A sweet smile spread across her slim face as she ran her skinny hands on the soft mattress that soothed her back.

She was feeling refreshed and strong, nothing like the previous night.

Her hands inched further, that smile spreading like butter until she felt something warm. Hairy. A chest.

Her eyes flung open. She sat up fast, heart slamming.

Where was she? And who was this shirtless guy beside her?

"Oh, you're awake. Good morning, brown eyes." His deep voice greeted her, but all she could do was blink and gulp.

Then the events of the night crawled back into her small head.

"Where am I?" she asked, almost rudely.

"A hotel. In a room. With me. On the bed." His voice was hoarse, like he'd just woken up too.

The way he chose his words made her feel guilty for reasons she couldn't explain.

She scrambled off the bed, away from him.

Had he done something to her while she slept? Why were they in a hotel together? Same bed?

Okay, whatever. He saved her. Fine. Now she'd leave. Find a job. Sell water on the street if she had to.

She didn't trust him.

To her, he was some womanizer who preyed on young girls. But his face told a different story. He looked responsible. Except for that flirty smile that never left his lips.

"My lovely brown eyes. Take a bath. We have somewhere to be."

Her legs froze.

We?

"What do you mean we?" she asked, rude again. She didn't know why, but anger lived in her chest now, aimed at everyone — including this miraculous stranger.

"Yes we, my lovely brown eyes. We have somewhere important to be." He sat up, shoving his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants.

Lovely brown eyes? What was that about?

"I'm not going anywhere with you. Look, I'm not the kind of girl you think I am. So no. Absolutely nowhere."

The night creature only watched in awe. Amusing, this one.

"What kind of girl, my brown eyes?" That side smile again.

"That... t-the..." She couldn't finish.

Him shirtless. Smiling. Mentioning something shameful? Bad idea.

She was rude, yes. But also painfully shy. Certain words never left her mouth.

Now anger built again in her small chest.

Play time over. No more chatting with this annoying stranger.

Her hand barely touched the knob when another hand pressed against the door from above her head.

Her body jerked. Her Eyes darted and she could feel her tongue freeze

Whose hand was that

She tilted her head slowly to the left.

Then she met them……HIS Red eyes they glowed right back at her Peering into her very soul.

His canines had elongated into fangs.

He looked wild. Terrifyingly, But Still had that naughty smile hung accross his face

Monalisa froze.

Every vein in her body stopped. She could blood becoming stagnant her breath seized for what seemed like hours

What in the Medusa???

This was a nightmare.

No

She was still sleeping. This wasn't real.

Her hands begi

Chai. She don die oo.

The night creature watched her fright with amusement. One hand on the door. The other aching to wrap around her slender waist.

His red eyes fell on her half-exposed milky shoulders. His fangs itched with thirst.

The look on her face — he read it as invitation. It was the opposite.

"W-what... what are y-you?" Her voice trembled.

He tilted his head, amused. "Oh my. Am I a what? I'm a vampire. A very lovely one."

He growled, and the movement of his fangs scared her more than the word "vampire."

No. This couldn't be. Makeup? Costume? A dream?

Vampires only existed in novels. They couldn't be here. Not in this city. Not in Africa.

"Are you done thinking, my lovely brown eyes? We'll be late."

That smile. Those fangs.

No way was she his anything.

No wonder he'd reached the door in seconds.

Her heart beat madly in her chest. Beautiful music to vampire ears.

Oh, how he wanted to sink his aching fangs into that small, milky shoulder.

But she was still scared. He'd wait.

His hand slid around her waist. Slow. Tempted.

Her heart became an earthquake.

Oh God. He was going to bite her.

What could she do? She'd slept in the same bed as a vampire. What if he'd drained her already?

Was she cursed? Why did bad things keep finding her?

"I'm not biting you. Not yet."

He growled the words just above the nape of her neck.

Not yet? That meant someday?

"So be a good girl. Take your bath. And jejely follow me."

The door opened unexpectedly.Mona’s head jerked up from the bed just as Lilith stepped inside, the sunlight trailing behind. She didn’t knock, and she was unapologetic about it.Her gaze moved slowly across the room before she paused and stopped at the heavy curtains that sealed the windows.“You live like a prisoner,” she said lightly, her fingers closing around the thick fabric. Her hands carefully pulled them open, and a wave of sunlight spilled on the carpet. Lilith leaned against the window frame with a casual posture.“Relax, this room is yours, isn’t it?”Mona pushed the blanket aside, sitting upright. The sudden brightness made her blink, but she tried not to show it.“It must be strange for you,” Lilith continued, her voice carrying a strange calmness.“Um, I’m not sure that I understand.““I know it must have been hard for you to find out that vampires are real and not just the stories you hear around, oh young lady.” “… It… it was,” she admitted, her eyes dropping to her l

A loud honk echoed through the quiet grounds of the mansion.Bom! Bom!Mona looked up from the kitchen window. She watched as a black Bentley rolled slowly through the tall iron gates, riding toward the front of the mansion.Gabriella leaned beside her, wiping her hands on a cloth. The car stopped, and the driver hurried out first and opened the door. A tall, light-skinned woman stepped out. Her green dress flowed softly around her legs as she straightened up. Her dark sunglasses covered her eyes, and long cornrows framed her face neatly. Not only that, but her nails were polished perfectly, glinting briefly in the sun as she lifted a hand to adjust the strap of the designer bag hanging from her shoulder.Gabriella left the kitchen and hurried towards her.“My lady,” Gabriella greeted politely, reaching to take the bag from her.“This mansion never changes,” she said, glancing around the estate. “And the heat in this country is something else.” Gabriella smiled patiently. “We are ha

She was unaware of how much time passed, but her hands were still shaking. That could be me.The words echoed in her mind.“If Khaled didn’t come earlier, his brother could have killed me,” she muttered to herself. It was true. Chapter 10The Next MorningA soft knock came from the door, pulling her from sleep. Before she could answer, the door slowly opened. Khaled stood there with a small jar in his hand. Without permission, he walked to her bed, sitting on the edge, close enough that she could smell him, the scent of sandalwood. Her breath hitched not from fear but from something, a feeling she couldn't name. He sat too close…. It didn't make sense. He lifted her chin with two fingers, turning her face gently toward the light; his eyes dropped to her throat, tracing the bruises that marked her skin. They were fading now, the deep purple softening into greenish yellow. She wanted to pull away. Wanted to ask him not to touch her.But her body wouldn't move.He opened the jar he had come in with, which smelled like an herb she couldn’t remember, perhaps rosemary; she wasn’t sure. His fingers felt cool against her skin as he carefully applied it. She moved away quickly, too afraid to look up. Her legs barely made four steps when he caught her arm, yanking her back to his shoulders.Mona lifted her gaze, meeting a familiar hostile stare, one from the shirtless guy who shamed her looks earlier. His eyes held no warmth, red and dark.“You.” His voice was dangerously low, peering into her eyes with a predatory expression. One that reminded her of the dogs that chased her once during an errand for Margaret .She gulped slowly, trying to pull away, but his grip tightened.“Don’t you ever walk out on me.”She glared at him.“I’m not yours to command.”His eyes dimmed; a flicker of annoyance flashed in his red eyes. She didn’t care whether he was a vampire or not.How dare he talk to her like that!He charged forward, moving faster than what she could track as seconds, and his hand was around her throat, pinning her to the wall. She could feel her feet leaving the ground.“You think that matters?”His face lowered to hers; Mona could
