MICHELA;

I spun around so fast that my long hair whipped across my face. I crossed both arms tightly over my chest, trying to cover myself, but it was too late.

Miles stood frozen in my bedroom doorway. His eyes were fixed on the floor, but I knew… he had seen me. He had seen everything. His hand gripped the wooden doorframe so hard his knuckles turned white, like he was fighting to stay in control.

My heart hammered against my ribs with anxiety mixed with satisfaction. I only wished for him to see me this way, and now he was here. I licked the lower part of my lips slowly.

The air in the room suddenly felt thick and hot. I was standing there in almost nothing, my soft curves completely exposed.

I should have felt ashamed. I should have screamed at him to get out. Instead, a strange thrill ran through me. I loved how his presence filled the room. I loved the way his broad shoulders blocked the light from the hallway. I loved the smell of his sweat mixed with something woody that filled my bedroom at once.

He slowly lifted his head, our eyes locked. For a moment, neither of us breathed. His gaze traveled down my body slowly, carefully, almost reverently.

It lingered on my full breasts. I slid my hands out slowly, granting him a full view of the way they rose and fell with my quick breaths. Heat gathered low in my belly.

My skin tightened under the lace. I shivered, but not from cold. I was burning inside.

“Have you been…” My voice came out shaky and breathless. I couldn’t finish the sentence because it truly didn’t matter how long he had been standing there.

Miles took a few steps into the room. He was so tall, so broad. His shadow fell over me, making me feel small and delicate. My eyes dropped to his strong arms. The veins stood out as he placed his hands on his hips.

The thin apron he still wore from working outside now tied into a knot just above his belt. I couldn’t stop my gaze from tracing the outline of his waist, wondering what he was holding back.

“No, Kitten,” he said again, his deep voice rough. “You don’t let anybody talk down on you… You are… delicate. Precious.” He paused, swallowing hard. His eyes darkened. “You are… damn it.”

The words came out like a growl. He turned sharply away from me, but I had already seen the hunger in his eyes. My heart fluttered wildly. Did he really just say that? Did Miles, my stepfather, just call me that?

“You think I am…?” I whispered, my voice barely audible, surprising me too at how bold I was getting. He was my stepfather and I had no business saying those words to him.

Miles stopped walking but didn’t turn around. His back was tense, shoulders rigid like he was fighting a war inside himself. Facing me right now seemed dangerous for both of us.

“I think you are perfect,” he said quietly, his voice low and thick. “Like a princess. Daddy’s little princess.”

Each word landed like a soft caress on my skin. My toes curled hard against the cool floor.

Daddy’s little princess. Kitten. Daddy’s girl. Miles knew exactly which words melted me. A small, shy smile crept onto my lips. I wished he could see it, but he kept his back to me, as if looking at me any longer might make him lose control.

“Thank you,” I murmured softly. Then, almost like a breath, I added, “Daddy.”

The word hung in the air between us. I had called him Daddy for years, ever since he married my late mom.

But lately, it carried a different weight. It felt intimate. Charged. I saw the way his shoulders tightened when I said it. I could almost feel the same rush of heat running through him that was flooding my own body.

For a long moment, silence stretched between us. I could hear my own heartbeat. I could hear his heavy breathing. The tension in the room was so thick I could barely think straight.

My skin tingled everywhere his eyes had touched. I wanted him to turn around. I wanted him to look at me again the same intense way. I wanted his hands on me instead of gripping the air.

“Get dressed, Kitten,” he finally said, his voice strained. He swallowed audibly. “Tracey’s joining us for dinner.”

My eyebrows pulled together. The warm smile on my lips faded instantly. Tracey?! That name hit like cold water. He walked to the door without turning back to look, the door slamming shut behind him with a thud.

“Tracey?!” I mumbled under my breath. “That witch!”

