HER RETURN; once weak, now ruthless

Right before my eyes, in a hidden corner with a strange boy, I watched my parents being slaughtered like animals.

My mother’s scream kept echoing in the whole house as I bit back tears. I wanted to rush out and die with my parents but the strange boy held me back.

He was holding my hands with a lot of strength and when I wanted to scream, he placed his hand around my mouth, shutting me completely.

I struggled but after watching my parents die, I also watched them pour petrol on the ground and light up our house. The boy got up and urged me to follow but no, how could I leave when my parents were dead? What is the essence of living when you’re supposed to be dead? 

He managed to drag me out of the house and I knelt on the floor, weeping as I watched my parent’s body burn to ashes.

“Mom! Dad! Moom!!!” I screamed and opened my eyes. Tears were rolling down my cheek as sweat covered my whole body.

It was a nightmare, only that this nightmare had happened two years ago and ever since then my life has become terrible.

“What’s wrong with her?”

“Is she insane? How dare she interrupt our sleep” I heard mutters and saw hateful glares from my fellow maids.

It was late already and everyone was trying to sleep. I stood up, I was heading to the woods, where I got solace. That was the only place I could stay without being worried about my life.

I sat on the floor, thinking about how worthless I was. I was blamed for the death of my parents because it happened on my birthday and the day I graduated from college. How could I explain to everyone that it wasn’t my fault and have them believe me?

How would I explain to them that I tried to die with my parents but I wasn’t allowed to? How could I explain that even death keeps avoiding me because I’ve been waiting for it to take me away for a very long time?

They all hated me because I was the only Wolfless person in the pack, to them I was no different from a human. Whenever I walked around, they never failed to show contempt on their faces and looked down on me.

My agony was an eternal one, the only thing that could save me from this pack is getting my wolf or dying both of which the chances are very low.

It was painful because I was once the beta’s daughter who everyone adored and overnight I became a mere servant in the pack house. The pack mistress, Ella, made it known that I was nothing but a piece of trash. She is the sister of Alpha Louis.

She and her bestie, Viola, the gamma’s daughter derived pleasure from watching me suffer and shed tears. When my father was still a beta, we never got along and now that things are sour, they didn’t hide their hatred.

I just listened to the rustling of the trees, staring at the moon silently. I knew the moon goddess was watching me but why she was watching me suffer without ending my life was the most baffling of all.

My parents had always told me I was special but it seemed like they were wrong. I was weird, I was a human amid wolves. I was weak and powerless with nobody on my side.

Tears were about to fall when I felt my heartbeat accelerate, it was faster than usual, faster than even when I was scared.

I began to have a bad feeling, I stood up, feeling like I was in danger I tried to run back to the pack house but rather than the pack house, I felt my feet walking inside the forest.

I was heading deeper and even faster now, my head began to spin as I recalled my mom’s story about meeting your mate. Hope sprang forth in me.

I was wolfless but I would be given the chance to get a mate! I wanted to cry for joy as I began running very fast, smiling as immense joy filled my heart.

There was still hope for my miserable life. Remembering the tales about mates loving each other till eternity and always being there to protect each other made me forget about my past sufferings.

I let go of my past and opened my mind to a new future, my dark life seemed to light up and the world didn’t seem so wicked again. 

With a smile on my face, I walked up to a tree and stopped abruptly, I was panting very hard and catching my breath with joy bubbling inside of me, it was the best feeling ever.

“MATE!” I called with my brightest smile and the figure who was backing me turned. My smile disappeared when I saw Alpha Louis and in his embrace was Viola.

He had a dark scowl on his face as he stared at me, I also stared at myself and shrunk back with shame. I was dressed in faded jeans and a loose top, looking at my chubby self, I was no different from a slave.

“What’s this? Is this some joke Louis?” Viola pushed him aside as she stood in front of me with her hands folded.

“It must be babe, to think that something like this would call me mate, how downgrading” Louis spat out and I felt my heart cracking.

Words couldn’t explain the agony that overwhelmed me, I just stood there, unable to speak or move with my eyes fixed on them. 

Alpha Louis held his chest like he was experiencing some kind of pain and he raised his head, staring at me with anger. 

“Is she truly your mate!” Viola questioned and he shook his head with a ruthless look.

“Even if she was, I would rather be with a pig than her, she’s nothing but a human who would bring misfortune to me” He spat out icily and my heart sank, breaking into tiny bits that could never be glued back together.

I choked on a sob, stepping back slightly as I watched both of them with red eyes and tears almost dropping. I shook my head and ran as fast as my weak legs could.

I kept running and I stopped in front of a bar, my head was spinning and I entered the bar, grabbing the bottle of vodka I saw on the counter.

It burned my throat but the pain wasn’t comparable to that in my heart. Everything seemed useless, my hopes were dashed. My life just got worse and death seemed like the only remedy for my depressed soul.

I walked upstairs, my eyes clouded with tears as my only thought was to go to the highest floor and jump down. 

I stepped into an open room when I sighted a balcony, my legs were slowly making way as all my suffering and pain flashed before my eyes. How everything started and how it was about to end kept flashing and just as I touched the rail, the light went off.

I felt a strong hand grab me but I was too weak to protest, if this stranger would give me a painless death then there was no use fighting back.

This strong hand held my shoulder so tightly that I felt nails digging into my skin but I wasn’t bothered, nobody expected death to be a sweet thing but felt bitter-sweet.

I took in my last breath, awaiting death when I felt a lips on mine. I wanted to push this strange person away but the cologne that filled my nostrils made my hands weak.

Before I could realize what was going on, I felt myself being pinned to the bed and a hot body on mine while hands-like claws ripped my clothes to pieces.
