Slowly, I released Starr from my embrace, gazing at her face before pulling her back into a hug for a few precious seconds. Then, after a brief pause, I drew back, looked at her once more, and then embraced her again.

I longed to truly see her, to embrace her with all my heart, but above all, I yearned to share my life with her – to belong with her, with Lance, and with her beloved siblings, Skye and Sunny, as one family.

“Mummy...”

I pulled away from the hug and looked at her, “Yes, sweetheart?”

“When we go outside, will Mummy Bianca be there too?”

I gave Bianca a quick glance. She was looking at me too, not smiling nor angry, she’s giving me a straight face look.

I can’t trust her, not after finding out she and Lucian were in cahoots, deliberately hiding Starr from me, from us

I refocused my attention on Starr. “Let’s sit on the bed for a moment,” I suggested, subtly redirecting the conversation."