MILES;She looked at me with questions deep in her eyes. Her mouth opened, but nothing came out right away. We stood just an inch apart in the dim cafe, the new furniture still smelling faintly of the new fittings. My eyes strayed to the old couches pushed to one side like they were waiting for something. We both knew there was a lot to say, but right then, something else sat heavier in me. I needed her body to remember who it answered to. I needed the taste of that boy gone.“What… do you mean?” she finally asked. I closed the space between us. “Are you saying…”I lifted a finger and drew it slowly across her parted lips. She went still. I wiped once, then again, like I could erase whatever he had left there. Her breath hitched, sending satisfaction down my spine. A small shiver ran through her, and the satisfaction of it settled even deeper in my gut…. Her body still knew me. Even after everything, it still knew me.“I’m saying…” I paused. “ I’m saying I need to teach your body who

MILES;Punching Nathan and leaving him with a bleeding nose was never part of the plan. Now I just kept one hand in my hair, rubbing through it roughly; my eyes stayed on the road, and the wheel locked in my grip like it had done something wrong. I didn’t look at Michela. Many times I felt her eyes on me, watching me… that steady side-stare like she was finding it hard to recognize the man behind the wheel.I wasn’t proud of what I did to Nathan, or where I did it. Hitting that arrogant boy like that, and in his father’s courtyard was messy, the kind of thing that could turn into phone calls and lawyers by morning. But a part of it felt really satisfying. I’d been meaning to leave him with something that would last him a while, and putting his hands on Michela was the only push I needed to get me on it.My stomach knotted at the thought of it… watching him force his mouth on her… watching her push and him press harder anyway…. I would wait for a thousand lawyers if I had to.I coul

MICHELA;I looked at his face. His eyes were fixed on mine. Was he seriously asking me that after what he had just done?Nathan stood close, close enough that I could feel the heat coming off him. The apology that had been in his eyes a minute ago was gone the minute he saw Miles. He had replaced it with that annoying ugly smile of his, and his shoulders sat higher now, proud, like he had done something worth showing off instead of something he had just begged forgiveness for.“You’re insane.” I shook my head. My brows pulled tight. “I think you need to get your head checked.”“I am perfect, Chela!” The snap in his voice cut the air, shocking me even. “It’s you who should tell me why you just called that man by his first name. Tell me why he’s always so protective of you like…”I did not let him finish. I didn't really care what he thought about Miles and me in that moment. His eyes were glaring like he had any right to get angry even if I chose to kiss Miles before him. A long, ugl

MICHELA; I walked down to the kitchen for a bottle of water. Jemy was already asleep. I guess the day had been a lot and worn her out, and I was not about to wake her. Earlier she had held my hand and told me I could stay as long as I needed. She had said Elena could show me to a room, or I could share hers. She even pointed out the section of her closet with new items… night robes, underwear, whatever I might need if I didn't feel like going back to the house yet. “You’re not even sure Miles is home,” she had said, and as much as I had to admit that, she was right. The kitchen door moved easily under my hand. I checked for the maids, my eyes peering in before my entire body. But the kitchen was empty, the lights had been turned low, and I really needed the water, so I went in, bent to the lower cabinet, and took a bottle from the pack. When I turned, Nathan was in the doorway. Leaning lightly against the frame. Watching me. I swallowed hard. His eyes moved from my fac

MILES; I never knew fixing the upholstery would take almost the whole day. From directing the crew to where each one was to be kept, to moving items, I found myself helping with the entire thing and lost track of time. By the time I finally stepped back and left the rest to the men, it was nearly dusk and I stood, hands on my waist and wondering what I had done. Quickly, I pulled out my phone. I had got no second to spare. My heart thudded when I saw nothing from Michela. Not a text, not even a single call. She had never gone this quiet for this long. I paced the front porch, phone still in my hand. “Maybe she thinks I’m twenty-five,” I grumbled. “Does she want to give me high blood pressure?” I hit her name and lifted the phone to my ear. I was unconsciously praying the line would connect this time. If she had gone to where I believed she had gone, it might be a bit difficult to get through to her. The line rang once, then failed. I knew it! The stupid network at that

  • HIS CHUBBY STEPDAUGHTER   CHAPTER 131: HURT, REGRET, AND WANT

MILES; I knew what I did. The guilt of Celeste’s arms around my neck in my office at M&M sat heavy on me as I watched Michela storm into the house, purse and heels clutched against her stomach like a shield. Her shoulders were tight, her steps were too fast like she was warning me not to follow her or even try to stop her. I wanted to call her back. I tried to call her back, but when I opened my mouth, nothing useful came out—only guilt, sitting on my tongue where her name should have been. I had not asked Celeste to curl her hands around me like that. That part was true. What I could not deny was the other part… I had not drawn a clean line when she did it. I was supposed to set a clear boundary. She was my brother’s wife, and I belonged to another. Had I set the boundary, none of this would have happened. Celeste wouldn't have found her way to the house; she wouldn't have had the guts to touch the lapels of my suit the way she did before Michela. I sat in the truck l
