(Days later)
We were having breakfast one day when I suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to throw up. The bad thing is, everyone was present, so they watched me stand up, running to the bathroom to empty all the contents in my stomach. Cleaning myself up, I sauntered back to the living room, still feeling sick. On my way back, I heard Kira mutter," Now vomiting? What's wrong with her?" I swallowed, trying to calm myself down. Everyone's eyes were on me the second I stepped into the living room. I looked down, nervously picking on my clothes.
" Are you well?" Commander Snake asks and I nod.
" Yeah. Probably it's the food," I mutter. Kira snickers.
" I don't think so. She doesn't look okay to me. Look at how pale she is." She says, gesturing towards me.
" I'm sure I'm fine. It's just nausea." I say, raising my chin at her.
" You've been ha
Vera's P. O. V " I knew it... I just knew it. All that facade you were pulling. You were pregnant." Kira kept talking while I just stared ahead, waiting for the realization to sink in. " How did that happen?" Jeff asked, and I glanced at him, fighting for words. I gulped when I remembered that night. The night I gave myself away... Who knew it would come to this? " It happened sure h a long time ago. I didn't even think I would get pregnant." I replied, and he sighed, his brows furrowed in thought. " You can't keep the baby..." Kira said. I stared at her, my heart skipping a beat. " You're going to have to abort it." She continued, her voice high and haughty. I found myself shaking my head. " What?" I voiced out. " You heard me." She growled. I stared at Jeff, my eyes pleading. " Jeff..." I began, but he cut me off.
Vera's P. O. V Stirring on the bed, I squinted at the bright light coming in through the windows. My gaze wandered around till it settled on the wall clock in front of him. 10:17 am. Groaning slightly, I stepped out of the bed, ambling to the bathroom. I hurried through my morning routine and, splashing some water on my face, stared at my reflection. Though my color was a bit healthy now as opposed to the pale, dry skin I was so used to seeing, I wondered how long it would last till I ran out of money and had nothing. Which reminds me, I should seriously get a job. I trudged out of the bathroom, slowly eating my breakfast of leftover pizza and some fruit juice while I thought things through. I had figured out where I was on the map and realized I wasn't so far off from where I originally lived with madam Deborah. It made me want to see her again, even if I know I should stay away. Damning all consequences, I packed my things
(A month later) Vera's P. O. V Preparing for work, I turned on the radio to listen to some music before I finally went out. The first thing to come up was the News about Ray's father's sentence. He was given twenty years in jail with hard labor. A smile lit up my face hearing that. Although I wasn't satisfied with the number of years, he got because I felt he needed more, it was nice to know he was finally punished for his heinous crime. My thoughts wandered to Ray and once again, I wondered how he was doing now. Shaking my head as if trying to dislodge the thought, I focused my gaze on my stomach. A bump was beginning the show, and I loved it very much. I wouldn't stop caressing it. Due to the pregnancy was always tempted to see Madam Deborah or Ray, but I always stopped myself. Can't risk them finding out I'm still alive. Jeff keeps checking up on me, probably making sure I don't run away. It's not like I h
( A few months later) Chapter 9 Biting my lips so as to suppress a groan, I leaned heavily on the broomstick, breathing heavily. My stomach is so huge now and the added weight really isn't helping matters. Not to mention how uncomfortable have been feeling. When I finally managed to afford an hospitals visit, I was told I would be due in a few days. I've been dreading and expecting the day. I continued working even as the discomfort tripled. My boss saw me and probably out of pity, told me to take a break. I muttered my thanks and went to look for a quiet place to seat and rest my head. I was already drifting off when my phone buzzed, waking me up. I picked it up to check who the caller was. No other than Jeff. Breathing out, I picked it up. " Hey...." I muttered, my voice sounding scratchy. I ran a hand through my
Vera. I finally went back to the pack. And as expected, they were excited to see me. Or should I say... Jeff was happy to see me. Commander Snake still had that indifferent look on although I caught a hint of approval. Kira looked like she was going to explode, her eyes blazing and ears red. I paid no attention to her. " Vera!" Jeff said as he rushed to hug me. I stiffened, unfamiliar with the warmth. " For a second there, I thought you wouldn't return." He muttered against my ears. " Hey... " I began as we disengaged. " I said I'll be back, and here I am. Although I'll have to admit, I didn't want to be back." He nodded, his lips still curled up. I grimaced, looking around. The base looked different now... Sophisticated. You wouldn't even know this place is a home for highly trained robbers. " Wow... This place looks amazing. How did you get all the money to afford all of this?" I ask offh
" I found this child in my doorstep when I woke up last night. What am I supposed to do with it?" Ma'am Deborah asked the police officer, who was busy scribbling something into his note. " Did you now...." He muttered, uninterested. Glancing at her, he folded his hands, pressing his lips together. "Well... I don't know ma'am. You're going to have to take it to the hospital." He announced. " I already did that. I had the baby tested and they say she's in perfect health condition. What I don't understand is why anyone would want to live a child on my doorstep." The police then shifted his gaze towards the baby, who was already twitching in ma'am Deborah arms. A cursory look and he sighed. " She's still really young. How old?" " Probably a few weeks." Ma'am Deborah replied, rocking her. " According to the doctor." " Well, you can take care of
5 years later.Ray walked into ma'am Deborah restaurant, glancing around so he could look for her. Ma'am Deborah was the first to see him however. " Raymond!" She called out, walking towards him. Ray stopped,a small grin breaking out. Once ma'am Deborah was in front of him, she pulled him into a hug. Ray stiffened at first but soon relaxed, tightening his hands around her. Eventually she pulled away." It's been so long! Where have you been!?" She asked, holding his hands. He chuckled, then settled into a soft sigh." Away. Anywhere that was far away from here." He replied sincerely. Ma'am Deborah took a proper look at him. Although he still looked the same, he was no longer the young, charming Ray she first met. She had to blame time and grief for ageing him so quickly. A few inches taller, a deep set eyes that sparkled less, and a very evident stubble. She could detect some faint frown lines and her heart broke a little inside. She shook it aside and smiled wa
Vera.Waking up a few moments later, my eyes travelled to the window next to me. It was still dark. Very slowly a smile begins to stretch my lips. I'll be seeing my daughter again. I jumped out of the bed, hurrying towards the bathroom. I need to get ready! I hurried through my morning routine, coming out of the bathroom moments later. I immediately picked out an outfit that would hide me. Brushing out my hair and applying a bit of make-up, I was ready. I picked up my bag and car keys, stepping out of my room.Although it was still dawn, Jeff was already out working on his laptop. I greeted him, about to leave when he called me back." We should go out after this." He said, sparing me a glance. I stopped, turning." What?" I asked. He looked up at me." When you come back from your daughter. We should go out." " Oh... Okay. Sure." I nodded and stepped out. Walking towards the garage, I sought out my car and stepped in, turning it on and driving o
