MICHELA;

Miles paused from sawing the wood in the front yard right beside the widely opened doors of the bookstore, his voice warm and deep as always.

That deep voice of his that I always thought about before bed, especially after hearing him speak to someone on the phone from across the hallway.

My eyes ran over him slowly. His messy dark chestnut hair was damp with sweat, sticking to his forehead. The thin white apron he wore clung to his broad chest, and I could clearly see the way the fabric stretched across him.

Sweat trickled down his thick neck and over his huge biceps, making his skin glisten under the afternoon sun.

My mouth went dry. Skye wiggled her tail happily beside me, snapping me back from my imagination. I blinked fast. He was my late Mom’s man, my guardian, and should definitely be off-limits.

If only he knew what those two words did to me every single time… daddy’s girl. He had first called me that when I turned seventeen. And that day, they sent heat rushing through me and made my heart race.

If only he knew how hard I had tried to make Nathan want me, to put out this fire burning inside me for months, and how completely I had failed.

“Yes… Yes, I had no classes left,” I stuttered, my voice coming out shaky. I forced my legs to move and walked quickly toward the house, avoiding his eyes. I wasn’t sure what his lingering gaze meant, but it felt heavy on my skin, like he could see right through me.

Skye didn’t follow me inside. She stayed out there with Miles, wagging her tail and looking up at him like he was the best person in the world. That left me alone with my racing thoughts as I pushed the front door open and stepped into the cool, quiet house.

Jemy’s words from the library kept echoing in my head: A man that would appreciate your body and how beautiful you are.

Was I really beautiful? If I was, why didn’t Nathan want me? All those nights I stayed late at his apartment, hoping he would finally touch me, kiss me properly, or even look at me with real desire… Why didn’t he?

Maybe Jemy was wrong. Maybe I wasn’t beautiful at all. Who would ever call a girl my size beautiful? Girls like Jessika were the ones guys wanted… long, slender legs, flat stomachs, perfect little bodies.

And Jemy too, one of the reasons I had not allowed her to visit me at home… She had a thing for older men, and she wasn’t as big as I was and I couldn’t stand the thought of my stepfather wanting her, and not me. Everyone was slim and slender, except for me. My chest tightened.

I walked straight to my bedroom, heart still hurting from everything that happened at Nathan’s place. The moment I closed the door behind me… or at least I thought I did… I stood in front of my full-length mirror. I stared at myself like I was seeing my body for the first time, like it wasn’t the torture I was subjected to.

I had tried it all: herbal tea, skipping meals, and cutting out carbs. At this point, I had concluded that taking water made me gain weight too.

I pulled off my T-shirt in one quick motion and dropped it on the floor. My white lace bra looked tight, pushing my heavy breasts together.

My skin still felt warm from seeing Miles. I moved closer to the mirror, studying myself.

Nathan had never seemed to like what he saw. He never touched me the way I wanted, never stared, never told me I was alluring.

My hands moved lower. I unbuttoned my tight jeans and shoved them down my wide hips, kicking them onto the bed, just where I had dumped my backpack.

Now I stood there in almost nothing, but my lace bra and a tiny pair of panties. I turned side to side in the mirror, trying so hard to love what I saw, to buy Jemy’s words.

I ran my hands over my soft belly, the deep curve of my waist, the thick thighs that rubbed together when I walked. My navel was a perfect little button in the middle of it all.

“I really look like a beanbag,” I muttered angrily under my breath. “That’s the ugly name she called me.”

The words tasted bitter, sounded cruel but they described me perfectly. Tears pricked at my eyes again as I remembered Jessika’s smirk and Nathan’s casual cruelty.

I sucked in my stomach, then let it go, watching how my body moved naturally. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t see what Miles sometimes seemed to see when he looked at me.

My skin felt hot, the air in the room felt thicker. I cupped my breasts in both hands, lifting them slightly, feeling their weight.

A soft, unintentional sound escaped my lips. I imagined different hands on me… bigger, stronger, more careful hands. Hands that wouldn’t mock me. Hands that would worship.

I turned again, looking at the way my body filled out the tiny fabric that held around them, round and soft. I ran my palms over my hips, squeezing the flesh there gently. Heat was building low in my belly, my breathing had grown a little faster.

For a moment, I let myself wonder what it would feel like if Miles walked in right now and saw me like this. What would his eyes do? Would he look away? Or would that deep voice of his say something that made me melt?

I shook my head, trying to clear the dangerous thought, but my body didn’t listen. A warm, restless feeling had started low in my body. I stood there, almost naked, touching my own curves, caught between shame and a strange, growing need.

“No, Kitten,” the deep voice reached me from the door. Only then did I realise, I hadn’t shut the door.

