completely from her the moment she had created the messenger. She had known it was risky to do that because of the little energy she had left, but she had to do it. That was the only way she could make things right, and she no longer cared about the consequences. The ancient council, watching through their scrying orbs from their tower chambers, erupted into alarm. "She's fading!" one cried. "Summon the healers! Let's get her to the medics!" another shouted. Within moments, a portal opened in the centre of the chamber. Council agents stepped through, their cloaks billowing as they rushed to the dungeon. The door to Elizabeth's cell flung open, and the room was flooded with light. "She's barely alive," murmured one of the agents, placing fingers against her neck. "Quick, stabilise her! Otherwise, we will los

The small insect darted through the trees, its wings glowing faintly in the dark silent night. Though small, it moved as though drawn by a force beyond this world. It passed over forests and fields until it reached the quiet little town nestled between two hills, on the outskirts of the city, at Morgan’s home. It hovered briefly outside the window, then slipped through the narrowest crack in the frame silently. The living room was dimly lit, silent and dusty. Morgan sat in a worn armchair, his head tilted back, eyes closed, lost in thought. He hadn’t been sleeping well in the past few days. Dreams had haunted him, memories and nightmares that weren’t his, voices he didn’t recognise whispering things he didn't recognise. The insect landed on the floor silently, its body radiating strange energy. Then, slowly, its form began to change. The glow from its wings intensified, and its limbs elongated. The shimmer turned to skin, her silver hair flowing like silk. In seconds, the insect w

The dungeon was damp, layered with the stench of decay from years of disuse. Water dripped from cracks in the stone walls, pooling on the uneven floor. On the floor, the stones were rough and cold making Grandma Elizabeth shiver to the cold. Her head lay on her side, her hands tied behind her back with enchanted iron chains that cut her skin every time she tried to move. Her wrists were raw and bruised, and each small shift sent a wave of agony up her arms. The chains were inscribed with ancient runes that sapped her strength to keep her subdued. She slowly opened her eyes against the harsh rays. Her breaths came in shallow and slow gasps making her feel as though she were drowning in the thick darkness of the cell. In the distance, she could hear the scurrying of insects, creeping closer and every so often, she felt the brush of their legs against her dehydrated skin. She clenched her teeth, forcing herself not to scream. She wouldn’t give them the satisfaction, watching her s

The sword felt cold, even through the minion’s thick, clawed hands. Its blade shimmered with a subtle red hue mirroring Lucifer’s intent. The dark aura surrounding it whispered death. One of Lucian's trusted minions stared into its cruel shimmer, something unexpected flickered in his eyes, a memory. Not his own, but one etched deep in his mind through countless battles fought at Lucian’s side. He had seen his master bleed, seen him fall to his knees for Stella. He had watched as Lucian defied all odds to protect the woman who had captured the core of his soul. He remembered the moment Lucian gave up his immortality for her safety. The day he almost perished just to breathe life into her broken body. And now, he was to hand Lucian the weapon that would slit her throat? He gripped the hilt tighter, hiding the tremble in his fingers. "A fine blade, my Lord," he said flatly, bowing to Lucifer. But his voice lacked the reverence the others wore like armour. Lucifer didn’t notice. He ha
