A Family by bond

The warm water from the shower washed away the filth that she felt was on her skin. She loved the feeling of water on her skin.

She loves water in all its forms as long as it's clean water. She stayed enjoying the shower for almost thirty minutes before she left the bathroom. She soon appeared in the living room towards the smell of the food that was coming from the kitchen.

As she stood behind her boss cum sponsor, she couldn't help but admire his fine figure from the back. His broad shoulders flexed as he moved his hand to mix the meal cooking in the pot on the fire. The grey cotton she wore under his apron hugged his masculine figure like a second skin.

" Who would have thought that the great mafia leader who was sort after by the entire Nation would be a domesticated figure that cooks and cleans for his family?" Luca was absorbed with his work to notice her presence, but a smile graced his lips after hearing her voice.

"Well, little lady. Can you blame this old man for wanting to take care of you? You and little Hanna have become part and parcel of me. I ought to take care of you as the eldest brother . besides, I especially enjoy taking care of my two beautiful angels."

Luca turned around releasing his apron at the same time. He was just about to say more when a small body crashed into his chest. Lee's arms encircled his broad waist. Luca's heartbeat accelerated involuntarily. He wiped his hand on the apron and circled the girl's waist with his own.

"Are you alright?" he asked. "I am okay. I feel like staying in your arms. Thank you for being there for me always. No matter what the world perceives of you, you will always be my hero and savior."

For some reason, Luca felt too comfortable holding Lee in his arms. The sizzling sound from the fire brought them out of their silent comfort. He let go of her and turned around to turn off the gas.

" Why don't you go and set the table as I take the food of the gas. You look famished. Soon the two were seated at the table having a meal together silently. The atmosphere felt warm, peaceful, and full of tranquility.

Luca was in deep thoughts. Tomorrow was the first day of work for his little girl. For some reason, he had a feeling that her new job will bring a lot of complications to her life. Her life was peaceful as it was currently since no one knew of her actual identity as the mafia's best hitwoman and assassin.

When he first saw her, a tiny figure of a ten-year-old girl holding on to a barely two-year-old baby, his heart had almost stopped beating. The weather was stormy, but she had protected the baby well. On the other hand, her small frame was drenched by the water from the rain.

He had taken her and the baby to his private apartment and helped her warm up as he took care of the baby. The very next day, he had taken it upon himself to take care of the two children. Being an orphan, he had always craved a big family.

The moment his eyes fell on that helpless yet brave little girl taking care of a baby, he had fallen in love with her courage and protective nature. He wanted to enroll the girl whom he found out was called Lavender. It took a lot of probing for him to obtain her information. Initially, he had planned to take her to school, but she refused to comply with his plans. Lee had plans of her own: to always be there for her baby sister and take care of her.

He ended up looking for a teacher to home school her. He got a beautiful surprise when his little girl proved to be a genius. At the age of sixteen, she had acquired a degree in economics and another in business management and procurement.

Now at eighteen, she had started her own company and runs it from behind the curtains. The only ones who happen to know her real identity as the C.E.O was the company's acting C.E.O, who happens to be Luca's personal trusted aide.

"What are you thinking about that you couldn't hear me calling your name almost five times?" Lee's voice and her soft caress on his left hand brought him out of his thoughts. " I am sorry little angel.

I suddenly recalled the first time I met you and baby Hanna. The night was as stormy as today. You were so fearless then. You still are. You see, tomorrow, you are going to be somebody's secretary. No, scratch that. Not just somebody. The wealthiest business tycoon is also known for being extremely cold and rude.

You, on the other hand, are someone who doesn't do well with rules. You don't like to be bossed around, and that guy looks like he enjoys bossing people around. I still don't get why you accepted that job. I am afraid that this new job you decided to take on will affect yours and Hanna's life.

Are you sure about the decision you made?" lee looked at the man whom she considered family. He had been there when she was on the verge of giving up. Her parents were killed, as she watched from the secret room.

Her mother had managed to hide them both in the safe before she was shot right between the eyes as she watched with baby Hanna in her arms. Her papa's death had been more brutal and painful.

She was scared and hopeless when she managed to run away from the men but lucky for her, she came across a kind angel. " I am a businesswoman now, but I have almost little to no experience. I know that being a genius, I can do better at most things. Even so, I want to experience what it feels like to leave like every other person.

Besides, I am not just stubborn but also really patient. I think I can handle the C.E.O quite well without any issues. The other reason as to why I accepted the job is because I have a hunch that the C.E.O or someone close to him had something to do with my parents' death.

If something goes wrong, I know someone who will be there to my rescue. Besides, I am no pushover. I can always kick his ass, but this time, I will keep a low profile. Don't worry Daddy. Your little girl will take care of herself and make you proud of her."

Luca laughed at the Daddy part. The little devil liked making fun of him, but he loved her nonetheless. " Alright. I don't want to lose you and Hanna. Take care of yourself tomorrow and the days to come. You should probably slow down with your current job too.

I might be too busy to check on you sometimes, but I will give you a call as usual. Enjoy your meal baby, let me go and pack up. I have to travel tomorrow for work. I will be back in three months."

Luca kissed lee's forehead and left the table for his room. The room was again shrouded in silence. This time, Lavender felt that what Luca said was all true and that his concerns were genuine. " I promise not to bring you, trouble boss. I will keep a low profile and try to blend into the crowd," she muttered as she stood. She then cleared the table, washed the dishes, and went to bed. It was almost 3.00 am when her tired body hit the bed as sleep took over.
