Saturday Morning

Nick lay on his back, blinking rapidly. God, he hated being woken as if the house was on fucking fire. His heart was almost out of his chest; it was beating so hard. He stared open-mouthed at Gabriel, ready to rip him a new one, he knew that he hated being woken up like that. He was just about to yell at him when he noticed that Gabriel was as white as a sheet. His brows drew together in question.

"Amelia has gone, packed her bags and left the building. Gone!" Gabriel spoke slowly as if to a child, not usually a good idea to talk to Nick like that; he'd seen people come away shaking when they had spoken to him like that.

"Gone?"

Gabriel pushed his hand towards Nick's scowling face, Amelia's note fluttering under his nose. Nick snatched it out of his hand as Gabriel slumped dejectedly on the bed. There was silence while he read the letter and then reaching for him; Nick pulled Gabriel into his arms.

"We'll find her," he rubbed his face into G

I know this bit is super tense but the comment about the tea being so strong it could walk has me cackling to myself ??
