TEDDY MEETS UNICORN

She could have easily rolled with it if he had used their character name instead of Ari or if there wasn’t such an undeniable sincerity in his tone.

‘Max….I..."

 “I was messing with you, don’t give me that face” Max said awkwardly with a slight laugh.

“Oh my, you scared me, you almost got me Max” Arianna chuckled nervously holding her chest.

“But why would you think I was sincere about that?”he inquired in a cover to hide his nervousness.

“I don’t know,maybe because of your facial expression and voice I guess,” Arianna replied.

Just then her phone beeped with notifications.

Ariana jerked up from her seat in a hurry.

“Oh my gosh! He is early, he is texting me already!”

Her friend Tianna came to her.

“Alright calm down, you can do this, and I know he will like you too, there’s absolutely no reason to think otherwise”.

"Our pretend date, hope it helps, you have no need to be nervous"Max added.

"This is not the help she needs,you two were behaving like two lunatics in love and now she's running out of time"Tianna snapped annoyingly.

Arianna smiled back and hugged her.

“Thanks for everything Tianna”.

She went on and hugged Max. 

“You too Max, thanks a lot”.

“Hey, what are we friends for?” he whispered back and released her from the embrace.

Arianna picked her bag and hurried towards the door, she stopped before opening the door and turned around to look at her friends again before finally leaving.

“Goodluck” Max smiled at her.

“My fingers are crossed, you will be just fine” Tianna contributed then suddenly she had an idea.

"Hey wait up girlfriend,this is one of the days you can't forget easily let's take a video".

"What? Now?"Arianna snapped impatiently.

"It's a day for beautiful memories for the future,come on, just give me the vibe".

Arianna smiled shyly, she did a hair flip elegantly and blew a kiss, did a lot of poses like a model and walked majestically towards her.

"That's it girl, Beauty queen is set to meet her king! Slay! Yasss!"

Arianna cat walked back to her position.

Max was smiling sheepishly.

"Tianna I'm running late,"she cried.

"Alright queen, I will send the video to you".

She smiled softly at them and left the house.

As soon as she was gone, Tianna walked to the door and slowly opened to make sure she wasn't coming back.

She saw her enter and cab and waved till the cab was out of sight then she returned to Max, who was helping himself with a strong wine.

“You have the chance to confess your feelings and you blew it, wow!” she snapped and grabbed the wine from him.

“You saw her face when I said those words. I couldn't face the truth after seeing her like that, she has been a good friend for years, and we both know how happy this Teddy made her, and maybe she doesn’t feel such happiness with me”.

“So are you saying you can’t make her a happy woman?”Tianna sneered her hands akimbo.

“That’s not what I am saying” Max muttered.

“What if she felt the same way  and wanted you to take a step, you were the one that was dumb enough to let her become so eager to date and started online dating, while you were with her secretly in love”.

“Alright, I get it, I messed up and my day is ruined, are you happy now!”

“You have no idea about what my happiness is?”Tianna replied coldly.

AT THE RESTAURANT

“We are here, your money is 200 bucks”the cabbie informed her.

"Thanks"Arianna replied excitedly and  paid the driver.

It was the exact location that Teddy gave her, she drew a deep breath before getting down from the car.

She  admired the place and guessed Teddy must have a classy personality because of his choice.

Out of the world restaurant isn’t a place for an average person, it is only known for celebrities and big shots in town.

She felt her feet cold at the sight of the way the women in the place dressed, she was completely out of their league,they all look very expensive, each of them held by their man, like beautiful treasures.

She rubbed her shoulder and  smiled softly at the thought of her Teddy holding the same way, it's today, must be a dream, she screamed in her  overexcited mind.

Andre was the first to arrive and his predictions was correct,his driver had stopped opposite the Restaurant as he had instructed,he texted unicorn then waited for her to arrive and when Arianna alighted from the car, the girl from his office who hated was actually the woman he had dated online for close to a year.

She looked different and more feminine than in the office, she looked like someone who had no intention towards taking care of her appearances or enhancing her beauty in any way.

Suddenly he felt a surge of shiver down his spine, his fist clenched.

“I can do this,” he murmured and took a deep breath.

He walked into the restaurant through the second entrance. He took a regular table and waited for her, his hands sweating nervously, alot running in his mind.

She will probably put me in my place and disgrace me, I should put an end to us tonight, he thought. 

There's no way she will ever want to be with a man like me, and the same goes for me anyway, this is a mistake, I should have never replied to her back then from the start. What the hell was I thinking, loving someone?, loving a woman? I must have been under some spell to have given her too much attention, how did she entrapped sameme all this time, he thought.

As soon as Arianna entered the restaurant, a waitress approached her with a tag which read

Unicorn.

"Miss unicorn?"

Arianna giggled excitedly."That's what he calls me"she teased.

The waitress smiled warmly.

"Please this way".

She walked  her to the VIP table.

 “Thanks,”she muttered shyly.

Everyone was looking at her like how did she afford that spot, she noticed their stares and awkwardly brought out her phone to text Teddy.

“Hello Teddy, I am at the table in front of the performers. The other tables were arranged 12 feets away from this one. It's like a VIP table. This place, this position, isn't it expensive Teddy?” she texted and waited impatiently.

“The best for you”.

Arianna’s face reddened with shyness. 

“Awn, so where are you? I can't handle any more surprises,I want to see you, can you wave”.

He went offline, that’s unusual to Arianna, he never goes offline anytime they're chatting not to talk of today of all days. She however didn't spare him from receiving her endless messages.

She was served the best dishes and also her favorite musician Ed shreen was performing live, it was as if it’s a private live performance made for her only.

She recorded everything and posted on her status,also the video Tianna sent to her.

Her female colleagues who viewed her status sent love emojis, some commented on how expensive the date was, she had never received a compliment from anyone at her workplace before.

After replying to their messages.

Excitedly she texted Teddy again, this time he was online 

“Teddy you got to see this, Ed is performing live in front of me, are you the one behind this, I am so blown away, I really can’t wait….”

“Listen unicorn"Teddy replied 

She paid attention curiously

“What is teddy?”

She replied worried, her hand visibly shaking.