MILES;She looked at me with questions deep in her eyes. Her mouth opened, but nothing came out right away. We stood just an inch apart in the dim cafe, the new furniture still smelling faintly of the new fittings. My eyes strayed to the old couches pushed to one side like they were waiting for something. We both knew there was a lot to say, but right then, something else sat heavier in me. I needed her body to remember who it answered to. I needed the taste of that boy gone.“What… do you mean?” she finally asked. I closed the space between us. “Are you saying…”I lifted a finger and drew it slowly across her parted lips. She went still. I wiped once, then again, like I could erase whatever he had left there. Her breath hitched, sending satisfaction down my spine. A small shiver ran through her, and the satisfaction of it settled even deeper in my gut…. Her body still knew me. Even after everything, it still knew me.“I’m saying…” I paused. “ I’m saying I need to teach your body who

MILES;Punching Nathan and leaving him with a bleeding nose was never part of the plan. Now I just kept one hand in my hair, rubbing through it roughly; my eyes stayed on the road, and the wheel locked in my grip like it had done something wrong. I didn’t look at Michela. Many times I felt her eyes on me, watching me… that steady side-stare like she was finding it hard to recognize the man behind the wheel.I wasn’t proud of what I did to Nathan, or where I did it. Hitting that arrogant boy like that, and in his father’s courtyard was messy, the kind of thing that could turn into phone calls and lawyers by morning. But a part of it felt really satisfying. I’d been meaning to leave him with something that would last him a while, and putting his hands on Michela was the only push I needed to get me on it.My stomach knotted at the thought of it… watching him force his mouth on her… watching her push and him press harder anyway…. I would wait for a thousand lawyers if I had to.I coul

MICHELA;I looked at his face. His eyes were fixed on mine. Was he seriously asking me that after what he had just done?Nathan stood close, close enough that I could feel the heat coming off him. The apology that had been in his eyes a minute ago was gone the minute he saw Miles. He had replaced it with that annoying ugly smile of his, and his shoulders sat higher now, proud, like he had done something worth showing off instead of something he had just begged forgiveness for.“You’re insane.” I shook my head. My brows pulled tight. “I think you need to get your head checked.”“I am perfect, Chela!” The snap in his voice cut the air, shocking me even. “It’s you who should tell me why you just called that man by his first name. Tell me why he’s always so protective of you like…”I did not let him finish. I didn't really care what he thought about Miles and me in that moment. His eyes were glaring like he had any right to get angry even if I chose to kiss Miles before him. A long, ugl

  • HIS CHUBBY STEPDAUGHTER   CHAPTER 133: THROUGH THE BLINDS

MICHELA; I walked down to the kitchen for a bottle of water. Jemy was already asleep. I guess the day had been a lot and worn her out, and I was not about to wake her. Earlier she had held my hand and told me I could stay as long as I needed. She had said Elena could show me to a room, or I could share hers. She even pointed out the section of her closet with new items… night robes, underwear, whatever I might need if I didn't feel like going back to the house yet. “You’re not even sure Miles is home,” she had said, and as much as I had to admit that, she was right. The kitchen door moved easily under my hand. I checked for the maids, my eyes peering in before my entire body. But the kitchen was empty, the lights had been turned low, and I really needed the water, so I went in, bent to the lower cabinet, and took a bottle from the pack. When I turned, Nathan was in the doorway. Leaning lightly against the frame. Watching me. I swallowed hard. His eyes moved from my fac

MILES; I never knew fixing the upholstery would take almost the whole day. From directing the crew to where each one was to be kept, to moving items, I found myself helping with the entire thing and lost track of time. By the time I finally stepped back and left the rest to the men, it was nearly dusk and I stood, hands on my waist and wondering what I had done. Quickly, I pulled out my phone. I had got no second to spare. My heart thudded when I saw nothing from Michela. Not a text, not even a single call. She had never gone this quiet for this long. I paced the front porch, phone still in my hand. “Maybe she thinks I’m twenty-five,” I grumbled. “Does she want to give me high blood pressure?” I hit her name and lifted the phone to my ear. I was unconsciously praying the line would connect this time. If she had gone to where I believed she had gone, it might be a bit difficult to get through to her. The line rang once, then failed. I knew it! The stupid network at that

  • HIS CHUBBY STEPDAUGHTER   CHAPTER 131: HURT, REGRET, AND WANT

MILES; I knew what I did. The guilt of Celeste’s arms around my neck in my office at M&M sat heavy on me as I watched Michela storm into the house, purse and heels clutched against her stomach like a shield. Her shoulders were tight, her steps were too fast like she was warning me not to follow her or even try to stop her. I wanted to call her back. I tried to call her back, but when I opened my mouth, nothing useful came out—only guilt, sitting on my tongue where her name should have been. I had not asked Celeste to curl her hands around me like that. That part was true. What I could not deny was the other part… I had not drawn a clean line when she did it. I was supposed to set a clear boundary. She was my brother’s wife, and I belonged to another. Had I set the boundary, none of this would have happened. Celeste wouldn't have found her way to the house; she wouldn't have had the guts to touch the lapels of my suit the way she did before Michela. I sat in the truck l
