Araceli.

I looked up and saw Matvei standing in the doorframe. His eyes were filled with rage, fixed on Gael and me—especially on my arms, which were still wrapped around Gael’s neck.

I pulled my arms back in fear, heat prickling down my skin. Gael stood up and moved toward him. My heart was pounding so fast I could hear it out loud. What if he killed Gael for being so close to me?

“Aye, I just came to give her coffee,” Gael said, standing straight and playfully raising his hands in defense.

Araceli. This day has been the worst day of my life. I woke up to the most unusual and traumatic gift my so-called husband decided to offer me. Aside from the way I reacted when I saw how he was torturing my sister, the worst and calmest feeling at the same time is how my body reacts to him.I’m grateful for Sonia. She noticed the tension and suggested we drive in the other car. Honestly, one part of me wanted to be there with him, but the other part of me was too scared of how my body might squirm under his stare. We settled into the backseat while the guards started driving. I noticed she kept staring at me, but I ignored her. I turned my head toward the window instead, watching people live freely outside. That’s what I want. A free life.A life where I can drive, sing, have friends, and go to sleepovers. Not being married to one of the devils that escaped from hell.“Are you okay, Araceli?” Sonia asked.I nodded without looking at her. My response was short, but I still couldn’t be

MatveiPower and dominance were what I thrived on. Watching people—especially her—lose control under my touch was something I enjoyed far more than I should have admitted. My chest tightened as I watched Araceli run out of the room. That was when I knew I had gone too far. Said more than she could emotionally handle.Foolish Geal stood quickly. “Chert vozmi. Matvey, chto ty yey skazal?!” (Fuck. Matvei, what did you say to her?!)“If you don’t shut up, I’ll cut off your dick and feed it to her,” I sneered, pointing at Sonia. Her head was still lowered, but I didn’t care why. That wasn’t my concern.Geal shook his head before storming out of the room. Sonia followed immediately.I rolled my eyes and walked out after them.Araceli was nowhere.Geal and Sonia stood beside me, both clearly confused. The silence between us was thick, heavy with something close to fear. It settled under my skin like a bad omen.I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed the guards stationed around the buil

Araceli. His dark green eyes turned stormy in a second, filling with an anger that felt capable of swallowing me whole.I shifted back, fear crawling up my spine, but my shoulders stayed squared—like I was daring him to do his worst. He tilted his head, then lowered it slowly.“Mind your fucking language, Araceli.” He sneered, his grip tightening around my arm.“Or what?!” I shot back. A flicker of fear made me blink; I really hadn’t thought that through. His jaw dropped slightly before a sarcastic chuckle slipped past his lips.“You don’t want me to punish you, right?” he said, his voice edged with authority. “Then better fucking behave yourself.”My fingers trembled, but I stood my ground, locking eyes with those familiar storm-green ones that still scorched me to the core with their sheer force.“I’d prefer punishment my whole life than staying with you forever,” I spat, ignoring the way my body betrayed me under the weight of his stare.“Be careful what you wish for,” he whispered

Araceli“No, you can’t, Dolly.” He chuckled. “You are Matvei’s wife. That means you are his enemies’ main target.”My body shivered slightly as fear slowly engulfed me. “Are his enemies as dangerous as him?!”“No. But they are very ruthless.” He paused. “Everyone is scared of Matvei. That’s why now that he is married, they would see you as a good pawn to bring Matvei down to his knees.”“I don’t think he would agree to go down on his knees for me,” I whispered, rubbing my arm slightly as the image of Naiara’s blood-soaked upper body flashed in my brain.“I think he would. He really does care about you,” he said flatly.“He doesn’t care about me.” I scoffed. “He almost killed my step-sister in front of me just because of something silly she said.”“Hm.” He hummed thoughtfully. “It wasn’t something silly before that. I’m very sure you were mad at him because of that.”I cleared my throat and scratched my elbow. “How did you know I was mad at him?”“Because he only reacted that way to p

AraceliI froze completely when the lady lifted her head—and my heart skipped. She looked like Naiara. Her mouth was gagged, and she started mumbling something I couldn’t hear.My eyes widened as I watched Matvei walk toward Naiara with a gun. Tears streamed down my face as I watched him, maybe going to punish her because of me. He removed the rag from her mouth forcefully and muttered a curse under his breath.“I-I am so-so sorry, Araceli!” Naiara screamed.I still stood rooted in that spot. I didn’t know if it was confusion, fear, or shock that kept me still—unable to move an inch or say a word.Matvei walked around her, his green eyes piercing every inch of her body. She kept looking around, muttering apologies, but Matvei never listened, nor did he act like he heard a single word she was saying. He stopped at her back and yanked her hair. She let out a scream that caused me to flinch. My eyes burned instantly as I watched her scream in pain.“Matve—” I cut myself short with a full

I didn’t understand what Matvei had said in Russian. What if he had just said he would beat him to death? They both spared me a brief, curious glance, probably because of the sound I made. Someone outside might think I was the one who got punched.“There’s no harm in that, especially whe
