“I'm already safe here, Mr. Kane.”

I tried to sound calm but my heart won't stop pounding rapidly due to nervousness.

“Not until you arrive in your flat.” He firmly muttered without even bothering to look at me.

“Please–” The elevator door suddenly opened.

My eyes widened as I realized we had just arrived at my floor. When did I press the button?

“Which way?”

My mind went wild when Mr. Kane stepped outside the elevator.

“No, please, leave now,” I begged.

My hands were sweating as my breath trembled in worry.

Mr. Kane caught my eyes and stared at me intently as if reading what was on my mind.

“What are you hiding?” His brows furrowed as he looked around.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook my head. “I-I'm not hiding anything.”

“Why are you anxious then?”

That was installed by my father, and I will be doomed if he finds out Mr. Kane is here in my unit.
